Upon realizing they were being watched, she lowered her voice and took a step closer. “Why the hell do they think I’m pregnant? And why were you encouraging them to think that?”

“Didn’t you hear what my mother said?” he asked as the valet pulled his car to a halt near where they were standing. “They all think the only reason we’re together is because I got you pregnant. And I don’t really blame them for assuming that. I mean, why else would they think I’m dating the girl I can’t stand?” He stepped off the sidewalk and moved around to the driver’s side and slipped into the car as Stick Girl did the same. “They know how much we hate each other.”

“Well then, you’re stupid for thinking we could ever fool them!” she exclaimed as she angrily put on her seatbelt. “And what’s going to happen when they find out I’m not pregnant?”

Sebastian shrugged as he put the car in drive and pulled out into the flow of traffic. “We’ve got some time before they figure out it’s not true. Everything with Blair and Zak should be settled by then.”

“You better hope it is,” she warned. “Because if not, I’m going to impale you on the white picket fence in front of my house.”

Scarily enough, he didn’t doubt her threat for a single second.

“I? hate you.”

“I know.”

“No words can describe how much I? loathe? you.”

“Yes, I realized that long ago.”

“I? despise you.”

“Uh-huh.”

“I? abhor you.”

“Wow, it seems like you’ve been reading the thesaurus. I applaud you, Talia, I really d-“

“Fuck off!”

Maybe that had been a bit harsh, but Taliana was beyond pissed that he’d told his family she was pregnant. Really, how stupid was he? Now that his family thought she was pregnant, her family was bound to find out as well. That certainly wasn’t a conversation she was looking forward to, seeing as teen pregnancy wasn’t exactly something her family smiled upon.

Violent thoughts ripped through Taliana’s mind while they drove, positively fuming as Sebastian made his way out of Georgetown and onto one of the bridges that led to Virginia. It wasn’t until they were halfway across did she think to ask where they were going.

“I told you, we’re spending the night at Michael’s,” he clarified. However, her confused look prompted him to continue. “He lives in Alexandria.”

Alexandria, Virginia was a bit of a drive from here. To think that Michael came from the suburbs to the middle of Georgetown every day-and in rush hour traffic at that-was true dedication.

“He lives out there and goes to school here?”

Sebastian shrugged and kept his eyes on the road. “He doesn’t really seem to care. Besides, whenever he doesn’t feel like going all the way back to his house, he stays at mine. One of the guest rooms is reserved just for him.”

Taliana rolled her eyes. “I’m surprised you two don’t share a bedroom.”

While she’d expected him to shoot her a nasty look and an even nastier retort, Sebastian laughed. “Think what you want, sweetheart, but just remember, you shared a bed with me last time, not him.”

An involuntary shiver ran down Taliana’s spine at his words. “Yeah, and because of that, your entire family thinks I’m pr-“

The sound of her phone ringing interrupted the thought, and she swore when she saw the name on the screen. “What do you want, Jude?” she sighed upon answering.

“You’re pregnant!” he screeched. “Why didn’t you tell me? I thought we were friends!”

Taliana rubbed her temple with her free hand. “Calm down, I’m not pregnant.”

“But everyone is saying you are!”

“Of course they are. They think that’s the reason Sebastian and I are dating. But I swear, I’m not.”

There was a short pause before he spoke again. “Are you sure?”

Taliana frowned, gripping the phone a little harder. “What do you mean, am I sure? I’m not pregnant, Jude.”

“Well, you two? did sleep together, and everyone knows what can happen when you do that.”

She swore at his stubbornness. “He used protection, okay?” Taliana looked at Sebastian for confirmation. “Right?”

He scoffed and shot her a look out of the corner of his eye. “I always do. I’m not stupid.”

“He did,” Taliana relayed to Jude, satisfied with that answer.

“What if the condom broke?” he offered.

If Jude had been standing next to her, she would have slapped him. “Oh, now you’re just reaching for straws.” However, his words got her thinking. What if that had happened? Taliana turned to Sebastian once again. “The condom didn’t break, did it?”

Sebastian hesitated briefly as he glanced in the mirror and changed lanes. “I’m pretty sure it didn’t, but I don’t know. I was drunk.”

Taliana rolled her eyes. “Yeah, no shit.” She turned her attention back to Jude. “We don’t remember.”

“Well, there’s one way of knowing… Are you late?”

For a split second she was confused, wondering what the hell she could be late for, before it occurred to her what he was asking. Taliana shook her head vehemently even though he couldn’t see her. “No, I’m not la-” She cut short once she actually thought about it, and ended her sentence with a loud, “Oh? shit.”

Sebastian’s attention was suddenly on me as he stopped at a red light. “I don’t like the sound of that ‘oh shit.'” He studied her face for a moment, and his eyes widened upon seeing her worried expression. “What’s going on, Talia?”
