Chapter 695 – Healing My Disabled Husband Novel by Tracy Swift

Patrick had already begun to prove his abilities.

Aimee was speechless and choked up. She now realized that she had brought trouble upon herself by being so outspoken. If she traced back to the root of the problem, she truly regretted bringing up the topic of having more children.

After three days of “partying” at La Grande Maison, Aimee felt like her arms were not arms and her legs were not legs.

She really wanted to return to the hospital directly after her leave, but if she went on the operating now, it won’t be about curing and saving people anymore.

Therefore, Aimee decisively chose to rest at home for two more days.

Patrick wanted to continue having children with Aimee, but she refused.

Fortunately, the two of them didn’t waste their time these three days. Aimee tested it and got a result directly.

She was pregnant.

When Aimee showed the pregnancy test to Patrick, she was feeling a bit speechless.

Sure enough, Patrick said directly, “I’ve been saying all along that I’m very skilled.”

Aimee couldn’t help but feel dumbfounded. It was really not necessary to be so proud.

However, it was also a fact that Patrick was proud, and rightfully so.

From the moment Rosemary found out that Aimee was pregnant, she would occasionally come over and touch Aimee’s belly, introducing herself as “Hi little sister, I’m your big sister.”

Casey watched Rosemary’s behavior every day and became worried. “Aimee, if it’s a boy, won’t Rosemary cry?”

Aimee didn’t want to say anything. If it was a boy, Patrick might be the one crying instead of Rosemary.

So secretly in her heart she prayed for a girl.

Ridge remained calm after finding out about Aimee’s pregnancy. He wasn’t like Rosemary who constantly hovered around Aimee.

But it was clear that Ridge had his own thoughts.

Finally after another greeting from “little sister” by Rosemary, Ridge walked over and placed his hand on top of Aimee’s belly very devoutly saying, “If you’re a little sister, please don’t be like Rosemary.”

Aimee laughed directly at him. She picked up Ridge and asked softly, “Don’t you like Rosemary?”

Ridge shook his head.

Aimee then asked, “Then why don’t you want this ‘little sister’ to be like her?”

With an old-fashioned sigh, Ridge said, “She’s too noisy; one is enough noise.”

If there were another one, he really couldn’t handle it anymore.

Aimee almost laughed until she couldn’t breathe. She raised her hand to pinch Ridge’s small face asking him, “Then if this baby is really your little sister, will you be disappointed? After all, you love having a younger brother.”

Ridge wrinkled his small brow saying, “I don’t want everyone to be disappointed either.”

If it were a younger brother, maybe only he would feel happy about it.

Suddenly Aimee’s heart felt pricked with pain; they were so unfair to Ridge! She wanted Patrick to make Rosemary happy while she wanted Patrick to feel happy, but even though they didn’t say anything out loud, their expectations for the baby being female was palpable.

However, just because they didn’t say anything, it didn’t mean that Ridge couldn’t feel what they wanted deep down inside.

On the contrary, he felt everything very deeply.

Suddenly Aimee felt very sorry for him; they hadn’t taken into account how he might feel about everything going on around them.

“I’m sorry, Ridge. We haven’t been taking care of your feelings,” said Aimee.

Ridge looked up at Aimee and said, “I might lean towards a younger brother, but if it’s a younger sister, I would still like her. If she’s well-behaved like Perla, I would like her even more. But if she turns out to be like Rosemary, I would still love her.”

Aimee hugged Ridge tightly and felt overwhelmed with gratitude. “Thank you so much, Ridge. You’re amazing and I’m so grateful,” Aimee said.

Ridge’s hand landed on Aimee’s belly as he repeated himself, “No matter what you look like or who you are, I’ll always love you. But please don’t turn out to be like Rosemary.”

Rosemary overheard Ridge say this as she walked back inside from outside.

She ran over to him and had her hands on her hips while staring at him incredulously, “Ridge! Are you rejecting me?”

“Yes,” Ridge answered without hesitation.

Rosemary widened her eyes in disbelief as everyone else loved her except for Ridge.

“This isn’t fair!” Rosemary huffed indignantly. “I’m going to tell Mia not to play with you anymore.”

Rosemary knew exactly where Ridge’s weakness lay. He liked Mia the most and only wanted to play with her. However, Mia actually preferred playing with Rosemary, so the three of them had a strange triangle relation going on.

Ben was often left speechless by this situation. He couldn’t understand how Ridge could be so attached to his daughter. In Ben’s eyes, Ridge was like a thief who might come and steal his daughter from the Lee family at any moment, so he had to be on guard.

Luckily, most of the time Ridge behaved just as coolly as he appeared and never acted aggressively towards anyone. When he saw Mia, he would be very happy but when they were apart, he remained normal without ever crying or making a fuss about it.

So Ben really didn’t know what to do with Ridge except for keeping an eye on him whenever they were together because in all other aspects of life, Ridge seemed perfectly fine except for his fixation on his daughter.

Of course Tilly was thrilled about this situation since she had always been liking Ridge from the start. Now that she saw how much he liked their daughter too, she suggested that Patrick should arrange for their children to get engaged early on, but Ben refused outrightly saying that it was too soon for such decisions regarding their daughter’ future life.

Tilly understood that Ben loved their daughter so much, which made him reluctant about such things but she couldn’t help being excited at the prospect of becoming a mother-in-law someday soon.

Whenever Ben mentioned something about Ridge’s personality being too dull or boring, Tilly would remind him that compared to himself, there wasn’t much difference between them anyway since even in their initial meetings Ben hadn’t been particularly gentle or charming towards her either!

Ben thought back and realized Tilly was right. At first meeting indeed, he hadn’t given her any special treatment since they weren’t romantically involved yet.

Ridge’s aloofness seemed natural and unchanging over time which made Tilly find it endearing especially when around Mia.

“What else can I say? My wife is practically ready to pack up our daughter and send her straight to the Hayden family,” Tilly looked at Ben, who was having another “heart attack”. She still cared for her husband and said, “Okay, okay. I understand. I won’t say anything anymore, alright? They’re still young anyway. I won’t arrange a marriage for them, okay?”

Ben felt a little better after that but he could already imagine what would happen next.

No one understood the Hayden family like he did.

Even though they had different personalities, deep down they all held onto what they valued and wouldn’t let go of it easily.

Ridge had already set his sights on Mia. It was clear that if he didn’t have any other distractions coming up in his life, then it was inevitable that something would develop between Ridge and Mia.

As time passed day by day, the children grew up and new ones came into this world one after another.

This time, Aimee wasn’t pregnant with twins, just one child. Eden had once again started a betting pool to guess whether it would be a boy or girl.

It was well known that Patrick wanted a daughter.

So now, the whole family of four was eagerly anticipating that it would be a girl. Of course, this was also because Ridge had finally given up on his own hopes and joined in on hoping for a sister who wasn’t like Rosemary.

As everyone placed their bets – whether intentionally or coincidentally – besides Patrick’s family, everyone else guessed it would be a boy.

Patrick was almost driven to fainting by these people. They were just too much!

Aimee herself felt speechless about them. They really weren’t afraid of Patrick getting revenge later on!

As time went by and Aimee’s due date approached, they still insisted on keeping the answer until the last moment. So even though everyone took turns urging her to go check early and find out the gender beforehand, Aimee didn’t agree. She wanted to keep the suspense until the end.

Finally one afternoon during the first week of October, Aimee suddenly began experiencing contractions. She knew she was going into labor even though she still had half a month left before her due date arrived.

They hurriedly rushed her off to hospital without checking first and she was pushed straight into delivery room before anyone could do anything else about it.

Patrick stood outside of delivery room feeling so nervous he could hardly breathe anymore, while Rosemary held onto his hand asking repeatedly, “Daddy, is it going to be little sister?”

Patrick really didn’t know how he should answer; his whole body tensed up completely not knowing what he should say in response at all…

It should be little sister right? It must definitely be little sister…

He kept repeating these words over and over again in his mind but deep down inside he felt uneasy as if something were blocking him from thinking clearly- making him wonder if maybe he’d been wanting too much for there actually being no baby girl at all…

Unlike with her first child’s birth which went smoothly enough- this time around, things weren’t quite as easy for Aimee during labor which lasted nearly two hours before there were any signs of progress happening inside delivery room…

Patrick had been anxiously waiting outside for almost two hours. At first, he was thinking about the baby being a girl, but later on, all he could focus on was Aimee. Why was it taking so long? Was something wrong with Aimee? Should he go in and check on her?

All these thoughts kept bombarding Patrick’s mind, making him feel more and more uneasy. Just as he was about to rush into the delivery room, finally a nurse came out.

“Congratulations sir, mother and daughter are both healthy,” she said.

For a moment Patrick felt deafened; he wasn’t even sure if he heard correctly.

“Mother and daughter are both healthy.”

“Mother and daughter are both healthy.”

“Mother and daughter are both healthy.”

These words kept ringing in Patrick’s ears but they just couldn’t penetrate his mind. He could hear some other sounds too – Rosemary’s excited screams or Eden complaining that they were really missing out – but at this moment all Patrick wanted to know was how Aimee was doing.

When Aimee was pushed out of the delivery room, her face was unusually weak. This delivery had really drained her of all her strength. A good body didn’t necessarily mean a smooth delivery, something that Aimee had only just come to realize.

But she never expected that after such an easy first birth, the second would be so difficult.

Aimee looked at Patrick who was already leaning over her and said, “I’m safe and sound.”

Patrick’s tears fell directly down his face as he kissed Aimee’s lips without caring about anyone else around them. He kissed her fiercely as if this could give him a real sense of security that Aimee was truly safe.

Patrick said, “We’re not having any more children.”

Aimee smiled and said, “But I still want another boy.”

She always felt guilty towards Ridge because he had been so determined to have a brother, but everyone sided with Rosemary which forced Ridge to accept their wish for a sister instead.

Now that their wish for a sister had been fulfilled, Aimee didn’t want to show favoritism and wanted to fulfill Ridge’s wish too.

Patrick couldn’t promise anything; he really didn’t want Aimee to have any more children. Fortunately, the doctor suggested they go back home and rest first before discussing it again later on.

The baby girl’s name had already been decided early on because everyone hoped for a sister. Her name was Nathalie Read with the surname from Aimee. Of course if it were going to be a brother, then his name would be Owen Read instead.

Now Nathalie was born into anticipation and everything seemed like it will develop in the most perfect direction possible.
