Patrick chuckled and said, “No need, just standing here with you is enough.” Aimee snorted in response, thinking he was quite sensible. Otherwise, her knife in hand would have really changed direction.
“Okay then,” Aimee said. “Stop bothering me and let me focus on preparing. I promise you that whether we go to La Grande Maison or not, I’ll do it for you.”
Patrick’s lips curved and he had a doting smile as he said, “Babe, you’re so good to me.”
Aimee was a little grossed out by Patrick’s cheesiness but she also felt pretty good about it. Their relationship had always been one where they both wanted to pamper each other. They would usually fulfill each other’s requests and wishes without hesitation.
So even though she knew Patrick had some bad intentions in mind, Aimee willingly cooperated with him. As long as he was happy, she would be too.
Aimee had always been very precise when it came to cooking. She told everyone that dinner would be served at 6 pm, and sure enough, it was served promptly at 6 pm. However, even though the time had been communicated well in advance, there were still a table full of hungry people waiting for dinner.
Everyone had been looking forward to this meal since last night and had barely eaten anything all day just so they could enjoy Aimee’s cooking. Aimee couldn’t quite understand their thinking but was happy to see everyone so enthusiastic about her food.
As the chef, Aimee cared most about the diners’ mood. It was easy to tell if they genuinely enjoyed the food or were just pretending. So she felt a great sense of accomplishment when everyone raised their glasses and thanked her for preparing such a delicious meal.
Beata was especially happy because as long as they were still on board the cruise ship, it was still her birthday celebration. She boldly declared that she was the luckiest person in attendance because no one else got an entire birthday meal prepared by Aimee herself! And best of all, Aimee even made Beata’s favorite dish – red wine braised beef stew!
Eden couldn’t stop praising Aimee after trying her dish and started calling her “family.” But after three rounds of drinks, everyone began discussing restaurant ideas again.
Aimee decided that creating a concept menu wasn’t really her thing since it required research and interest in that area which she didn’t have much passion for. If forced to create one though, she wouldn’t mind doing so but would rather spend more time performing surgeries than researching menus.
The group agreed with Aimee’s decision not to pursue a concept menu further but needed to determine who their target audience should be before moving forward with any other plans for their restaurant venture.
Their restaurant was not the type for simple meals, and from the pricing, it was clear that it wasn’t cheap.
Ben spoke up, “The location is actually quite difficult to work with. If we want to open a high-end restaurant there, we’ll have to spend a lot of time on the road. The surrounding environment also doesn’t really lend itself to being very upscale.”
Walter replied, “Actually, you don’t need to worry about that issue. Right now it’s all old houses over there and the residents are mostly older people. But in the next ten years, they will definitely demolish everything and re-plan the area. We’re just getting ahead of things.”
Eden added in, “Actually rumors about demolition have been going around for two or three years now, but prices are just too high so no one has made any moves yet.”
Ben looked at Eden and asked him directly, “So what you’re saying is that you want in?”
Eden responded confidently, “We’re just waiting for someone else to come along with an opportunity like this one – whoever gets their hands on this land will reap huge benefits down the line.”
Miles chimed in skeptically, “That’s all well and good but who’s going to take on such a big risk?”
This kind of thing was actually very complicated – if everything went smoothly, then everyone would be happy and relationships between them and the authorities would be good all around. But if anything went wrong, then danger could be lurking around every corner.
That was why even after such a long time had passed, there had been no progress made whatsoever.
River said, “No matter who goes to take it, this is a case that one who is in the forefront will be attacked first. Besides, your current idea is that we all do it together. This directly tells others that we are sticking together. Do you understand what this means?”
The saying goes that the people do not fight with officials. Everyone in this position knew what was going on.
Eden said, “That’s what I thought before too. So everyone didn’t move. But now think about it, so what? If we don’t say anything, how will others know we’re sticking together? It’s just a matter of how well we stick together and if it works out well, then everyone will be happy, but if not, then there will be problems.”
Everyone fell silent; they all knew what was going on.
Previously only River seemed to stand opposite them but now he sided with them as well.
This situation had long made people wary.
There were many who wanted to break them up and cause chaos among their ranks.
However, no one had taken action yet because they were afraid.
Of course part of the reason was also because they hadn’t done anything big together for so many years.
But now since they were planning something big, there would be more complicated issues involved especially since April’s father was involved as well.
Everyone couldn’t help but think about Walter’s words. After being silent for a moment, he suddenly sneered and said, “We’ve already chosen our faction, haven’t we? I’m Hill family’s son-in-law and right now Hill family is in power. Even if we tell someone else outside that we’re not part of Hill family’s faction, who would believe us?”
Although his words were straightforward, everyone understood exactly what he meant.
So there wasn’t any need to worry too much about everything else.
In the end, everything had already been decided beforehand, so nothing would change just because they started worrying about things.
Besides, who among them really cared enough to worry?
“So why are you still talking? Let’s just do it,” Ben said.
It wouldn’t be easy for one force to swallow such a large cake, but since there were many people involved, even if someone complained or accused them of bullying others, it wouldn’t matter -they could simply bully whoever got in their way without any consequences whatsoever.
And with that decision made, things became more complicated than simply opening up a restaurant alone.
Of course, once decisions had been made, clear division of labor must follow suit.
Ivy joined Aimee in working on the restaurant project, while Patrick and his team focused on devouring this huge cake. The planning for such a large piece of land was also very straightforward. Since the restaurant was going to be located here and aimed at high-end customers, all planning would follow suit.
Of course, how to implement these plans specifically was another matter altogether.
Beata also felt firsthand what it was like when these people came together to get things done. She really thought her world was too simple. Besides writing novels, she didn’t have any other big dreams.
However, compared to watching these brothers and sisters finalize such important matters through conversation alone, Beata truly believed that the characters she had written in her previous novels were not perfect enough – not in a literal sense of perfection but rather lacking depth.
She should observe these people carefully so that the images she wrote will be outstanding.
The cruise ship had been floating on the sea for three days before they finally landed on the fourth day. Although they had already made plans while on the cruise, they decided to continue their vacation for a few more days after getting off the ship.
Especially Patrick, who had already made up his mind to hang out with Aimee at La Grande Maison until her vacation ended. As soon as he got off the ship, Patrick took Ridge and Rosemary to Casey’s place to let her take care of them.
Casey was speechless. Was he really her own brother? But she was used to it by now and didn’t protest. It was Rosemary who stared at Patrick for a long time before finally pulling him down by his hand and whispering in his ear, “Daddy, you have to remember that I want a little sister.”
Patrick pinched his daughter’s cheek gently and said, “Okay I will try my best but if it doesn’t work out, don’t be upset.” Rosemary nodded and hugged Patrick’s neck saying, “I won’t be upset, Daddy. I’ll still love you very much.”
Patrick patted Rosemary’s head and said, “Go home with your auntie.”
Rosemary waved her little hand then took Perla’s hand as they both got into the car.
Ridge had already gotten into the car earlier so he saw everything that happened between Rosemary and Patrick clearly without even listening in on their conversation. He couldn’t understand how Rosemary thought that being cute with their dad would make her wish come true.
Anyway, Ridge had figured it out now. Whether it was a younger brother or a younger sister, he will welcome it.
However, he still preferred a younger brother.
Of course, it was all because he already had a sister like Rosemary, and Ridge would only feel overwhelmed if he had another sister like her.
Patrick drove away with Aimee sitting next to him in passenger seat looking up at him asking, “Did Rosemary encourage you?”
“Yes,” replied Patrick chuckling softly, “It makes me nervous though. What if I disappoint her?”
Aimee suggested, “Why not consider my idea? Use some external help.”
Patrick turned towards Aimee, giving her a glance and saying, “Don’t even think about it! I have my pride too.”
Aimee laughed non-stop realizing this was probably first time she ever heard such words coming out from Patrick’s mouth. “Then let us both try our bests so we can pick good seeds.”
Patrick’s gaze shifted slightly and the speed quickened a bit.
Aimee said, “Don’t be in such a hurry. Safety comes first.”
Patrick said, “Aimee, please don’t intentionally provoke me. I really can’t handle it.”
Aimee laughed so hard that her stomach hurt.
However, she knew when to stop and didn’t push it too far.
Otherwise, Patrick will really get angry. When they arrived at La Grande Maison, it will be her who suffered.
On the rest of the way, Aimee didn’t say anything else.
However, she was completely wrong.
Patrick had no intention of showing any mercy to her.
As soon as he entered the door, Patrick picked up Aimee and carried her straight into the kitchen.
Aimee was struck dumb.
She said, “It’s still daytime. Can you please not be so exaggerated?”
Patrick said, “This is so exciting.”
What can Aimee do? This time if Patrick can’t get enough, he might play tricks later.
The result that after Patrick got satisfied was that Aimee wondered if she would never be able to hold a scalpel again.
Of course, this was not the most terrible thing. For Aimee, the most terrible thing was that Patrick kept his hand on Aimee’s stomach, and muttered in his mouth, “It’s a sister, please.”
Aimee was so annoyed by him that she really wanted to lift her foot and kick him down.
However, it was also the first time Aimee had seen Patrick like this. Despite having some quirks, he was still quite adorable.
Aimee said, “If he already exists now and is a younger brother, he would definitely cry to hear you say that.”
Patrick can’t help but think of Ridge’s face whenever he thought of boys.
When thinking of Ridge, he imagined the two of them staring at each other and being aloof towards each other.
Patrick said, “So, I hope he can pull himself together.”
Aimee was at a loss for words and pulled Patrick’s hand away, saying, “It’s still uncertain. Don’t act like I’ve already pregnant.”
Patrick raised an eyebrow upon hearing this and looked at Aimee. “Aimee, why do I feel like you’re doubting my abilities?” he asked.
Aimee was speechless.
Oh no, the current Patrick was like someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and he was not at all calm.
Aimee immediately softened her voice, ready to soothe Patrick.
However, it was too late now.
