Filed to story: My Husband Regrets Divorcing Me (Audrey & Cornell)
His face lost all color, turning ghostly pale.
Cornell instantly regretted his harsh words, realizing that his anger had gotten the better of him. His anger stemmed from her seeming indifference to him all that time.
“You’re right,” Audrey said suddenly, his voice breaking and his eyes filling with tears.
“I’m indecisive.” That’s why she had fallen back in love with him. That was why she was giving him so much thought, not wanting to overwhelm him.
Exhausted, Audrey pleaded, “Please let me go. I don’t want to miss my flight.”
Mistaking her words for her desperate desire to leave with Henley, Cornell’s anger flared, distorting his handsome features.
His lips, now cold and intense, pressed against her neck.
Audrey winced at the sharp pain as he bit her hard.
This bastard! What was he thinking? He had just insulted her, and now this?
Feeling deeply offended, Audrey pushed him away.
“Stop it! Let go of me!”
He insisted, leaving marks on her neck and chest. Then he paused, taunting her, “Why pretend, didn’t you used to enjoy this?”
“That was in the past. Things have changed.”
Audrey bit her lip, holding back tears of humiliation.
He held her chin tightly.
“Answer me, do you really want to go with him?”
“Yes,” Audrey said firmly.
“Henley saved me. I owe him.”
“He saved you, but didn’t I fucking save you too?” Cornell burst out.
“If you’re willing to take care of him, what’s in it for me with you?”
Audrey’s heart contracted, and he replied with deliberate calm, “I appreciate your help, but I hope you can stay out of my life.”
Audrey thought about Luciana’s words and reminded herself that it was best to keep her distance. Luciana had pointed out that she could offer Cornell no real support.
A wave of despair washed over Cornell, his eyes grew stormy.
“Gratitude is not what I seek. I need more than that.”
“What do you mean by…?”
Shock spread across Audrey’s face as he felt the button of his pants unbutton.
“You bastard! We’re not together anymore! You have no right to do this!”
Cornell’s gaze hardened as he leaned closer, a grimace on his lips.
“You can’t tell me what I can and can’t fucking do!”.
Audrey’s emotions boiled over, tears streaming down his face.
“Cornell, you can’t make me. Many might willingly be with you, but I’m not one of them.”
Her face, bathed in tears, was a picture of defiance and anguish.
Cornell felt a pang in his heart as if he had been struck by lightning. He realized that all this was futile.
She believed he was demeaning her, and he felt he was demeaning himself. He had offered her his sincerity, but she had rejected it out of hand.
Abruptly, he released her and coldly ordered, “Get out.”
Audrey, his face wet with tears, quietly straightened his clothes and stepped out of Cornell’s car without another word.
Outside Cornell’s car, Henley sat nearby in a wheelchair, watching the scene with a seemingly indifferent expression.
Beneath his expression, however, his heart had turned to ice.
When Audrey got out of the car, he was surprised to see Henley there.
Before she could speak, Henley interrupted her, “It’s cold outside.
Please get in the car.”
Feeling too embarrassed to stand Henley’s stare any longer, Audrey quickly turned and walked toward Henley’s car.
Cornell, meanwhile, looked disheveled, his neck full of scratches from their recent fight.
He left the car door open and adjusted his shirt collar, letting Henley see the mess inside.
Surprisingly, Henley let out a chuckle.
“Mr. Clement, I understand.
Audrey’s appeal is irresistible. I had a hard time controlling myself when I first tasted her,” he said, a mocking tone in his voice emphasizing the last sentence.
Cornell’s eyes flashed with anger.
“What did you say?”
“I must admit. Audrey’s charm is irresistible. I couldn’t contain myself when I first tasted her. I lost control…” repeated Henley.
Cornell scoffed and interrupted, relentlessly exposing Henley, “Are you trying to stimulate me into hurting you so Audrey will take pity on you?”
Despite Cornell’s harsh words, Henley still had a gentle smile.
“Mr. Clement, why don’t you see for yourself? Then, you’ll know if I’m stimulating you or not.”
Cornell opened his phone and looked at several photos with cold eyes. They were pictures of Audrey sent by an anonymous sender.
She wasn’t naked, but her clothes were disheveled, which made her look more charming and tempting.
Cornell had seen her like that many times, and that was what she looked like after sex.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang.
It turned out that Cornell smashed his phone against the car window.
Then it fell to the ground, smashed to pieces.
Cornell ran out of the car with a fierce expression. He clenched his fists tightly and punched Henley hard in the face.
Henley’s wheelchair overturned and fell to the ground. But Cornell didn’t stop. Cornell continued to throw punches at Henley with ferocity.
Cornell’s eyes were bloodshot and he was completely out of control. As he madly punched Henley, he angrily shouted, “You bastard! How dare you take pictures of him? I’ll send you to hell.”
Henley’s housekeeper was stunned for a moment. But when she realized what was happening, she rushed to Henley’s car to call Audrey.
As soon as Audrey got out of the car, she saw Cornell pressing Henley to the ground and punching Henley.
She was shocked. Cornell was so furious he looked like a demon from hell. She had never seen him so mad.
“Cornell, what are you doing, are you crazy, stop it!”
Audrey rushed over and tried to pull Cornell’s arm. However, he failed. He was as strong as a ferocious beast.
Henley’s leg was injured, so he could only lie on the ground helplessly and let Cornell hit him. It was as if he was allowing Cornell to vent his anger on him.
Audrey’s hand was shaking uncontrollably. He pulled out his phone and called the emergency line.
“Please send your people. Someone is attacking my friend. We’re in…
Ah!” The phone in Audrey’s hand suddenly went flying. Audrey was so startled that he screamed.
Cornell looked at Audrey with piercing eyes. He had never felt so disappointed. He felt the shiver spread throughout his body.
He asked word for word, “Do you know what kind of person you’re defending?”
When Audrey looked at Cornell and saw the unspeakable disappointment on his face, his heart shrank for a moment.
Henley, still lying on the floor, suddenly said, “Audrey, don’t be afraid of him. When I recover, I won’t let him go easily.”
Audrey could no longer bear Cornell’s intense stare. He felt he could hardly breathe. He looked away and checked Henley’s condition.
