Lila clapped her hands. “Elijah, you like my idol? Nice taste.”

“Yeah, nice taste,” Calder echoed.

Tyler grinned, “Hey, Elijah, does she even know you like her?”

Elijah slowly turned to look at Cameron, while Cameron was at a complete loss for words.

When Elijah said her name, she froze on the spot, totally stunned. ‘Wait, Elijah likes me?’ Cameron thought, her mind going blank.

The way they interacted had always been perfectly normal, never even close to crossing any lines.

‘Why would he like me?’ Cameron thought in disbelief.

While Cameron was still stunned, Elijah turned to look at her. For a moment, their eyes locked.

Cameron was completely stunned into silence.

Elijah looked at her and said, “Cameron, I like you. But I never wanted my feelings to pressure you, so I kept it to myself until now. Sorry.”

Cameron remained silent.

Elijah was nothing like the impulsive Xander or the pushy Austin. Even though Cameron had just heard Elijah confess, she didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.

After thinking for a moment, she said, “Elijah, thank you for liking me.”

After hearing that, a small smile slowly spread across Elijah’s lips.

He’d witnessed firsthand how Cameron had turned Austin down-and the whole thing had been pretty rough. So, he didn’t plan any kind of grand confession.

Instead, he just took the chance during the game to let her know how he felt.

He simply told her that he liked her. Whether she wanted to respond or not-that was entirely up to her.

When Cameron thanked him, Elijah’s smile grew a little wider. ‘Thank goodness I didn’t mess this up, he thought. He hadn’t ended up ruining their a friendship like Austin did.

Tyler cleared his throat. “So, are we going to keep playing?”

“Yes,” Elijah said.

And just like that, the game went on.

Elijah had just confessed his feelings, and now they were right back to playing like nothing had happened.

It left Cameron feeling a little dazed. ‘Was all of that just a dream?’ she thought. Still, she knew for sure it was real.

She honestly had no idea how she was supposed to respond to Elijah now. She just wasn’t in the mood for a relationship right now.

So if Elijah was okay with just being friends, then friends they would stay.

After another round of the game, it was already 10 PM..

Everyone pitched in to clear the table, then made sure to leave Cameron and Elijah some space to themselves.

Elijah looked at Cameron, his gaze open and honest. “I didn’t scare you, did I?”

Cameron shook her head. “I was just really caught off guard. I honestly thought you liked Amelia.”

Elijah looked genuinely puzzled. “Why would you think that? Did I give you the wrong idea or something?”

Cameron said, “You once said there was no way you could be with the person you liked.”

Elijah said helplessly, “I didn’t know you were a girl back then.”

Cameron was stunned for a moment before she suddenly understood. No wonder Elijah looked so miserable back then.

Imagine a totally straight guy thinking he’s fallen for another dude-no wonder he was so miserable.

Cameron asked, “Elijah, I remember when I first joined Class 316, you really didn’t like me at all.”

Elijah said sincerely, “I’m sorry. I misjudged you because of my bias,”

Back then, Cameron was basically simping for Amelia, and everyone in school knew about it. Plus, Cameron had the lowest grades in the whole class.

Elijah had already formed his opinion about her.

Cameron waved her hand. “No, I mean, what is it that you even like about me?”

Elijah was taken aback. ‘She’s actually talking to me about this so sincerely?’ he thought. ‘Guess I really have been too narrow-minded.”

He’d actually been worried that if he confessed, Cameron would just start ignoring him.

Elijah said, “Honestly, I can’t really put it into words. For some reason, you just pop into my head, and whenever I don’t see you, I can’t help but wonder what you’re doing.”

Sometimes, feelings just snuck up on one suddenly.

Cameron nodded.

Elijah looked at her.

Cameron looked back at him.

Their eyes met. Neither of them said a word.

After a long pause, Cameron finally said, “Elijah, to be honest, I’m not really thinking about getting into a relationship right now.”

Elijah nodded. “I can wait for you.”

Cameron was stunned slightly before continuing, “Elijah, you don’t need to spend your time on me.”

There were so many amazing girls at med school, and Elijah could have his pick.

Elijah said, “I’m more than willing.”

Cameron really didn’t know what to say.

Elijah gazed up at the starry sky. “Cameron, don’t feel any pressure because of me. Me liking you is my own thing. Let’s just keep things the way they are, like friends.

“But if you ever decide you want to date someone, I hope you’ll put me first.”

Cameron stared at him quietly.

Elijah really didn’t make her feel pressured at all. After he finished speaking, he got up and left, giving her space,

Amelia, Sienna, and Lila had been watching from not too far away, and as soon as they saw what happened, they hurried over way

Lila excitedly hooked her arm through Cameron’s. “Cameron, did you say yes? Elijah is seriously so handsome. He’s always so cold and distant, but the he looks at you is so gentle.

“I can’t believe a guy who is stoic could be so soft when it comes to the girl he likes.”

Lila looked at her with pure envy. Because Cameron was the one exception for Elijah. Everyone would want to be someone’s exception.

Amelia chimed in, “There were always tons of girls at school who liked Elijah. Did you say yes?”

Sienna added, “You must have said yes.”

After all, in their opinion, no one would turn down a guy as amazing as Elijah.

Amelia mentioned Elijah’s family was super loaded.

Cameron shook her head. “No.”

“No way?” all three of them blurted out at once.

Lila stared at Cameron in disbelief. “Cameron, are you for real? Your standards are that high? You seriously don’t like Elijah? He’s drop-dead gorgeous. And he’s a straight-A student.”

Sienna let out a sigh. “Such a shame.”

Amelia stared at Cameron, her expression dead serious. “I get it now. You really do like Bradley. You turned down Austin for him, and now you’re turning down Elijah, too.”

Luckily, Xander hadn’t been fawning over Cameron in front of Amelia and the others, or he’d probably be getting roasted right now too.

Cameron was totally shocked.

Cameron looked at Amelia, confused. “Why are you so sure I like Bradley?”

Amelia lifted her chin. “Woman’s intuition.”

Cameron couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
