“Look at my two sons and my two grandsons.Do you think they can take over the reins of the Quincey family?”
As for his three granddaughters, Zeke did not even mention them because they were unlikely to take over the Quincey family in any way.
“Didn’t you always have high hopes for Xavier? In recent years, all the outsiders thought you would hand over the reins to him,” the butler answered.
Xavier was Zeke’s eldest son, and he had been gradually managing the Quincey family in recent years.
Everyone thought that the Quincey family would ultimately belong to him.
However, Zeke’s new idea caught all of them by surprise.
At the mention of his eldest son, Zeke sighed.
“He does have a great business acumen, and the Quincey family should do well if handed over to him, but…”
He paused for a moment before continuing, “He is ruthless.Anyone who inconveniences him, whether his siblings or children, will suffer. At this age, I don’t want to see anything happen to my sons and grandsons, so I can’t hand over the Quinceys to him.”
The butler recalled how Xavier conducted his business and began to break out in cold sweat.
“What about your second son? He’s not as ruthless as Xavier, sir.”
“He is indeed better in this aspect, but sometimes he is too indecisive. If the Quinceys are in his hands, it will be difficult for us to make any progress for many years.”
Zeke felt troubled as both of his sons had their shortcomings.
Listening to him, Zeke’s butler knew that he had analyzed his sons thoroughly.
“What about your grandsons? Don’t you think they are capable enough?”
In his opinion, Zeke’s grandsons were capable in their own right, and they had good character.
Hence, they could lead the Quinceys.
Zeke shook his head helplessly.
“They’re still too inexperienced.”
“I brought back Eustace and the others to make them feel anxious. Also, it’ll help to train them.”
Upon hearing that, realization struck the old butler.
“Are you planning to use Eustace and others as their whetstones?”
“Yes, that’s the idea,” Zeke nodded.
He could not let his lifelong career be handed over to outsiders, even if Eustace shared the same surname.
No one knew about the conversation between them.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the Quincey Manor, Danika was stopped by someone before she could even get in the car.
“Hello, can I hitch a ride with you?” a cheerful young man asked, beaming with a smile.
If it weren’t for the fact that he had just come out of Quincey Manor, Danika would have thought he was a college student who couldn’t afford a taxi.
“What a pity,” she thought to herself.
What Do You Want?
“What do you want?” Danika asked.
She didn’t have time to participate in the act he was putting on.
The Quinceys seemed really complicated. She had just met with Eustace, and Zeke had pulled her aside for a talk.
Now an innocent -looking young man appeared out of nowhere, but who knew what he was up to? Julian Quincey was embarrassed by her bluntness.
When he stayed silent, Danika was about to enter the car and leave.
However, Julian didn’t intend to give up just yet.
He stopped Danika again and said, “I really just want to hitch a ride with you.I’m not up to anything else.”
“Does the Quinceys not have a driver? Even if there is no driver, you expect me to believe you can’t afford to buy a car?”
Danika sneered, finding his lack of intelligence amusing. The way she ruthlessly tore into him made Julian more embarrassed.
“Just because we have a car doesn’t mean we can’t hitch a ride.I think you’re very charming. What’s wrong with trying to hitch a ride with you?”
Danika just looked at him silently.
Julian couldn’t even defend his actions.
In the end, he admitted defeat, “Okay, I’ll admit it.I was just curious about your relationship with Eustace.”
Danika laughed.
She knew he had approached her because of Eustace.
Unfortunately for him, he was a little too naive to survive in the Quincey family.
“You’re wondering about our relationship?”
“Yeah.” Julian nodded.
“I’m really curious.”
Danika grinned as she replied, “I’m not telling you.Look it up yourself.”
With that, she got into the car and left Quincey Manor.
By the time the car was completely out of sight, Julian finally came to his senses.
“Hey! What’s going on? Can’t you just tell me?”
He could find out for himself but didn’t want to waste his time.
“Julian, you’re being too obvious.Did you really think she would tell you just like that?” Luke Quincey said, his words filled with ridicule.
Julian turned to glare at him.
“Well, dear cousin, if you are so capable, why don’t you try it yourself?”
“Try what? I don’t even care about Eustace. He’s just an outsider. How powerful can he be?” Luke sneered.
In his view, the Quinceys were destined to belong to his father.
After his father passed away, the Quinceys would be his.
As for Eustace, he didn’t care about him at all.
However, Julian didn’t think so.
“Eustace isn’t that simple. You should be wary about him, so be careful not to lose in your own game.”
Then, he got up and left, not staying to talk to Luke longer.
They were both competing against each other, although it appeared as if only their fathers were competing.
Watching Julian leave, Luke’s expression turned gloomy, “Eustace Quincey…I want to see how capable you really are.”
When Danika arrived at Zellweger Castle, James and Brandon were already in the living room.It took Danika a while to remember that her father had invited them to dinner. She had almost forgotten about it because of Eustace.
“James,” Danika called as she greeted them, trying hard to act normal.
James nodded at her.
Although Danika disguised it well, he still noticed something was amiss.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
“No, nothing happened.”
Danika shook her head, not wanting him to dwell on the topic.
“Are we going to have dinner?”
“We were waiting for you,” Graham answered as he approached him.
He didn’t ask where Danika had been but instead ushered James and Brandon toward the dining room.
No Rush
At the dining table, Danika was not in a good mood because of what had transpired with Eustace.
Meanwhile, Jolene was in a good mood.
Seating between James and Brandon, she alternated between enquiring about James’s well-being and putting food on Brandon’s plate.
