Chapter 29 – When His Wife Can’t Forgive

Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive

Why did her initial reaction involve thinking about what might happen after a third encounter?

How could there even be a third time?

Alicia averted her gaze. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m leaving.”

After saying what she needed to, she gradually moved away from Caden, and they parted ways.

Later, Caden returned to the car, where Hank wore a somewhat regretful expression.

“Mr. Ward, I thought you were going to give Miss Bennett a ride home.”

And afterwards, he could take things further.

Caden grabbed his work laptop. “If you enjoy driving people home so much, I’ll get you a job as a driver.”

Because of that, Hank decided to drop the subject and asked, “But what about your illness? Are you still going to take the medication?”

Caden frowned at that.

He didn’t care much about the illness. He was willing to take the medicine only to avoid causing concern for Ciara at home.

He spoke in a deep voice, “I’ll continue taking the pills.”

Hank advised, “Medication can be harmful to your body and hasn’t been effective. You’ve been single all these years. Why not explore other options?”

Caden replied indifferently, “Romantic relationships don’t mean much to me.”

Whether he had one or not didn’t make a difference.

He was content as long as Alicia stayed out of his life.

Hank felt a wave of emotion. “You can’t remain single forever.”

Caden’s expression hardened.

He remembered what he had just said to Alicia. It wasn’t something he said in jest.

Three times was the limit. If Alicia crossed that line, he wouldn’t be able to hold back.

Alicia struggled greatly to recover the deleted video from the cloud.

Unable to watch the earlier sections, she fast-forwarded to the latter part.

In that segment, she was entirely undressed.

Caden had wanted to stop because they lacked protection, but she clung to him desperately, refusing to let go as she pushed and rubbed against him incessantly.

Caden paused for a moment, relishing her embarrassing predicament.

He eventually decided to help her, using his fingers to bring her relief.

Alicia’s face turned bright red as she watched the recording. It was all too overwhelming for her.

She couldn’t believe she had acted so shamelessly. Caden had used only his fingers, yet she orgasmed multiple times.

Alicia held her breath and turned off the video. An unusual heat coursed through her body, causing a tingling sensation in certain areas.

That sensation lingered with her for a long time. Even when she met Monica at the restaurant, she still felt somewhat dazed.

Monica placed her hands on both sides of Alicia’s face and examined her closely. “You’re looking quite rosy. It seems you’ve really moved on.”

Alicia took a slow sip of water. “If Joshua can go to such great lengths for Lilliana, then I should be able to move forward too.”

Monica laughed with a mocking tone. “That’s not necessarily a good thing for Joshua. He’s nearly depleted the family fortune to meet the demands of the Green family. How will he sustain that in the future?”

She added, “Besides, when considering the inheritance of the Yates family, can he truly compete with Caden?”

Alicia nearly choked.

She wondered why their conversations always seemed to return to Caden.

Monica handed her a napkin and advised, “Drink slowly.”

“I don’t think Caden intends to compete,” Alicia murmured.

“Who knows?” Monica replied. “In terms of intelligence and abilities, Caden always comes out on top.”

Alicia glanced down at her hands.

She remembered the tears she shed the previous night. Although her words were a blur, Caden’s face remained clear in her fragmented memories.

Never did she imagine that she would find herself weeping in Caden’s arms.

Her tears had flowed unceasingly throughout the night. They came partly from sorrow and partly from relief.

The entire situation felt completely absurd.

Alicia shook her head to clear her thoughts. She then retrieved the gift she had brought for Monica.

It was a valuable watch.

Monica was stunned. She asked, “Why did you buy something so expensive? You should be saving your money!”

Alicia placed the watch on her wrist.

“It’s beautiful,” she said, her gaze softening. “I should have given this to you a long time ago.”

During those two years of marriage, she had struggled financially and always relied on Joshua for support.

Joshua didn’t provide much, and Alicia was too embarrassed to ask for more. So she took on freelance work under the name Iris.

Throughout it all, Monica had helped her without any conditions.

Alicia reflected on the kindness she had received from Monica.

Suddenly, Monica’s eyes welled up with tears. “You didn’t even buy one for yourself, but you got me one first.”

“I’ll get one for myself later; there’s no rush,” Alicia said gently.

They continued talking and eventually discussed their future plans.

“What are your plans now?” Monica asked.

“I want to open an art gallery,” Alicia stated. “It’s a dream my mother always had, and I want to help make it come true.”

Monica nodded.

“Composing for Gerry has boosted your reputation, which will make things easier,” she said. She took out a card and handed it to Alicia. “Opening a gallery requires a lot of money. Take this.”

Alicia felt a surge of warmth but decided to decline. “I haven’t started yet. I don’t need that much,” she said.

Monica insisted, “Please take it, just in case you might need it.”

“If I need it, I’ll let you know.” Alicia gently pushed the offer back.

After some discussion, Monica chose not to insist. “I’ll talk to my dad about potential connections. He knows many people who could help.”

Alicia nodded in agreement.

The Flynn family operated in business and held significant standing within their social circle.

Alicia purchased two boxes of high-end health supplements and accompanied Monica to visit Lennon Flynn, Monica’s father.

Unexpectedly, as soon as Lennon heard their plan, a sudden change came over him.

Lennon turned to the maid. “Please stay here with Miss Bennett,” he instructed.

He then took Monica by the arm and led her into the study.

“I cannot assist with this issue,” Lennon whispered. “The trouble caused by Alicia with the Green family is too severe. You bring her into our home? Are you trying to jeopardize my business?”

Monica felt a surge of indignation. “But the fault lies with Lilliana!” she protested. “Lilliana exploited Alicia’s talent to benefit in the entertainment industry. The truth was bound to come out eventually!”

Lennon acknowledged her point but emphasized the harsh reality. “Look at the internet now. Is anyone criticizing Lilliana? Everyone is blaming Alicia.”

Monica was stunned. “Why is Alicia being blamed?”

Monica picked up the phone and saw that someone had exposed the divorce between Alicia and Joshua.

She read through numerous comments filled with negativity. People were accusing Alicia of using underhanded methods to save the marriage and framing Lilliana.

Baseless rumors began to circulate. These rumors claimed that Lilliana purchased songs because Alicia manipulated her into doing so.

Chat logs were released to the public. In these logs, Alicia portrayed herself as a pitiful and helpless housewife. She seemed to be trying to gain sympathy from Lilliana and convince her to buy songs.

Lilliana agreed to pay Alicia and promised to support her in her career.

However, Alicia refused the offer.

At first, it appeared that Alicia wanted to stay out of the public eye. In reality, she was setting up Lilliana.

With this so-called evidence, netizens became furious. They hurled harsh insults at Alicia, calling her a scheming and manipulative woman. The language used was so vile that it was unbearable to read.
