Howard observed the situation with a cold gaze. Since he had not publicly announced his divorce from Vera, her actions could reflect poorly on him as well. He warned her firmly, “Every project Mr. Adams personally oversees involves billions of dollars. If any details are leaked, you’ll face severe repercussions. Apologize to Mr. Adams immediately!”

The two of them seemed united in accusing Vera of deception and overstepping boundaries. Aimee struggled to suppress her amusement.

She had encountered many foolish people before, but none as clueless as these two.

She had permitted Vera to join the meeting, yet they still hadn’t grasped what Vera really was. She wondered if their ignorance was due to unwillingness or simply a lack of courage.

A sarcastic smile appeared on Vera’s face.

Lily approached with a worried expression. “Vera, I understand you want to prove yourself, but fabricating stories won’t help. The truth will eventually come out. I’m saying this for your benefit. It’s fine to make mistakes as long as you correct them.”

Vera recoiled with disdain. “Hmm… Are you being overly intrusive? Aimee hasn’t complained. Why does it concern you?”

“You…” Lily felt embarrassed. She didn’t expect Vera to respond this way in front of Victor.

Seeing Lily nearly in tears, Howard remarked coldly, “Lily has only acted out of concern for you. You fail to appreciate her efforts. I’m quite disappointed.”

Acting as though she were heartbroken, Lily sighed and addressed Victor with a helpless tone. “Mr. Adams, as you can see, Vera is quite stubborn. I apologize for her behavior. She didn’t mean any harm; she’s just eager to prove herself.”

Victor observed them with a faint smile. “Perhaps you should think before speaking. Is Miss Montgomery truly as inadequate as you claim?”

Vera was taken aback, her eyes wide with surprise. Due to his reputation for being aloof, she hadn’t really expected Victor to defend her.

While watching with delight, Aimee felt that Howard and Victor were actually a perfect match.

Lily, stunned, asked, “You… What are you talking about, Mr. Adams?”

With a casual smile, Victor turned to Vera and said, “Miss Montgomery, why don’t you tell them that you’re actually Iris?”

Vera was stunned, unable to believe Victor had identified her as Iris so quickly.

Howard, however, furrowed his brow. He had always seen Vera as nothing more than a housewife with ambitions, focused solely on daily life. He couldn’t accept that she was Iris standing beside him.

Lily stared at Vera in disbelief. She couldn’t believe what was happening.

It simply wasn’t possible.

She even suspected that Victor had been misled by Vera.

Maintaining her smile with effort, Lily said, “Mr. Adams, you might not be familiar with Vera like we are. She’s skilled at deception and presenting herself in a flattering light. How could she possibly be…”

Howard’s gaze turned icy as he looked at Vera. “Vera, you’d better come clean. You’ll have to face the consequences of your lies.”

Vera ignored them entirely.

Aimee held Vera’s arm and gestured toward Victor.

“Mr. Adams, please follow me this way.”

Victor responded with a nod, and they moved ahead.

Howard fixed a steely gaze on Vera’s retreating figure.

Moments later, he scoffed. He still couldn’t believe Vera could be Iris. How could a housewife be the world’s top designer?

He thought she was aware her deception would soon be revealed and was deliberately keeping quiet to mislead Victor.

It seemed like a ploy to appear elusive.

With that in mind, Howard curled his lips in disdain.

Vera was fortunate enough to be Aimee’s friend. Howard believed she probably wanted him to regret his decision to leave her. However, pretending to be Iris to gain his attention would only deepen his disdain.

Aimee had booked a high-end business suite in advance for their meeting, ideal for business negotiations.

Vera poured a cup of tea for herself, and the fragrance of the tea spread throughout the air.

Victor watched her with interest and commented in a mellow voice, “It seems your marriage isn’t going well, Miss Iris.”

With a polite smile, Vera replied professionally, “Shall we discuss the project?”

Aimee took out the files and agreements she had prepared earlier and handed them to Vera.

Victor was known for being a perfectionist, and he had strict requirements regarding the details of the jewelry. He had specifically proposed three themes for the preparation of the new products.

Vera turned to the latest design drafts and pointed at them.

“Mr. Adams, here is a jewelry draft designed according to your specifications. We currently have three designs. If you have any ideas or feedback, please let me know.”

Victor’s eyes widened with surprise. “You completed this so quickly.”

Aimee laughed and said, “Mr. Adams, you wouldn’t have sought us out for collaboration if Vera weren’t highly capable. She completed these on the way to our meeting.”

Victor had previously discussed his requirements only with Aimee, but now Vera had not only grasped them quickly, but her drafts also exceeded his expectations. Vera seemed to perfectly interpret and implement any idea he proposed.

This was the first time he had encountered someone who could fully understand his vision. He felt a deep connection, as if there were a resonance of souls. Victor complimented her, “It’s clear why you’re the top designer, Miss Iris. I like all of these designs.”

Vera gave a small nod and responded calmly, “I’m glad you like them, Mr. Adams.”

Victor set the drafts aside and looked at her with a gentle smile. “I have another question. The Shaw Group is also reaching out to you, Miss Iris. You and Mr. Shaw…”

He paused and rested his hand on the table. His slender fingers tapped idly, and their rhythm matched the sound of a beating heart.

Vera maintained her composure with a slight smile.

“We’ve divorced. I no longer have any association with Howard Shaw. You can be assured of that, Mr. Adams.”

Over the past three years, Howard had deeply hurt her through neglect and disdain. After witnessing his infidelity, she had decided to leave him for good.

Victor raised an eyebrow slightly. He then stared at her deeply. In a warm tone, he asked, “Miss Iris, are you perhaps considering remarrying?”

Vera looked at Victor in surprise. Peering into his deep eyes, she asked, “Mr. Adams, why would you ask such a question?”

Victor gave a faint smile. His voice was hoarse but resonated deeply. As he leaned back in his chair, he explained, “Our future collaboration is extremely confidential. If you had been working for a competitor of ours, it could affect our projects. You understand what I’m implying, Miss Montgomery.”

Vera grasped his point and nodded. She assured him, “You can be confident, Mr. Adams. I will ensure that no personal matters interfere with our work. Besides, from past experiences, I’ve learned not to trust men too easily in matters of love.”
