Unfamiliar With Her
The two were talking and didn’t notice that Jolene was still there.
Jolene couldn’t believe it. Danika, who came from the countryside, knew James?
And why did they seem so close?
Jolene suddenly realized she didn’t know a thing about Danika, which scared her.
“Do you know Mr. Windsor, sister?” Jolene approached them with a smile. Although both families were from the top ten families in Bardoff City, the
Windsor family was considered more prominent, and Jolene saw them as a good choice for in-laws. However, James had always been indifferent toward her, ignoring her whenever they met at dinner parties. Only Brandon would follow her around.
Danika nodded and smiled. “Yes.”
“What a coincidence! Mr. Windsor and I know each other too,” Jolene said, but her eyes were fixed on James.
Hearing that, James frowned and turned to look at Jolene.
Jolene Zellweger. He knew the name but was familiar with her. He continued talking to Danika, “The party is almost over. Shall I take you back?”
Danika hesitated and scanned the room for Eustace but couldn’t find him. She then agreed, saying, “Okay, I’ll trouble you then.”
Of course, the Zellwegers had a driver waiting for them outside, but Danika felt that she didn’t need to be so reserved due to her relationship with James. Since he offered to drive her home, she had no reason to refuse. Jolene almost turned green with jealousy, but still, she put on a smile and said,
“Mr. Windsor, I’m going home too?”
Her eyes were begging him to take her along.
Danika was relieved that she had never thought of Jolene as her younger sister. She would have been embarrassed if she had.
“Do you really need me to send you back, Miss Jolene?” James was indifferent toward Jolene, and he had no intention of driving her home. Jolene, however, persisted. “If you’re sending my sister back, what’s wrong with sending me back too?” She viewed the Windsor and Zellweger families as equals, despite the Windsors’ greater prominence. She wondered why he treated her that way.
“No,” James refused bluntly.
Jolene was furious, but she dared not offend him. She turned to Danika and tried to appeal to their supposed sisterhood. “Sis-“
“Stop it. Do you really think of me as your sister?” Danika found the suggestion amusing;
Aside from pretending to be sisters in front of Graham, Danika couldn’t be bothered to put up with the act.
Jolene couldn’t force herself to smile anymore.
At a loss for words, she watched the car drive away, clenching her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her flesh. She was determined not to let Danika take everything that belonged to her.
At the hotel entrance, Danika got into James’s car, and they left. Eustace appeared from a corner after they were gone. He had seen Danika looking for him at the party but didn’t reveal himself. He knew that acknowledging her in public would only cause her more trouble.
Eustace felt uneasy watching Danika leave with another man. He recognized James from the Parrington auction, where he had come to Danika’s rescue. Apparently, he was a senior student under Danika’s mentor. However, Eustace wasn’t sure if
James treated her as a fellow student. The uncertainty troubled him.
Kneel Down and Beg Me Now
In James’s car, the atmosphere was pleasant as the two chatted about various things, catching up with each other.
At the thought of their mentor, Danika missed him. “I wonder where he has Gone.”
“I have no idea,” James answered. “The old man never contacts me. I thought you would know.”
Despite Danika being Mr. Birkett’s secret student, she received more love and affection from Mr. Birkett, which made James jealous of her.
Danika smiled wryly. “I haven’t been able to contact him for a long time.”
“Don’t worry. He has spent many years like this. He knows what he’s doing.”
James knew what she was worried about and tried to comfort her.
Danika nodded and asked, “James, when will you be free? Let me treat you to dinner.”
James had been very kind to her. When they were under Mr. Birkett’s mentorship, James had always guided her, so Danika wanted to thank him.
“Well, I’m free whenever you are,” James said with a grin. There was no way he would forgo such a precious opportunity.
Danika also laughed when she heard that. “Okay, I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Okay.” James nodded, his heart doing a little happy dance.
Soon, they arrived at the gates of Zellweger Castle, and Danika got ready to get out of the car. However, James hadn’t asked the question he had on his mind the whole night.
“Danika,” he called out her name when she was about to open the car door.
Danika stopped and turned to look at him. “What’s wrong, James?”
“Do you…have a boyfriend now?” Finally, James popped the question. If he wasn’t clear with his question, he wouldn’t be able to sleep well. Danika didn’t expect that question, so she was stunned. Seeing her like that, James quickly explained, “Don’t get me wrong, I just-“
“Don’t worry, I’m not getting any silly ideas. I know you’re just concerned about me,” Danika said with a smile. “I don’t have one yet, but I’m sure you also know that I am a divorcee. I’ve learned not to force things when it comes to romance and let it come naturally.”
Danika never hid her divorce from anyone as she found no reason to do so.
Whether good or bad, it was part of her life, and she didn’t care what others said.
“Oh,” James responded, feeling relieved that she didn’t have a boyfriend. As for being a divorcee, it didn’t bother James very much. He knew that Danika had been married for two years but had never met her husband at all.
“Feelings can’t be forced, so you must think carefully,” James reminded her again.
Danika nodded. She opened the car door and walked out. James followed suit.He escorted her to the door, where he watched her walk into the house. He didn’t turn until she vanished from his sight. After that, he returned to his car and left.
Meanwhile, Eustace also left the party after Danika was gone. He had no business staying any longer as he had only gone to see Danika. Now that she had left, there was no need for him to stay.
Just as he was about to get in the car, Jolene suddenly approached him.
“How brave of you to attend this party.” Jolene folded her arms across her chest. She was pent up with frustration. Now that she had run into someone she could pick on, she decided to use him as an outlet for her anger.
Ignoring her, Eustace was about to open the car door. However, Jolene did not let him go easily. With a wave, a group of bodyguards surrounded Eustace.
“If you kneel and beg me now, I may consider letting you go.” Jolene smiled as she stared him down, speaking to him in a merciful tone.
Are You Afraid Now?
Looking at the bodyguards surrounding him, Eustace frowned. “What are you trying to do?”
“What am I trying to do?” Jolene asked with a chuckle, finding him rather interesting.
Raising her chin, she walked up to him. “Weren’t you acting all high and mighty? Didn’t you say you were going to intervene? I thought you were so powerful.” Before investigating his background, she thought he was a son who hailed from a powerful secret family. After all, she knew almost all the children of the Ten
Elites of Bardoff City, and she had never seen him. However, after her investigation, she burst out laughing. Did Eustace think that he was all that just because he had some influence in Parrington? How dare he behave so arrogantly and brashly in a place like Bardoff City where important figures hid in plain sight.
“Kneel down and apologize to me!” Jolene decided she would have to experience that satisfaction no matter what. After all, Eustace was Danika’s ex husband. If he knelt and apologized, it would feel like she managed to get at Danika too, which would make her feel much better.
Eustace didn’t budge. “What if I don’t?”
With a scoff, Jolene waved at her bodyguards, and they rushed toward Eustace in an instant. Eustace didn’t panic. He took off his blazer leisurely and rolled up his sleeves before he began brawling with the bodyguards that rushed over.
At first, Jolene smiled brightly, eagerly waiting for Eustace to be escorted over and forced to kneel in front of her, begging for mercy. However, the longer she waited, the more her smile faded.
She had brought a dozen bodyguards with her, but they were no match for Eustace.
“Useless! You’re all useless!” Jolene roared. As she took out her mobile phone to make a phone call, she screamed. “Get him! I want to see how good you are at fighting!”
She began making a phone call. Maybe he could take down more than ten people at once. But what about twenty? Thirty? There was only one thought in her head-Eustace had to kneel and apologize to her. However, as soon as she finished making the phone call, the last of her bodyguards fell to the ground, and Eustace was already in front of her. He looked like a demon from hell. Before Jolene could speak, he grabbed her jaw and lifted her up.
“Let go! Let me go!” Losing her breath, she stared at Eustace in horror. From the murderous look in his eyes, she could see how much he wanted to kill her, and it scared her. He was simply a devil, and it was no wonder to Jolene that he took a liking to Danika.
Eustace didn’t let her go. Instead, he squeezed her jaw harder. “I thought you wanted me to kneel down and apologize? What? Are you afraid now?”
“I—” Jolene wanted to say something but couldn’t speak at all.
“It just so happens that the sight of you makes me upset. Also, I think killing you will save Danika some trouble.” He knew that Jolene deliberately made things difficult for Danika that night, which added to his animosity toward Jolene.
Unexpectedly, Jolene delivered herself into his hands. While Jolene couldn’t speak, she could hear Eustace and her eyes widened in disbelief.
“I…I am the Zellweger family’s…” She wanted to say that she was the daughter of the Zellweger family, and Eustace could not do anything to her. However, she was losing her breath, and halfway through her sentence, her face was as red as a tomato.
“If you die, the Zellwegers would only have one daughter, right?” Eustace grinned like the Devil.
At this moment, he couldn’t think about the consequences of killing Jolene. All he could think of was how she plotted against Danika
I’m Disciplining Your Daughter for You
“What are you doing? Let go of my daughter!” Rowena rushed out with a group of bodyguards after receiving Jolene’s call.
She had rushed, thinking all she needed to do was to help her daughter teach someone a lesson. She didn’t care whose fault it was and wanted to support her daughter immediately. However, she was shocked to see her daughter in Eustace’s hands, her face flushed from lack of air.”Mom…” Jolene managed to say, tears streaming down her face. Rowena was angry and anxious, “Sir, let my daughter go. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
Eustace was indifferent. “1 just want her life.”
Rowena tried to intimidate him by saying. “Do you know who she is? She is the daughter of the Zellweger family. If you attack the Zellwegers, you won’t leave here alive.”
Jolene was losing consciousness and waved her hands frantically, but Eustace was unmoved. In fact, her mother’s words only disgusted Eustace.
