Colton picked up Colton and followed Lilly.
Bettany and Hugh followed behind.
Lilly went straight to the kitchen. Pablo had said that she needed fire to summon the lost soul.
She also needed the boy’s clothes…
Margaret asked, “What are you looking for, Little Miss?”
Lilly replied, “I’m searching for a fire pit, papers, and a piece of Ivan’s clothing…”
As she spoke, she glanced at Ivan.
She noticed that there was a flame on top of his head.
Speechless, Lilly quietly asked, “Master, what is that on Ivan’s head?”
Pablo answered, “The flame on his head represents his life force. An incense will appear before a person’s death. The person will die once the fire reaches its end.”
He said, grimacing.
The flame would not appear on those whose lives were in danger but it was not yet their time.
However, death was imminent when the incense appeared.
Was the child not going to survive?
No Faith in Her
While Lilly gathered information on the incense, she was unaware that the appearance of a flame on top of someone’s head symbolized impending death.
All she learned from Pablo was that the person would die when the flame burned to the end of the incense.
Feeling pressed for time, Lilly urged the adults to hurry. She needed to save Ivan before the incense on his head burned out.
The firepit and ritual paper were not an issue. The family owned a brazier and had papers on which she could write sacred texts.
However, Ivan’s clothes posed a challenge.
Melody suddenly realized that she had one of Ivan’s shirts in the car. She quickly went to retrieve it.
With everything now prepared, Lilly burned the papers over the fire and lit a candle at the door.
Just as Lilly was about to begin, a panting voice interrupted. “Stop!”
Karen arrived on the scene to find Ivan lying on the ground. Next to him, a girl was holding a bundle of papers. Karen was shocked.
“This is nonsense!”
Furious, Karen picked up her cane and smacked the ritual papers out of Lilly’s hands.
It all happened so quickly. Before anyone knew it, Karen was hitting the girl with her cane.
Lilly instinctively raised the back of her hand to shield herself from the blow, flinching in pain and dropping the papers to the ground.
Her hand turned red.
“Ugh…”
The pain brought tears to the girl’s eyes.
The tortoise never predicted anything like this. Why was she being struck?
In a panic and anger, Melody cried out, “Mom! What are you doing?”
She rushed in and positioned herself between Karen and Lilly.
Colton bluntly exclaimed, “Get out!”
Karen was not willing to comply.
Behind Karen, Anthony and the white-browed practitioners appeared.
Karen happened to run into Anthony, who was on his way home. That was how she gained access to the Crawfords’ residence.
Anxious for her grandson, the old lady dashed into the house despite needing a cane to walk.
Since Master Sullivan considered himself otherworldly, he would not hesitate. That’s why he strolled along with Anthony at the back.
Anthony scowled the moment Karen raised her cane at Lilly.
“Old Mrs. Shaw, I let you in because your grandson is here. I didn’t let you enter our home to hit Lilly.”
Karen was all about respecting elders. It didn’t sit well with her that someone younger like Anthony was scolding her. However, her focus was on Ivan, so she pretended not to hear.
“Quick, Master Sullivan. Ivan is here!”
With a serious expression, Anthony asked Margaret to fetch the first-aid kit.
Bettany lost her temper.
So Karen was going to play the age card and act ignorant, huh?
The Crawfords were not going to tolerate this.
“Old hag! Apologize to Lilly now!” Bettany decided to play the same game as the old lady. She lifted her leg and kicked her loafer at Karen.
Smack! It hit Karen right in the face.
Bettany never expected to have such good aim. She was stunned, to say the least.
Karen nearly lost control after being slapped in the face with a loafer. This was an emergency. Why were the Crawfords making a fuss over a minor issue?
“You… Colt, take Ivan with you. We’re leaving now!”
It’s not like she wanted to be at the Crawfords’ residence.
Karen wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for her grandson.
To her dismay, Colton grabbed Karen by the collar and dragged her out. He curtly said, “You go.”
Getting agitated, Karen took advantage of her status as an elder and lay on the ground. She shouted, “Fine! Fine! Come on. I’m not a mother to you if you kick me out!”
She caused a huge commotion!
Shaking his head, Master Sullivan made a mysterious face and said, “It’s too late.”
Lilly held Ivan’s hand and urgently said, “Mister, it will be too late if we don’t save Ivan now.”
Master Sullivan frowned and glanced at Lilly.
The little fake psychic was imitating him.
The little girl had no shame in copying him.
Master Sullivan then looked at the brazier, the burning papers in the pit, and the shirt in her hand.
He scoffed.
Hearing that it was too late, Karen pleaded, “Please, Master Sullivan. Please… Save my grandson!”
Instead of using her age against the Crawfords like before, she showed nothing but sincerity towards the practitioner.
