“Let me see your hand!” she exclaimed, still catching her breath as she grabbed his arm.

“This is serious. You might get blisters. I’ll get some ointment.”

But then she halted, surprise flashing across her face.

His long fingers were unscathed, with no hint of burns.

Alicia looked up to find Caden watching her with a mischievous grin.

“Did I worry you?” he teased, a playful spark in his eyes.

“It was just warm water. Without a little trick, how else could I get you to come check on me?”

Alicia’s anger surged, and she gave him a light punch.

“You’re absolutely impossible, Caden!”

Just moments before, she had been genuinely terrified!

Caden drew her into another kiss, a touch of guilt softening his demeanor.

“My stomach isn’t feeling great,” he said.

“Could you make me some noodles?”

Alicia looked at him skeptically.

“Are you still trying to fool me with your tricks?”

Caden sighed, his expression sincere.

“I’m telling the truth this time. My stomach really hurts.”

“I don’t believe you,” she retorted, pushing him away as she started to walk off.

“Make them yourself!”

Caden sighed.

About Having A Daughter

Finally, Alicia returned to the kitchen to make a bowl of noodle soup for him.

It was a generous portion, and Caden ate every bit.

Seeing him look significantly better afterward, Alicia let out a sigh of relief.

Yet, she couldn’t help but feel resigned that her life seemed perpetually intertwined with Caden, without any other choice.

After finishing the meal, Caden was in the mood for affection, but Alicia, leaning against him, softly said, “My stomach’s not feeling great. Let’s not tonight.”

Her face clearly showed her discomfort, so Caden relaxed and didn’t press further.

As the night progressed, they fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

Alicia quickly fell asleep, while Caden gently released himself to attend to some pressing business matters that had accumulated throughout the day.

He frowned at some of the updates.

Shortly after, Caden made an international call.

The person on the line reported gravely, “Mr. Ward, we have confirmation. Gareth is indeed causing problems.”

Caden, leaning against the headboard, looked serious.

“For now, keep it quiet.”

The caller hesitated.

“Mr. Ward, if we delay, the damage could be immense.”

“This issue is complicated and resolving it will take time. I can’t afford any disturbances at the moment,” Caden explained.

“Isn’t the company your priority? It’s your life’s work.”

Caden stayed silent for a moment and glanced at Alicia, who was deep in sleep.

He gently stroked her cheek.

The feel of her skin stirred deep emotions within him.

“Let’s wait until December,” Caden finally said.

“I have my plans. Stay put and don’t let Gareth know we’ve discovered him.”

After they hung up, Caden’s touch gently woke Alicia.

She sleepily opened her eyes and asked, “Why are you still up?”

Caden lay back down and embraced her closely.

“I was just getting ready to.”

Ting! A message vibrated on Alicia’s phone.

Caden automatically looked at it and noticed it was from Blake.

He picked up the phone without hesitation.

With her eyes still closed, Alicia asked calmly, “Is that a work-related message?”

Caden read the message, his voice growing cold.

“Mr. Langstaff is asking if you’re still fighting with Caden?”

Alicia opened her eyes slightly and asked, “What?”

Caden asked, “You’re even talking about such private matters with him?”

Alicia responded, “Don’t talk nonsense. He was just guessing.”

Caden felt a constriction in his chest.

“Stop talking to him. If I catch you alone with him again, it won’t end well for him.”

Alicia rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck to settle into a comfortable position.

“Caden, act your age. You’re being really immature.”

The next morning, when Alicia woke up, she still felt a bit uneasy in her stomach.

Concerned it might be related to her menstrual cycle, she headed directly to the gynecology department for a checkup.

As she made her way to the appointment, Alicia unexpectedly ran into Regina, who was coming from the opposite direction.

Their items spilled all over the floor, and they both bent down to gather them.

A document caught Alicia’s eye, but before she could make out the details, Regina swiftly picked it up.

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,” Alicia said.

Regina collected her belongings, her smile warm.

“Did you get hurt?”

Alicia shook her head.

Alicia always felt an odd sense of security from Regina’s gentle demeanor and appearance, which made her instinctively want to protect her.

“I’m okay.” Alicia looked at her, her voice softening as she said, “You seem off. Is something bothering you?”

Regina met her gaze, then smiled faintly.

“No.”

She was just a little disappointed.

After discovering that Alicia’s birthday was the same as Yolanda’s, she began to suspect a mix-up at birth and decided to have a DNA test done with Yolanda.

The DNA test results confirmed they were indeed mother and daughter.

No error had been made.

So, Regina’s gut feeling was incorrect, and there was no familial tie to Alicia.

What a shame!

Noticing Alicia with a medical form, Regina asked with concern, “Are you feeling okay?”

Alicia responded, “Just dealing with irregular periods, I’m getting them checked out.”

“Alright.” Regina sighed in relief and said, “Make sure you take care of yourself.”
