“Is he good in bed?” the one to Taliana’s left whispered, brimming with excitement at the prospect of finding out. “Molly heard from Josephine who heard from Yulia that Sebastian always makes a girl- Well,? you know . Multiple times, too. Is that true?”
“I’m sure it is,” the other gushed, gripping the upholstered armrest that divided them. “He seems like he would be amazing.”
Taliana tried hard to keep from bashing their heads together as Hawthorne droned on about how there was to be absolutely no smoking on school grounds. He’d already covered the section on violence, and Taliana could have sworn he shot her a pointed look as he did so.
Tweedledee wasn’t deterred by Taliana’s silence. “How often do you guys do it? I heard he was a total sex fiend and had to do it at least ten times a day.”
“No, no,” Tweedledum denied, shaking her head. “You’re confusing him with Michael.
He’s the sex fiend. Someone told me he likes threesomes too. Have you, Seb, and Michael ever had one?”
If this assembly didn’t hurry up and end, two counts of murder were going to be added to Taliana’s already lengthy rap sheet.
“Come on, Talia. You’ve got to tell us something about him.”
God, these girls were so obsessed with the stupid guy. And Taliana had a feeling they weren’t the only ones.
She’d never paid much attention before, but Sebastian had quite the fan club. It had become more and more obvious over the past couple days as girls began to approach him as if Taliana were no longer an obstacle. Sebastian brushed them off with ease, but they both realized something had changed. Apparently, they weren’t fooling anyone anymore, despite that kiss they’d shared.
In fact, it was almost like the girls had been encouraged by the kiss, like they’d decided they needed to make their move before something else happened. Or someone else beat them to it.
At the moment, at least ten or so girls were gazing toward where he was seated several rows ahead of Taliana. A few had dreamy looks on their faces, others were subtly looking him over, and some were even staring unabashedly, their smirks clear indicators of what they were thinking.
Taliana frowned when a pang of jealousy shot through her. It was an emotion she most certainly shouldn’t have been feeling, but for some reason, knowing her fake boyfriend was still the most sought-after guy in school worried her. Though they weren’t really together, and she had no true claim over him, she still felt a bit possessive.
Get your own fake boyfriends!
“Please, Talia,” Tweedledee whined, clasping her hands together as she begged. “Tell us anything .”
Taliana’s gaze went back to Sebastian, who’d just turned to glance over his shoulder and was scanning the crowd. When his eyes locked on Taliana’s a moment later, he rolled them dramatically and mimed shooting himself in the head, making it clear he would rather be elsewhere. He turned back around a moment later, lazily draping an arm across the back of the seat next to him, much to the joy of the girl sitting there.
“Oh my god, he is so gorgeous. Do you even understand how lucky you are?”
Taliana had a feeling neither one of those girls was going to stop until she said something. “Yeah, he’s amazing,” Taliana replied, eyes finding him in the crowd again. “Really amazing.”
She hadn’t thought much about their mistake of a night together since it had happened almost a month ago, but there was no doubt she’d ever fully forget it. And, well, those two girls seemed to have a pretty good idea of what they were missing out on.
“Aw, she’s blushing!” the girl to Taliana’s left squealed, drawing her out of her thoughts. “Are you thinking about the things he does to you?”
“I bet she’s thinking about what she wants to do to? him,” the other tittered, covering her giggles with a hand.
The bell signaling the end of the day rang, saving Taliana from an addition to her record. She clambered over the still-seated students to escape the walls of Georgetown Trinity as quickly as possible, because the sooner she was out, the sooner she could forget about the topics raised in that little chat.
While she was partially successful in forgetting their questions, the memory of the night she’d spent with Sebastian stayed at the front of her mind. Brief flashes of it came and went, sending blood rushing to her cheeks as she scurried out of the building, trying to keep her head down as she shoved open the doors to the parking lot, but her face was still on fire by the time she made it to Sebastian’s car.
He appeared a minute or so later, looking surprised to see Taliana waiting there with her face redder than a tomato.
“You certainly didn’t waste any time getting out of there,” he said, opening the passenger’s side door for her. “Why’re you blushing?”
“I couldn’t stand another moment of being interrogated by the gossip police.” Taliana sighed, putting a hand on top of the door as she turned to face him. “Apparently our sex life is a hot topic.”
“What sex life?” He snorted, moving around to the other side of the car. “What did you say?”
“Oh, I just told them we were waiting until marriage,” she said once they were both inside. “Apparently you had a religious epiphany and decided to become celibate.”
From the look on his face, Taliana could tell Sebastian wasn’t sure if she was joking or not.
“I’m just kidding,” she insisted, rolling her eyes as she fastened her seatbelt. “No one would have believed me if I said that. They all think you can’t keep it in your pants for more than a day.”
“If only they knew,” he said wistfully as he threw the car into reverse and slipped out of the parking space. “What did you really tell them?”
“I boosted your reputation, don’t worry,” she assured him. “Not that I needed to. You already have a huge following.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed.” He flashed a grin, making it clear he was actually well aware. Before Taliana could tell him to reel in his stupid ego, his phone rang, and he answered it with a quick, “What?”
Taliana turned her attention out the window as the other person spoke and took in the mess that was Trinity’s parking lot on a Friday afternoon. With the sheer number of cars trying to make it out the one tiny exit, it was going to take them at least ten minutes to leave.
“I don’t have any other plans, so I’m in,” Sebastian told his caller as they inched forward. “We haven’t done anything in a while.” Taliana felt his eyes settle on her, and she turned to look at him. “You up for going out tonight, Stick Girl?”
“Depends on what you have in mind.” Even if it was something relatively tame, Taliana had a feeling a night with Sebastian and his friends could easily spiral out of control.
“Dinner at Shanti, that new Indian place on Wisconsin Avenue, and probably a party somewhere,” he said to her before turning his attention back to whoever was on the phone. “No, Michael, you remember the last party we went to there. Marcus had to get a rabies shot, and you had to buy that guy a new Speedo. And don’t think I’ve forgotten about that time with the bagpipes.”
Taliana wasn’t sure she wanted to know about that one.
“I’ll meet you at Shanti at eight and figure it out from there.” Sebastian hung up and carelessly tossed his phone back into the center console. “You heard what we’re doing. You in?”
She paused briefly to think about it. “Do I actually have a choice?”
“Let’s put it this way,” he proposed. “Marcus, Michael, Jacob, Jude, and I are going out tonight. You’re welcome to come along but don’t make it miserable for us.”
Well, it wasn’t like she had anything better to do. They were pretty much her only friends around here. “All right,” she agreed, shrugging. “Count me in.”
They finally weaved their way out of the parking lot and were on the way to Taliana’s house, battling traffic. It eased up once they reached P Street, which was nothing short of a miracle at this time of day, and he pulled up in front of Taliana’s house just a few minutes later.
“I’ll be here to get you at seven thirty,” he told Taliana as she clambered out of the car. “Wear something nice.”
