I opened the door of my cubicle and came out… I didn’t want to listen to them further… I actually had no idea what I should feel about the things they discussed. Should I be happy because the person they are even afraid to dream about loves me with his life… Or should I be frightened because he is that powerful and I am nothing compared to him… They say Marina and Jake are a perfect couple…What they will say if they knew it is me Jake loves not Marina Watson… They wouldn’t even believe that, right?
However, none of these seemed to affect Jake’s usual behavior other than he openly stays with Luke… He came for the lectures as usual and sat in the front row. He kept on asking questions from lectures and paying his fullest attention to the lectures. He went for the practices and he was just the usual team captain…
That evening, when he called me, I told him about what others tell about him…
He laughed for a few seconds…
“So what you think?” he asked.
“What you mean by what I think?”I asked.
“I mean, what you think of what others think about me…” he asked.
“To be honest, I have no idea, Jake… I don’t know whether I should be happy or scared…” I replied nervously.
“There is nothing for you too scared of, Princess… People can say different things about me because they don’t know me… But you know me inside out… You know I don’t give a sh** about power or money… You worth it for me than everything else… They can say I and Marina make a perfect couple… They just consider about material things… If they knew how strong our love is they will never even think of saying I match perfectly to Marina… ” he said, comforting me… However, things went on smoothly like this without much trouble…
Do you know what is the best thing happened after I shared everything with Shane? Jake and Luke came to our house to meet Shane on some days… So I got the chance to meet Jake alone in my room when my parents were not around… God! How much I have dreamt of talking with him, sitting on my bed… Well, that dream became a reality…
Believe me, we didn’t do anything extreme other than sharing a small kiss… He didn’t even stay long with me, but that short time was so magical…
Within a few days, the inter-university tournament started. As predicted, our team was performing exceptionally. They were the most popular team among everyone…
I went to watch each and every match they played…
However, winning the semi-finals they got qualified for the finals…
We all were focussing totally on finals, so we didn’t even notice that other people, including Mr. Patterson, were also executing their evil plans against us at the same time…
After working in the caf?, I went to the university ground to see our football team practicing. Tomorrow is the big day- the finals. All the efforts they have put so far, all the commitments they have done so far are going to be paid off tomorrow… Our players are in a very good state both physically and mentally. Most of them are in their best form, so we have a pretty good chance of winning. Today they show extraordinarily enthusiastic and united… No doubt that they want to do their best tomorrow and make us all proud…
After the practices, they were going to have a team meeting along with their coach. Therefore, without waiting for Luke or Shane, I decided to go home.
I got down from the bus and walked up to our front gate lazily. I was tired after working all day. We got a lot of customers today…
However, as soon as I saw the car that was parked in front of our house, all my tiredness just got disappeared.

I ran to the house as quickly as I could…
The front door was opened, and both mom and dad were sitting in the living room with him!
They were talking and having tea as well…
“Mr. Patterson!!!” I couldn’t control myself from screaming.
“Oh, Sarah… You came?” Mr. Patterson asked, smiling.
Of course, I came. This is my fu**ing house. What the hell are you doing here? I wanted to ask, but I kept silent because mom and dad were there…
“Where were you until this late? Mr. Patterson came to visit us, but none of you are at home.” Mom asked,
“I was working at the caf?,” I said in a low voice.
“I went to the caf? before coming here. Didn’t see you there…” Mr. Patterson said innocently, looking at me with a cunning look.
God! What is wrong with this rascal!
“After working, I went to see our team practicing. “I said quickly.
“Mr. Patterson, why are you here?” I then asked angrily. I was so angry with him, and if I could I will chase him out of my house. He is always invading other people’s private lives… Who gave him such authority?
“Sarah… Where are your manners? Is that the way you talk to your teacher? Also, he is our guest too…” mom scolded me.
“Please forgive us, Mr. Patterson… This girl doesn’t even know how to behave. She is so different from my Shane… She is so corrupted…” mom apologized to him.
My mom doesn’t think twice to humiliate me in front of anyone. But this is too much, she shouldn’t have to talk about me like that in front of this man.
“There is nothing to apologize, Mrs. Anderson. That’s totally okay,” he said to mom.
“I went to meet one of my friends who lives nearby. Unfortunately, he was not at home. I was going back home passing your home, and I just remembered that one day Shane invited me to your house. So, I thought of paying a visit. I completely forgot that he is at practices today.” Mr. Patterson said casually.
Shane invited him to our house? No way, that could happen… Shane hates him. But the way he talked actually so convincing. There is no doubt my parents totally believed him.
“It is okay, even if he is not at home, Mr. Patterson. It is actually an honor, you came to our poor house, Mr. Patterson…” mom said.
“Oh! Don’t say like that, Mrs. Anderson. Sarah and Shane are two of the best students I have. I always wanted to meet their parents because you know a good student not just there. It is their parents’ guidance and commitment that made them the best students.” He said.
God! He knows exactly how to flatter people. He is so damn cunning. It is like he has done some kind of a spell on my parents…
“Sarah… Did you know, Mr. Patterson is Victor McMiller’s only sister’s son?” dad asked.
He has even said that with my parents. He hates both Jake and his dad, right? But he is using their names to get recognition. I can’t understand this man at all. I hate him so much…
“I knew that, dad…” I replied as dad was staring at me until I reply.
“Isn’t it wonderful? Victor McMiller’s son is in your batch and he is playing football along with my Shane… Also, Victor McMiller’s only nephew is your lecturer… It is such an honor…” mom said cheerfully.
Mr. Patterson smiled charmingly…
“Mr. Patterson, would it really be possible for you to discuss with team RB’s manager about our Shane?” dad asked.
“Of course, Mr. Anderson… It is an easy thing for me. RB’s manager is one of my good friends… On the other hand, Shane is very talented. So, I don’t have to think twice before recommending him to someone… He will be able to find sponsorship for Shane as well…” he replied.
“Oh! That is great, Mr. Patterson… Football is like Shane’s life… We want to let him go as further as he can… If he can get sponsorship as well, then it will be a great support for us too… I don’t even know how to thank you…” dad said in a grateful tone. “No need to thank me, Mr. Anderson… A talented kid like Shane deserves it…” Mr. Patterson replied with a cunning smile…
What the fu**? Shane doesn’t need anyone’s help to get into a popular team. He is so talented. He is the most highlighted goalkeeper in this season as well… Some of the big teams are already having their eyes on him. It won’t be a hard task for him to find sponsorship as well… But this man is just tricking my parents…
