“Thank you, Lyse, but… I am more interested in an entertainment career. After all, I’m a student at the Solana Film Academy. I hope to become an actress after graduation.” Tatiana was soft¨Cspoken and rather unconfident.
Lyla had endured bullying in the entertainment industry. So, Winston strongly disagreed with Tatiana’s choice to attend Solana Film Academy and enter the industry.
After that, Tatiana quit her studies in Grunsland. She came home to study at Solana Film Academy for half a year without Winston knowing.
In the end, he begrudgingly gave his approval. However, he added the condition that she would have to obey the family’s arrangement post¨Cgraduation. Otherwise, she shouldn’t claim that she was the daughter of Winston Taylor.
To realize her dreams, she needed to succeed in the entertainment industry. She wanted to change Winston’s prejudice against the profession and to wow him with her capabilities.
“I see. That’s your plan. Great. You have my full support in chasing your dreams!” Alyssa wrapped an arm around Tatiana’s shoulders with a glimmer of worry in her eyes.
She added, “Still, the entertainment industry can be rather predatory and exploitative. No one will look at a newbie with no money or connections. You can’t get a decent job.
“So, don’t be humble when you attend auditions. You only need one line on your resume¨Cthe daughter of Winston Taylor! I guarantee that things will go smoothly for you!”
“I might upset him if I namedrop him, knowing he’s against my decision to be an actress. Tatiana found the suggestion a tad ridiculous.
She continued, “I won’t feel a sense of accomplishment if all I do is piggyback on my dad’s influence. I want to prove that I made the right decision through my effort, not through an easy way out.”
“Being ambitious is good. You’re indeed a Taylor!” Alyssa sighed and pinched Tatiana’s cheek. “I’m just worried that you might suffer.”
Tatiana was almost perfect. However, she was gentle and reserved, much like Lyla. As such, she would be trampled on in the cutthroat entertainment industry.
“Lyse, can I ask you something?” After some hesitation, Tatiana asked in a hushed voice. 1
“Do you want to ask me about your ex¨Cbrother¨Cin¨Claw?”
“Yeah.” Nodding furiously, Tatiana looked regretful. “Why would you choose divorce? Was he bad to you?”
“No. We were incompatible. That’s all,” Alyssa answered indifferently.
“Umm… He’s the president of the Walsh Group. He must have been too busy with work and neglected you. That was why you decided to go separate ways.”
Alyssa furrowed her brows. “Why have you not considered the possibility of infidelity?”
“That’s impossible.” Tatiana waved dismissively.
“How so?”
“He’s pretty rich. What if you killed him before he got to spend his wealth?”
Alyssa chortled. It seemed that she had always been perceived as a ruthless character in the family.
Her phone started ringing at that moment. She checked the caller ID and was shocked to see
Jeremy’s name.
With a long face, she hurriedly dragged her feet in her velvet slippers and made her way to the drawing room, where she picked up the call.
“What now?”
You picked up pretty fast this time.” His low and deep voice sounded clear.
“If so, do give me a five¨Cstar review, dear sir,” she said sarcastically with a flippant attitude.
Choking, he replied sternly, “I’m leaving the hospital tomorrow. You should visit Seaview Manor.”
“Tomorrow? What’s the rush?” She smirked.
“Remember to stop by Seaview Manor tomorrow. I’ll be waiting.”
She turned him down without hesitation, “I’m busy, and I’ll never step into that place anymore.
Let’s stop contacting each other and end the call here.”
After a pause, he reminded her, “You left behind lots of stuff. Don’t you want to take them with you?”
It seemed that Liana would move into Seaview Manor as the future Mrs. Walsh and live with
Jeremy soon.
Alyssa was understanding because she would have felt upset at the belongings of Jeremy’s ex-
wife lying around too.
“So, I guess they’re a problem for you? Why don’t you throw them out instead of asking me?” Her voice was wintry.
“What about the gifts from you? Do you want me to throw them out too?”
She smirked. “Those were gifts from Allison Burton, not me. They might be treasure in her eyes, but they are nothing more than garbage to me.”
She left Jeremy choking on anger.
“Call up my secretary if there’s anything else. I don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers. I’m hanging up.”
“Alyssa.”
“Are you done?” She raised her voice out of irritation.
“What about the costumes? You take great care of them. Do you want to throw them out as well?”
His voice hardened with a hint of threat. “If you don’t pick them up, I’ll deal with them as I see fit because no one’s claiming them.”
Alyssa felt her heart squeezing in her hesitation. The exquisite costumes were handmade by Lyla and were once part of Lyla’s private collection.
Lyla generously allowed her to pick a few costumes she liked when she mentioned wanting to cheer up Newton with a costume show. Not only that, Lyla gave her the costumes for free.
She finally budged because she refused to have Jeremy throw out stuff Lyla kindly gifted her. “
Sean will drop by Seaview Manor tomorrow.”
“I want you here in person.” Jeremy was adamant, as though he’d won the negotiation. “I will not allow him to enter the manor if he comes alone. I will wait for you at the villa. That’s it.”
Then, he hung up on her.
“Shit!” Alyssa was livid as she glared at the screen that had gone dark. She was dismayed by how.
he had used her clothes as a bargaining chip to meet her.
She huffed dismissively at that thought. She had decided to just take it as a battle!
The next morning, Alyssa and Tatiana headed to the dining hall for breakfast hand¨Cin¨Chand after washing up.
Jonah was out early for an important company meeting. Only Winston, his three wives, and Silas were present at the dining table.
“Look at you, sleepyheads! You’re pretty late. We’re waiting for you.” Silas rested his cheek on his hand and poked fun at the ladies.
“I chatted through the night with Taty because we hadn’t seen each other for a while. We slept past midnight.” Alyssa yawned. Her eyes were bloodshot.
In contrast, Tatiana looked fresh and awake with a rosy complexion. She did not show any hint of tiredness. Alyssa envied the vitality of young college students, which she’d sadly never regain.
Winston sat at the head of the table, staring at Alyssa unhappily. One could tell from his dark circles that he did not sleep well. No one had expected the top billionaire of Belbanks to grieve hard for the loss of his antique chair.
However, Alyssa was ment*lly resilient. She had put the affairs from yesterday behind as she enjoyed her breakfast. The chair had been given out anyway. It would be ridiculous to ask for it back. She believed they should accept the reality.
Alyssa was about to leave when they were almost done with breakfast. At that moment, Winston addressed in a frosty tone, “Buttercup, do you still have any feelings for that Walsh guy?”
The rest of the family felt uneasy at the question. Surprisingly, Alyssa was cooler than anyone about that question. She replied calmly, “No.”
“Does that mean you have put the divorce behind you?”
“Winston, we have known each other for 24 years Just speak your mind. Stop beating around the bush and sounding me out.” She wiped her mouth gracefully with a napkin.
“Alright. I will be frank. Neil!” Winston yelled, and his head secretary, Neil Benson, rushed over..
Then, Winston sent the file soaring in the air before it landed with a thud in front of Alyssa.
