Sebastian could see Taliana was thrown by the easy question, but she answered it nonetheless.

“Purple,” she replied slowly, clearly confused. “I thought this game was supposed to be about embarrassing answers, not ones you could find out easily.”

“It is,” Michael told her as he grabbed the wine bottle. “But for the first couple rounds we keep it simple. The hard hitters come once we’re at least two bottles in.” He put the bottle to his lips and took a swig, then waited until it had been passed around to speak again. “Your turn, Stick Girl.”

She nodded briefly before asking her question. “Favorite sport?”

“Lacrosse.” Sebastian yawned.

“Lacrosse.”

“Lacrosse.”

Michael looked disgusted by his three friends’ choice in sports. “You guys suck. Swimming, hands down.”

“I should have known,” Taliana replied as she kicked her feet up onto the coffee table. “Every certified east coast prep plays lacrosse. And let me guess, you’re the captain, aren’t you, Seb?”

“Two years strong,” he replied, proud. “Not that it matters.” He downed his portion and waited for the rest to do the same before asking his question. “Most embarrassing childhood crush?”

Marcus winced before answering, “Fiona from

Shrek .”

That got another laugh from Taliana, but Sebastian was surprised when she reached over to pat Marcus’s shoulder. “If it makes you feel better, I thought the fox from

Robin Hood was pretty cute.”

Sebastian was having a hard time believing that this girl was getting along so well with his friends. He had almost expected there to have been a brawl or two by now. He wasn’t sure whether to be pleased or terrified, but for now he went with the optimistic option.

The next round ended with Jacob asking who they would call to help them bury a body, to which

Jude was the resounding answer-the guy may have been a little dramatic sometimes, but he was undoubtedly resourceful. Seconds later they were finishing off one of the bottles and starting on the next. Like the first round, they were controversy free and easily answered. However, by the eighth round, the more interesting questions had begun to surface.

“How many people have you all slept with?” Taliana inquired as she moved her feet from the coffee table to Sebastian’s lap.

She had loosened up over the past few rounds. She was practically sprawled out on the couch now, with her dress inching dangerously higher every time she moved. Sebastian had to watch where he put his hands now that the lower half of her body was stretched across his lap; one wrong move and he might get slapped for doing something accidentally inappropriate.

But he had relaxed as well, though it was definitely going to take a couple more rounds to become as laid back as Taliana. She didn’t even seem to care that his hands were now resting on her knees, fingers absentmindedly stroking her skin. And hell, he didn’t care either. A little alcohol could make a big difference.

Michael paused only briefly to do a quick mental calculation before answering. “Seven.”

Jacob didn’t have to think about anything. “Four.”

“One,” Marcus mumbled, dipping his head in what appeared to be shame.

All eyes swung to Sebastian.

“Thirteen.”

This gained a disbelieving scoff from Taliana. “I don’t believe you,” she said slowly, and he watched as her lips settled into a pout.

“Why not?” he asked as he forced himself to look away from her mouth.

She raised and lowered one shoulder and let her head flop back against the armrest. “It just seems unrealistic. I mean, you just turned eighteen, right?” She paused, and he nodded. “It’s not like you’ve had very long to make that total. And I don’t think there are that many girls who are just begging for you to take them to your bed.”

Before Sebastian could answer, Michael cut in. “You’d be surprised. Hot stuff over there is a real catch.”

There was no use denying that, so he merely shrugged. “Enough about me. How many guys have? you slept with?” he asked, flipping the question back at her.

“Three,” she replied, seeming slightly embarrassed about it like Marcus had. “You, Zak, and another guy from back in California I had a thing with after Zak and I broke up.” This fact seemed to unsettle her a bit. “You’re not going to call me a slut, are you?”

Michael laughed loudly at that idea. “A slut? Oh, sugartits, we don’t have room to judge. Except maybe Marcus over there, the goody two-shoes that he is.”

Said boy rolled his eyes as he yawned. “Yeah, whatever, are we done? It’s past midnight, and I’m tired.”

“I don’t think you’re the only one,” Michael chuckled as he glanced down at Jacob, who was passed out on the floor with one arm covering his eyes. “This kid obviously couldn’t hang with the big boys.” He nudged the sleeping boy with his toe and received a loud snore as a response.

Taliana yawned as she stood to stretch. “Where can I crash, Michael?”

“That depends,” he said, smirking. “How close do you want to be to your boyfriend?”

Sebastian didn’t miss the wary look she shot him. “As far away as physically possible,” she answered.

“In that case, maybe you should just come sleep in my room.” Michael was on his feet now, pushing up the sleeves of his hideous tracksuit. “It’s on the complete other side of the house. No one will hear what we get up to there.”

“Let me amend my request: I want to be as far away from the? both? of you as possible.”

“Aw, baby, why you gotta be so cruel?” He winked at her before crouching and attempting to wake Jacob.

“Come on,” Sebastian sighed as he got up from the couch. “I’ll show you to one of the bedrooms. I don’t want you wandering around all night trying to find it.”

Without glancing over his shoulder to see if she was following, he strode into the foyer, up the stairs, and down the hall to the west wing of the house where there were several guest rooms. He could see Taliana dragging her feet up the stairs as he opened the door, and he waited for her to make it up and into the room before entering as well.

“My room is two doors down if you need anything,” he told her, sliding his hands into his pockets. “You good for now?”

He wasn’t sure why he’d asked but figured there was no harm in being nice this one time.
