Filed to story: That Campus Prince Is a Girl
The bottle was tiny, about two fingers tall, and completely unmarked. There was no way to tell what was inside.
“What’s this?” Cameron pinched the bottle between her fingers.
“Careful, Cam,” Camilla said quickly, cupping her hands under Cameron’s, worried the bottle might slip.
Cameron tightened her hold on the bottle and asked again, “Cami, what is this?”
Once Cameron had a firm hold on the bottle, Camilla finally relaxed. Camilla grinned and said, “Cam, let me ask you something first.”
Cameron nodded.
“How many kids are you and Brad planning to have?” Camilla asked.
Cameron was caught off guard by that question. She shook her head. “Honestly, I haven’t really thought about it.”
Camilla said, “Well, think about it now.”
Cameron thought for a few seconds. “I’m not really into kids, but I don’t dislike them either. I’ve heard raising a kid is a huge hassle, so I think just having one would be enough.”
“One,” Camilla nodded. “So, do you want a boy or a girl?”
Cameron replied, “It’s not like I can just pick. That’s up to fate.”
Camilla raised an eyebrow. “Whatever you want, I can make it happen.”
“IVF?” Cameron shook her head. “That’s not necessary.”
Carnilla smiled and nodded at the bottle in Cameron’s hand. “No need for IVF, Cam. Just drink what’s in that bottle, and you’ll get exactly what you want-boy or girl.
“And if you want more than one kid, you can even pick how many-triplets, quadruplets, sextuplets, septuplets, whatever you like!”
Camilla had already called dibs on twins for herself. Evan had claimed the quintuplets. As for octuplets, those were saved for Jade’s little brother.
Cameron stared at Camilla in surprise. She turned the bottle over in her palm. “Did you invent this?”
‘That’s amazing,’ Cameron thought.
Camilla shook her head. “A friend gave it to me.”.
Cameron was silent for a long moment. She believed what Camilla was saying.
After all, Cameron had time-traveled once and then spent over a thousand years world-hopping. If that could happen, then nothing seemed too far-fetched.
But in the real world, this felt like something out of a fantasy. It was just too strange.
‘Wait a second?’ Cameron thought. Suddenly, something occurred to her, and she asked Camilla, “I heard you cured the world’s first case of ALS. How did you pull that off?”
Camilla replied, “Cam, why are you asking about that all of a sudden?”
‘Shouldn’t she be more curious about the medicine in her hand?’ Camilla wondered.
Cameron asked cautiously, “Cami, you’re not from this world, are you?”
Camilla stared at Cameron in shock. She wasn’t just stunned by why Cameron would ask her something like that-what really floured her w the meaning behind Cameron’s words.
“Cam, what do you mean?” Camilla asked, quickly regaining her composure, her face looking almost normal again
Cameron said, “Just what it sounds like.”
Camilla chuckled, “Cam, if I’m not from this world, then where am I supposed to be from?”
Cameron replied, “Probably just like what happens in those webnovels.”
Camilla couldn’t help but let out a laugh. Actually, the Saunders family already knew that Camilla had time-traveled.
And now, Cameron was pretty much considered part of the Saunders family, too. So there was no harm in telling her.
Camilla trusted that Cameron wouldn’t go around blabbing about it.
Besides, if Cameron knew about this, the potion she gave her would seem even more convincing.
“Cam, you got it. Just like in those webnovels, I’ve actually time-traveled once before. Pretty wild, huh?” Camilla said, giving Cameron a thumbs-up.
“But Cam, what made you suddenly think of that?” Camilla asked.
Hearing this, Cameron’s face broke into a bright smile.
‘I knew it,’ Cameron thought to herself. ‘I always sensed there was something different about her. So Camilla really is just like me. But I never expected her to be so honest about it.’-
Cameron said with a smile, “Cami, first off, you pushed the boundaries of modern medicine. You actually cured ALS. And then there’s this potion of yours, it’s just way too extraordinary.”
“Didn’t you come up with a miracle cure for leukemia?” Camilla shot back.
Cameron replied, “Because I had some outside help too.”
Cameron had already developed a cure for leukemia back in the world-hopping universe. But the herbs in this world were just way too polluted.
She spent years buying a piece of land, growing all the herbs she needed herself, and finally making the medicine before she could actually release it.
“Outside help?” Camilla looked at her in surprise, “Don’t tell me you’re also-“
Cameron nodded. “I’m just like you.”
“Really?” Camilla’s pupils contracted in surprise.
She’d already been shocked when Evan had returned by possessing another body.
But she never expected that Cameron, just like her, was also someone who had time-traveled.
‘What a coincidence,’ Camilla thought to herself.
Cameron nodded. “Yeah, it’s true.”
Camilla grabbed Cameron’s arm. “Come on, Cam. How did you time-travel?”
The two of them were chatting away, completely at ease with each other.
Now that they shared the same kind of experience, they just couldn’t run out of things to talk about.
It wasn’t until Bradley walked over that their conversation came to an abrupt stop.
“Brad, hang on a sec. Let me chat with Cam a bit longer,” Camilla said, playfully trying to shoo him away.
Bradley said helplessly, “Cami, you two have been talking for almost an hour. Don’t forget. Today is Cam and my engagement day. All her time belongs to me.”
Camilla just stared, speechless for a moment. She relented, stepping back. “Alright, fine. Since we’re not heading back to Steerfall today, FIT just catch up with Cam tomorrow.”
And with that, Camilla started to walk away.
But Cameron called out to her, “Cami, pass this on to someone who really needs it.”
“You’re not going to use it?” Camilla hesitated, not taking the bottle.
Cameron shook her head and pressed the bottle into Camilla’s hand. “When it comes to having kids, I think it’s better to just let things happen naturally.”
She thought, ‘Messing with it just takes away the meaning.”
Camilla looked a little regretful. But she didn’t press the issue.
Camilla gave the bottle in her hand a little shake. “Cam, you can always change your mind if you want.”
Cameron shook her head softly. Camilla turned and walked away.
Bradley slipped his arm around Cameron and grinned, “Did you two really spend all that time just talking about this?”
Cameron replied, “It’s girl talk. Don’t go poking your nose into it.”
Bradley looked at her dotingly. “Alright.”
The two families set the date for Cameron and Bradley’s wedding-six months later, on a good day.
Bradley smiled at Cameron. “Cam, what kind of wedding do you want?”
Cameron replied, “I don’t have any special requests. Just keep it simple.”
She wasn’t one to waste energy on formalities. For example, even with today’s engagement party, she kept insisting on keeping things simple.
“Simple?” Bradley let the word linger on his tongue, then nodded. “Alright, simple it is.”
