Her gaze fell on the unsigned divorce papers still lying on the table.
Any sensible man would have signed them immediately – she was asking for nothing but what was rightfully hers.
“Go pack your things,” Victoria said softly to Robert. “It’s time for us to leave this place.”
Within moments, Victoria packed up and went downstairs with Robert.
They had packed only the essentials – items that truly belonged to them.
Anything purchased by Carter or the Myers family was left untouched.
To Victoria, those things just sucked. Just like Carter himself.
The housekeeper, Sarah Hyland, stared in disbelief at their luggage. “Mrs. Myers? Robert? What’s all this?”
Victoria met her gaze briefly. “Sarah, please handle everything Robert and I left here.”
“Of course, Mrs. Myers. I’ll have it organized right away,” Sarah replied promptly.
“Not organized, Sarah,” Victoria corrected, her voice cold as she studied the housekeeper’s earnest face.
“I want all traces of us gone from this house. It’s all trash anyway. Just toss it.”
“Mrs. Myers, what’s happened?” Sarah asked, her expression growing anxious.
“Sarah, I divorced Carter. This house has nothing to do with us anymore. Take care of yourself. Bye.” With those final words, Victoria picked up her bag, took Robert’s hand, and walked out.
She had already arranged for a car. As they stepped outside, the sound of an idling engine confirmed the driver had arrived.
“Mrs. Myers… does Mr. Myers know you’re leaving?” Sarah’s voice followed them, but Victoria didn’t look back. She simply walked out of Myers Manor for the last time.
Settling into the car, Victoria took a deep, cleansing breath.
It felt incredibly liberating to finally be rid of all that trash.
“Mommy, do you think that jerk is busy fawning over his precious darling right now?” Robert stared out the window and sighed dramatically. “And that Jenarth kid suddenly fainting? I bet it was all an act! Too bad some people have negative IQs – completely blind and clueless.”
Victoria couldn’t help but smile at her son’s sharp tongue. “Trash belongs with trash. Let’s hope they stay tangled up together forever!”
Carter, this was your choice. May you always believe your precious darling is perfect.
What a joke!

When Carter arrived at Starlight Hotel, a doctor was conducting a thorough examination of Jenarth. The boy, who had been unconscious, had just woken up and was speaking to the doctor in a weak, trembling voice.
“Doctor… am I going to die?” Jenarth’s words were barely a whisper, shaky with tears yet bravely uttered.
“Jenarth, don’t say that! You’ll be fine. Nothing will happen to you. You’re my precious baby, you have to stay with me. You’ll be okay, you have to be okay.” Isabella knelt by the bedside, her face streaked with tears, her makeup ruined.
Carter’s heart clenched at the sight. He rushed to the bed, his eyes fixed on Jenarth.
“Jenarth, how are you feeling?”
Jenarth struggled to look up. The moment he saw Carter, his eyes lit up. “Daddy Carter! You came to see me!”
The doctor gently restrained him. “Please don’t move. The examination isn’t finished yet.”
“But Doctor, I feel fine now! Seeing Daddy Carter made all the pain go away!” Jenarth exclaimed, his voice suddenly stronger, color returning to his cheeks.
The doctor was taken aback – the boy had been pale just moments ago. He sighed inwardly, thinking how heartbreaking it was to see a child trying so hard to be brave and sweet in front of his parents.
“Just lie still and let me finish the checkup. Your stomach has been bothering you – it’s likely something you ate or a minor stomach bug.” The doctor continued his work carefully.
“Mommy, Daddy Carter came to see me! I’m so happy!” Jenarth looked at Isabella, his expression slightly aggrieved. “I’m such a mess, making Daddy Carter come so late. Mommy, you have to thank him for me.”
Isabella squeezed his hand. “Don’t cry, Jenarth. I’m here.”
Carter was moved by Jenarth’s maturity. “Don’t be afraid, Jenarth. I’m here. I’ll stay with you until you’re completely better.”
“Thank you, Daddy Carter.” Jenarth’s reply was soft and heartbreakingly sweet.
The doctor soon completed the examination. It was nothing serious – just a minor stomach issue, probably from overeating or eating something disagreeable. He left some digestive and anti-inflammatory medication before departing.
Jenarth looked somewhat guilty, mumbling, “Daddy Carter, I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I couldn’t resist all the delicious food, and I was so excited to see you that I ate too much. My stomach just couldn’t handle it.”
Carter felt a pang of responsibility. Isabella had told him that during her tours abroad, Jenarth always ate simple meals with the nanny and had always dreamed of a grand seafood feast.
So Carter had taken them out for seafood. Jenarth had overeaten and gotten a stomachache.
All these years, Isabella and Jenarth had been living overseas. It couldn’t have been easy for them.
Now that they were back in Capaville, he wouldn’t let them struggle anymore.
“I’ll arrange for someone to take care of both of you from now on. You’ll have everything you need, and this won’t happen again.” Carter comforted Jenarth. “With me here, no one will ever bully you again.”
“Daddy Carter, I love you so much!” Jenarth hugged him tightly. “I wish you were really my dad!”
Carter froze for a moment.
Isabella quickly interjected, “I’m sorry,
Carter. Jenarth is just too affectionate. He’s never had a father, and his greatest wish is to have one. I’ve told him not to call you that. I’m sorry…”
Carter’s expression softened. “It’s fine. Jenarth is a wonderful boy. If he wants to call me that, he can. I like him too.”
“Daddy Carter! Can you stay with me tonight? I want you here. If my stomach hurts again, I’m afraid Mommy will panic.” Jenarth ducked his head, looking nervous.
Seeing how much the boy wanted him to stay, Carter agreed immediately. “Alright, I’ll stay with you tonight. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Thank you, Carter,” Isabella said softly.
Carter noticed Isabella’s eyes reddening with emotion. He felt a surge of pity for her and was about to hand her a tissue when his phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID – the home landline. His brow furrowed. Was Victoria causing trouble again?
Reluctantly, he answered, wanting to avoid further drama. “Victoria, Jenarth had a stomach issue from something he ate. I just came over to – “
Before he could finish, Sarah’s panicked voice cut him off, “Mr. Myers! Mrs. Myers has left with Robert!”
“What did you say?” Carter froze, convinced he’d misheard. He shot out of his chair, his voice trembling with a sharp edge of anger. “Repeat that – where in the world did she go?”
“Mr. Myers, Mrs. Myers took Robert and left,” Sarah replied, pausing for a beat as if afraid to deliver the rest. “She said she’s never coming back… and she told me to clear out everything in the house that’s theirs – throw it all away, she said.”
“Victoria!” Carter’s grip on his phone tightened until his knuckles blanched white. He snarled her name through gritted teeth before slamming the call ended.
