Chapter 49 – The Princess: Eight Uncles Beloved Treasure Novel (Lily & Crawfords)

Lilly resisted. “Huh? Wait, Granny. I’m still trying to save him.”

She looked puzzled.

Everything had been going well until now. What had happened to Granny?

Bettany said, “Don’t worry, Lilly. Look, the doctors and police officers are here.”

Lilly looked over and saw police cars arriving with their lights flashing. A few black vehicles followed behind.

The Shaws were in those vehicles.

The Shaw family was desperate. Tina and Thomas exclaimed, “Here…”

The duo seemed eager, as if they were part of the rescue operation.

For some unknown reason, the Shaws disregarded them and made a beeline for the Crawford family’s tent.

Thomas and Tina felt embarrassed and humiliated.

Tina asked, “Um… Why are they ignoring us?”

Thomas commented, “They must be anxious. It’s alright. We have a reason to check on the Shaw family’s young heir later.”

“The Crawfords are currently there, so we can’t show our faces yet. We might get caught up in our lies.”

The pair whispered to each other as they returned to their tent.

A stern-faced man, emanating an air of seriousness, approached the Crawfords’ tent.

Curious, Lilly stared at the approaching group.

She silently wondered, “Master, why do they have a golden glow around them?”

Especially the middle-aged man in the lead, he could blind her with his radiance.

Pablo explained, “They have done many good deeds in their lives. They can be considered heroes who served their country.”

With her question answered, Lilly followed up with another inquiry. “Why is there a hint of death amidst the golden glow?”

Through Pablo’s teachings, Lilly was able to recognize death. Aunt Winona carried the scent of death because she had blood on her hands.

It was peculiar that the man was surrounded by a golden glow, yet death lingered around him as well.

Pablo replied, “He has killed others, but only those who were wicked.”

That’s why the aura of death couldn’t come too close to the man. The golden glow shielded him from death.

Lilly had a realization.

Now, she understood.

The man was one of the good guys, the kind who eliminated the bad guys.

Meanwhile, the middle-aged man approached.

Colton Shaw’s serious expression often frightened young children. However, instead of bursting into tears, the little girl gave him the biggest smile.

“Hello, sir!” Lilly greeted him.

Colton paused.

The girl…

Colton had never encountered a child who wasn’t afraid of him, let alone smiled at him.

Somehow, he had a sense of familiarity with her…

Snapping out of his thoughts, Colton nodded and replied, “Hello.”

Pausing for a moment, he asked, “Were you the one who carried Ivan back?”

Lilly responded, “Yeah.”

The little girl had rosy cheeks and chubby cheeks. Her large eyes were clear and bright. It was adorable when she nodded her head while speaking.

Colton couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“Thank you. I’ll bring Ivan to formally thank you soon.” Despite her being a child, Colton’s facial expression remained stern.

The men in black behind him entered the

tent and quickly carried the unconscious boy out.

Colton nodded at Anthony and was about to leave when Lilly interjected, “Mister, you can’t leave…”

With Pablo guiding her, Lilly continued, “He has an unusual illness. You must come find me if he doesn’t wake up.”

Colton nonchalantly nodded.

It was evident that he didn’t take her seriously.

After all, she was just a four-year-old. What could she do?

Colton took Ivan and left.

As he watched the fleet of cars drive away, Lilly couldn’t hide her worried expression.

Bettany said, “Alright, let’s head back.”

The family planned to camp overnight at the wetlands park so that Lilly could enjoy the camping trip, the night sky, and the morning dew.

After everything that had happened, Bettany felt like she was on an emotional roller coaster that she couldn’t get off. The thought of Ivan being kidnapped… It was best for the family to hurry home.

The Crawfords held a family meeting and decided to pack up and drive back to the Crawford Mansion overnight.

Lilly fell asleep in the car…

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s family also packed their things and left once the Crawfords and Shaws were gone.

Tina looked envious. “Sigh. Did you see Lilly just now? Mr. Shaw smiled at her… I can’t believe the girl’s luck. How did she stumble upon the unconscious boy?”

Thomas chimed in, “Yeah! Unlike the Crawford family, who have three boys, the Shaw family only has Ivan… Jeez. Whoever Ivan sets his eyes on in the future is lucky…”

Slumping against her seat, Cheryl pretended to be asleep as she listened to her parents’ conversation.

She felt that the world was unfair. Why was Lady Luck always favoring Lilly?

Cheryl would also be blessed with good fortune if she were born into the Crawford family.

Hmph! What was the big deal anyway?

…

Lilly fell into a deep sleep.

She dreamt about the ghost she had carried back.

The ghost stared at her with a blank but bloody face.

Lilly jolted awake, shuddering. She ran downstairs barefoot and shouted, “Granny!”

Noticing Lilly’s bare feet, Bettany said, “You’re up, Lilly. Why aren’t you wearing your shoes?”
