Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive
Caden chuckled, amusement dancing in his eyes. “I don’t have that habit, but if you’re eager to take charge, I won’t stop you.”
He nonchalantly tossed his shirt into the trash, then shifted his gaze away from Alicia’s piercing stare as he headed toward the bathroom. “Come in,” he called over his shoulder. When he reached the door, he added, “The one in the maid outfit.”
Alicia was left speechless.
“I’m not your maid!” she roared in her heart, anger bubbling beneath the surface.
But since Caden had made that declaration, she figured the room must be safe.
With a reluctant sigh, she followed him into the bathroom.
To her surprise, Caden was nowhere to be found.
“Caden?” she called, her voice echoing in the vast room. The silence wrapped around her, tightening her heart. Just as she turned to leave, she collided with his solid chest.
Caden’s hands gently gripped the back of her neck, compelling her to halt. He slowly leaned in and kissed her.
Alicia couldn’t remember how long it had been since they last met. Was it a week, or perhaps half a month?
No matter the time, she missed him terribly.
The familiar kiss melted them together. Caden’s tongue slid in as his strong arms wrapped around her waist, effortlessly lifting her and sitting her on the marble table. Instinctively, Alicia hooked her arms around his neck.
Their longing spilled into every kiss-lips and tongues entangled, the air thick with anticipation.
However, Caden suddenly pulled away.
Alicia’s eyes sparkled with confusion as she gazed at him. With a teasing smile, Caden’s gaze held her in place. “Who was it that just a minute ago was giving me the cold shoulder? Now look at you, turning soft with just one kiss.”
Alicia’s face flushed, reality snapping back into place. She scowled at him, the memories of what she had seen in that private room rushing back, sharp and vivid.
Incensed, she pushed him away. “Get off me!”
Caden barely budged, standing his ground. “I haven’t even showered yet. I’ll deal with you once I have.” His chest rose and fell with controlled restraint, a testament to his impatience.
Alicia turned her face away, muttering, “Well, I don’t agree. Maybe you should go back to those other women-the ones in gowns or the innocent types dripping with charm. They’re probably better suited for you than I am!”
Caden gently pinched Alicia’s cheek, his touch light but teasing. “It was all for show. Are you that jealous?”
Alicia hadn’t even noticed how deeply jealousy had settled in her chest. She retorted, “You seemed pretty committed to the act. Did it really require that much touching? Her chest must be at least a D-cup. Could you even hold it with one hand?”
Caden’s lips curled into a smirk. “Did I touch her chest?” Of course, he hadn’t taken it that far-but his hand did brush along her thigh. And he even slid his hand inside.
Alicia felt a flicker of guilt but refused to soften. “Who knows what else you did before I got there.”
Caden raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with mischief. “I did touch it, and the feel was exquisite. Much softer compared to your petite ones.”
Fuming, Alicia swatted his hand away, a clear warning against his wandering touch. “Then go ahead and touch them!”
She tried to pull away, but the move only landed her back in his arms. His grip was strong as iron. She kicked and struggled like a wildcat.
Most women wouldn’t dare challenge him, but Caden only laughed, carrying her effortlessly toward the bathtub.
He placed her hand on his belt. “Unbuckle it for me. Help me with my bath.”
Alicia glared, defiant. “I’ll throw you in instead.”
“Be my guest. Show me what you’ve got.”
His shameless challenge made her bristle, but struggling was futile. Before she could protest, he had her in the tub.
Alicia’s clothes were stripped away, leaving her to cling to Caden, seeking both warmth and security in his hold. Reclining with her in the warm water, Caden held her close.
“The man I was drinking with earlier, Marlon, holds significant sway here in Terriland. I’m working with him so that if anything ever goes south for me, he’ll have my back.”
Alicia fell silent, processing his words before finally asking, “Is it what I think it is?”
“Yes,” he replied.
Ammunition and firearms smuggling, human trafficking – every kind of illicit deal under the sun.
Alicia’s face twisted with concern. “Why would you get involved with someone like that?”
Reading her unease, he explained, “I’m only hiring him. I have no intention of diving into his business. My main reason for seeking him out is because he had dealings with Corey before. Moreover, Corey once bought something from him.”
Alicia couldn’t help but ask, “What did Corey buy?”
“I don’t plan to squeeze the truth out of him just yet. He’s tight-lipped and wary. If I push too hard, I’ll give myself away.” Caden effortlessly lifted her, settling her legs around his waist. “But this trip wasn’t without its rewards.”
At least he had uncovered Corey’s weakness.
Alicia tried to keep the conversation serious, but Caden was suddenly all over her, undeterred. It had been a while since she’d dealt with his persistence, and her cheeks flushed, though she managed a slight frown.
The water in the tub splashed wildly with their movement.
Alicia bit down on her hand, her voice muffled. “There’s a girl outside…”
Caden’s voice was low and rough. “I made sure she can’t hear us.”
Alicia’s brow furrowed, still doubtful. “Do you really prefer them that young?”
Caden’s response was a bite on her shoulder, drawing a sharp gasp from her.
“Am I truly that much of a beast?” he teased. “Marlon offered me women to test my sincerity. I requested high school girls because they’re simple and obedient – easier to win over.”
Alicia pouted, clearly unimpressed.
After two rounds in the bathtub, Caden lifted Alicia and carried her to the mirror.
Alicia scolded him for his lack of restraint, but despite her words, she couldn’t resist him, surrendering to his every whim.
“Why did you come looking for me?” Caden asked, his tone softening as satisfaction washed over him. “Did you miss me that much?”
Alicia flushed, her demeanor suddenly fragile. She shook her head stubbornly, her voice barely a whisper. “I did not.”
Caden’s heart raced, its rhythm echoing in Alicia’s chest like a distant drumbeat.
He didn’t want to admit it, but the moment he caught sight of Alicia in that private room, it felt as if his heart had been yanked down, awakening a fear he had never experienced before.
“You can’t pull surprises like this without asking me first. Terriland isn’t exactly safe for women,” Caden said, his voice firm, slightly rough, with a lingering hoarseness from their earlier intimacy.
She nodded, murmuring a soft “Got it.”
Once dressed, Caden stepped out to handle the situation with the young girl. He slipped her a small stack of cash, and following his instructions, she wrapped herself in a large towel, ruffled her hair, and gave herself a disheveled look, as if they’d just made love.
Before she left, Caden noticed her uneasy expression and called for a bodyguard to ensure she got home safely. Once that was settled, he returned and took Alicia back to his hotel suite.
During the drive, Alicia couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer. “Are you always this… cautious here?” she asked, glancing at him.
He gave a short, noncommittal grunt. “It keeps things… interesting.”
Alicia didn’t quite understand what he meant, but she would, eventually.
In the middle of the night, she woke up thirsty and disoriented. Quietly, she got up to get some water. When she opened one of the cabinets, she was startled to find rows of knives and guns neatly lined up inside.
After pouring herself a cup of water, she glanced at Caden. “Is the water safe to drink here?” she asked.
Caden’s mouth twisted into a teasing grin. “Careful. Drink too much, and you’ll get hooked.”
Startled, Alicia quickly set the glass down. “Then what should I drink? What do you usually go for?”
“Human blood,” he replied with a straight face.
Alicia’s eyes widened in shock, but Caden couldn’t keep the act up, bursting into laughter. “Relax! It’s not that dramatic. You believe everything I say.”
A bit annoyed, she punched his arm lightly before defiantly taking a gulp of water.
She leaned into him, their faces close, and they shared a kiss that reignited the spark between them.
“There’s a pack of condoms in the drawer,” Caden murmured, his eyes glinting. “Grab one and put it on.”
Blushing, Alicia reached into the drawer, fumbling for the pack, but her hand brushed against a smooth ceramic box instead.
Curious, she opened it to find a fragrant powder inside. “What’s this? Some kind of makeup?”
Caden glanced over, an amused expression on his face. “It’s a drug.”
She froze. “You’re joking, right?”
Caden said nothing, simply watching her with an unreadable expression.
Alicia’s hands trembled as she set the box down and reached for the pack again. Her hands were unsteady as she tried to get a grip. Grasping his shoulders tightly, she looked up, her whole body tense. “Caden.”
“Hm?” he responded lazily.
“You haven’t… tried it, have you?” Her voice was laced with worry. “You’ve been here a while. Have you been able to resist?”
Seeing her concerned expression, Caden suppressed a smile.
“I wondered when you’d ask.”
Alicia shuddered. “What do you mean by that?”
