Filed to story: My Husband Regrets Divorcing Me (Audrey & Cornell)
“Do you like Cornell?” asked Henley out of the blue. In a low, magnetic voice, he asked bitterly, “Is he better than me?”
Audrey closed his eyes and shook his head.
“I’m not interested in anyone.”
“You little liar,” Henley scoffed.
“You like him.”
During their conversation, Audrey noticed a brief lapse in Henley’s attention and decided to take advantage of this opportunity. With that, she raised her knee and hit him where it hurt the most.
“Argh!” Henley winced and unconsciously loosened his grip on her.
Audrey took his chance. She pushed him off and stomped hard on his wounds.
Henley’s handsome face paled and his forehead was covered with cold sweat. He had stepped on her wounds.
At last Audrey leaped away from him. He had done it on purpose, and that was why he had struck him in the wounds. His wounds, still in the process of healing, burst. Blood gushed out, soaking his black pants.
Audrey was no pushover. What Henley had done aroused his hatred.
He looked directly at Henley, whose face was a mask concealing his true feelings. In an icy voice, he warned him, “Try something like that again and I’ll make sure you end up behind bars.”
As soon as he said these words, he opened the door and prepared to leave.
At that moment, the secretary and two bodyguards blocked his way.
The secretary looked at Henley and asked, “Mr. Brooks, shall we let him leave?”
Audrey’s expression changed. He hadn’t anticipated that Henley had posted bodyguards at the door. And to think he was thinking of stopping her.
Using the couch for support, Henley slowly stood up. As he wiped the sweat from his brow, his hand smeared blood on his face, adding a dangerous charm to his appearance.
He put on his glasses, regaining his gentle bearing, and said slowly, “Audrey, I won’t force you. I’ll give you until tomorrow to think it over. But I’m afraid Nicole might not arrive until then.”
Audrey’s complexion became ghostly.
As Audrey left, the secretary came in with a box of medicine to tend to Henley’s wound. She carefully cut away the blood-soaked suit pants.
As she cleaned the wound with an alcohol swab, her touch was soft and her eyes were full of desire.
He had thought Henley was not interested in women. But now, seeing otherwise, he wondered if he had a chance.
With this thought, she became even more attentive in her actions, subtly brushing her breast against his thigh.
Henley was inexperienced in intimacy, but he was not na?ve. He lifted her chin with his fingers and asked with a tantalizing look, “Do you want to sleep with me?”
The secretary looked up at Henley’s exquisite face. The bloodstain on her cheekbone even enhanced her fierce appeal.
With a flushed face, she murmured, “Mr. Brooks, I can attend to your needs.”
Henley remained silent, a faint smile dancing on his lips. His long, cool fingers ran along her jaw and his knuckles grazed her slender neck.
The secretary succumbed to the sexual tension and let out a soft moan.
“Hmm…” She grabbed his hand brazenly, placed it on her plump breast and whispered, “Mr. Brooks, take me….”
“Ugh…” Henley smiled in satisfaction and suddenly squeezed the secretary’s neck tightly.
Feeling suffocated, the secretary realized that something was very wrong. Panicked, she flailed and tried to free herself.
However, Henley’s grip only tightened. The secretary rolled her eyes and made desperate sounds.
Just before she was on the verge of death, Henley forcefully pushed the secretary, who hit the sharp edge of the desk with a loud thud. The next second, blood spurted from the back of her neck.
Henley’s eyes seemed clouded with the most fearsome hellfire.
“Remember your place!” he snapped at her.
After leaving Henley’s office, Audrey felt a deep concern.
Regardless of the veracity of Henley’s words about Nicole’s condition, he had to do something to save her.
Nicole was pregnant. It wasn’t just one life at stake, but two.
Jarrod was a bastard!
Committing to Henley was not an option for her, leaving her with only one choice.
At home, Audrey was confused. She felt increasingly anxious as the night wore on. After pacing for some time, she finally worked up the courage to make a call.
“Matteo, is Mr. Clement available?”
“No,” Matteo replied.
Audrey plucked up his courage and said, “Then please tell him I’ll expect him at home.”
Matteo looked surprised, but quickly replied, “Okay. I’ll let him know.”
At the Ardlens detention center, Nicole was confined to a lonely room. It was pitch dark and she couldn’t tell day from night. She had lost track of time.
Before she was put in that room, the doctors had patched up her arm. She had three broken ribs, but luckily they had not punctured her pleura or lung. Rest and avoidance of strenuous activity were vital to her recovery.
However, his fragile physical condition made self-healing unlikely.
Despite these circumstances, his life was not altogether miserable.
She was served meals regularly and was not disturbed. More importantly, she was away from Jarrod, the devil himself, which gave her some peace.
Nicole missed her parents and wondered how Jarrod intended to treat her.
But she didn’t think Jarrod would keep her here for long. After all, he couldn’t torment her in this place.
As she continued to toss and turn in her thoughts, Nicole’s mind eventually clouded over and she drifted into a deep sleep.
However, a sharp pain in her neck interrupted her sleep. Her eyes snapped open and her heart raced in her chest.
Two women dressed in prison uniforms stood over her. One was pinning her down and the other was holding a syringe and preparing to inject something into her neck.
Nicole, panicked, squirmed and struggled.
“Who are you?
The short-haired woman smirked and replied, “We’ve come to kill you!”.
Audrey had been at home, waiting for Cornell.
At ten o’clock at night, Cornell was still a no-show.
Reluctantly, he called Matteo, learning that Cornell was at Serenity Villas and that he could look for him there if necessary.
Audrey had not visited Serenity Villas since his divorce.
After thinking about it, Audrey decided to go there.
Before leaving, she showered and picked out her clothes. In her closet she found a white lace undergarment, a gift from Nicole after their divorce.
Nicole had given it to her after their divorce. She had never worn it, she thought it was too daring.
However, she decided to wear it this time.
Arriving at Serenity Villas, Audrey was worried about being let in after the divorce.
To her surprise, the security guard gave her a warm welcome and told her she was expected.
Confused but relieved, Audrey thanked him.
The security guard informed Audrey, “Ma’am, we have instructions to allow you entry whenever you arrive.”
Audrey, puzzled, was speechless.
After this exchange, she separated from the guard.
At the front door, he faces the facial recognition lock.
To her astonishment, she opened it.
Cornell had not deleted it from the system.
She thought that perhaps Cornell, busy with other matters, had not updated it, especially considering that a new house would probably be purchased for any future marriage in the Clement family.
