Chapter 280 – When His Wife Can’t Forgive

Corey shrugged indifferently. “Alicia’s goal in helping me was to confront Yolanda. I just got lucky.”

“Really? But I don’t think Alicia is a trustworthy person.”

“She didn’t help me for free,” Corey replied, his tone firm. “Now, get back to work, and let’s not hear any more complaints about the robots.”

Meanwhile, Alicia went back to Joy Mansion while Caden went to pick up Blake.

Even though Blake had been taken away by the police earlier, he remained tied up and locked inside the car.

Exhausted and parched, Blake curled into a ball, his spirit dimmed. Caden looked at him, a mocking smile playing on his lips. Weakly, Blake looked up at him and pleaded, “Caden, please untie me.”

Caden handed Blake a bottle of water.

Blake stared at it, his Adam’s apple bobbing as thirst clawed at him.

But his hands were bound behind his back, and his body was twisted in an uncomfortable position.

Caden raised an eyebrow. “Oops, I forgot you’re tied up at the moment.”

Blake shot him a glare, panting heavily.

Bastard! What a bastard!

With a casual flick of his wrist, Caden unscrewed the cap and brought the bottle to Blake’s parched lips.

Blake rolled his eyes, his pride holding him back from drinking, but the thirst and hunger made it impossible to resist. The water felt like a sip of life-saving relief.

Reluctantly, he parted his lips.

Caden carefully poured half the bottle down his throat. Blake gasped for breath, instinctively licking the remnants of the water from his lips.

Caden glanced down at him and asked, “Do you want more?”

Feeling a surge of defiance, Blake turned his face away. “Get lost!”

Caden tossed the bottle aside and shot him a teasing glance over his shoulder, a playful smile gracing his lips.

Instead of untying Blake, he slid into the car.

“Let’s head back to Joy Mansion.”

The driver hesitated, casting a sideways glance at Blake in the backseat. “But Mr. Ward, Mr. Langstaff hasn’t…?”

Caden interrupted, his tone dismissive. “He likes it this way. Drive.”

The driver hesitated, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. Blake shouted, “What do you mean? My arms are about to dislocate. Untie me!”

Caden leaned back, his tone languid and mocking. “A grown man can’t handle a little discomfort, yet wants to play the home-wrecker?”

The driver looked back, confusion etched on his face.

Blake’s lips twitched. “Caden, you shameless jerk! How dare you call me a home-wrecker? What about you? Let’s not forget how you got Alicia in the first place!”

Caden snorted, unbothered by the jab.

He just liked his sister-in-law. Was that such a big deal?

She was the only one he wanted, and that was all that mattered.

Caden glanced at the GPS and told the driver, “Take the mountain road. I want to enjoy the scenery.”

The driver nodded and promptly followed his instructions. The mountain road was steep and winding, and despite the driver’s skill, the ride was anything but smooth.

Blake was tossed around in the backseat, thumping against the car’s interior.

“Caden, you… Damn you! Fuck… Fuck you! Ouch!”

Caden couldn’t help but smile faintly. “You’ll never have the chance, because I’m not into guys, though I know I’m charming.”

Finally, they hit a smoother stretch of road, granting Blake a moment’s relief, though his face was already bruised and battered.

Panting heavily, he cursed under his breath, “Screw you, Caden Ward!”

Meanwhile, at Joy Mansion, Ciara was scolding Benedict. She had just learned that he had argued with Alicia and nearly come to blows.

“You are lucky Caden is your nephew. Otherwise, you would have been tossed into the sea by now.”

In the side hall, Ciara lowered her voice, her frustration palpable. “Even though you’re his uncle, you shouldn’t meddle so much!”

But Benedict didn’t think he was at fault. He crossed his arms defiantly and said, “I’m just looking out for Caden.”

Exasperated with his stubbornness, Ciara raised her cane and hit him.

Benedict couldn’t take it anymore. He stormed out of the side hall, only to find Alicia in the kitchen, having just finished making some pastries.

She was carrying a tray and walking out when she collided with him.

Benedict cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Have you ever studied robotics chip research?” he asked.

Alicia raised an eyebrow. “No, it was just a hobby I looked into.”

“You are better than Yolanda, at least.”

Alicia blinked, caught off guard.

“Sir, if you have something to say, just spit it out. There’s no need to beat around the bush.”

Benedict was momentarily speechless.

He wanted to apologize after recognizing her competence, but his pride held him back. Instead, he fumbled for a more indirect approach.

Alicia wasn’t about to let him off the hook that easily.

She raised the tray and offered, “Do you want some?”

Benedict cleared his throat, reaching out tentatively. “You’ve worked hard. I’ll give you some face.”

But just as his fingers brushed the edge of the tray, Alicia pulled it back.

Benedict stared at her in confusion.

“There’s more in the kitchen. Help yourself. This is for Ciara,” Alicia explained, a sly smile playing on her lips as she turned away.

After Ciara had eaten two pieces, Aylin entered and announced, “Ms. Bennett, Mr. Caden Ward is back and wants to speak with you outside.”

Without asking why, Alicia let Ciara have more and take a rest before stepping out.

Ciara watched her leave, a smile spreading across her face. The most beautiful feeling in the world is when love reaches its peak. It was mutual and sincere.

Why fret about the future?

Meanwhile, after Caden stepped out of the car, he opened the trunk and untied Blake.

Finally free to move, Blake winced as stiffness and pain coursed through his joints from being bound for too long.

Caden unscrewed the water bottle again and asked, “Do you want some more, my dear nephew?”

Blake weakly shot back, “Get lost.”

“It’s already open,” Caden said with a sly grin, tilting the bottle and splashing water all over Blake’s pants. “Oops. My hand slipped.”

Blake was taken aback. “What’s wrong with you?”

The damp stain on his gray pants was impossible to ignore. He wanted to brush it off but lacked the strength to do so.

Alicia’s voice suddenly came from behind. “What are you doing, Caden?”

Caden turned around, the corners of his lips curling into a smile. “I brought Mr. Langstaff back.”

Blake shuddered when he heard Caden say the name Mr. Langstaff.

Alicia peered over with concern etched on her face. “Mr. Langstaff, are you okay?”

Her eyes immediately fell on the large wet patch staining his pants.

“What happened?” she asked.

Caden replied casually, “It’s his first time being kidnapped. He got so scared he wet his pants.”

Blake could only stare at him, speechless.

Attempted Suicide By Slash…

Alicia paused, her gaze flicking to Caden, confusion written all over her face. “So, how do you want me to help?”

Caden’s expression deepened. “Well, what kind of help do you think you can offer?”

Alicia asked impatiently, “Why did you call me here then?”

Caden’s face remained stoic, betraying no hint of guilt. “I called you to check on Mr. Langstaff, who had an unfortunate accident due to fear.”
