River wasn’t polite and said directly, “Of course it is! She’s my sister after all. Although no one dares openly covet her, there are many who want her secretly. In my heart though, it’s clear that even if someone were able to make their move first like you bastard did – it would be outrageous.”
Yael thought that this was thanks in part due to River’s help. If it weren’t for him mentioning it first, then maybe they wouldn’t have been able understand each other’s feelings so quickly.
Perhaps Beata would never think in that direction and he might only realize his feelings towards her when she was with someone else.
But by then he knew himself well enough not to try and take Beata away from anyone else because ultimately she belonged with whoever she chose herself.
However, Yael couldn’t say these things now as Beata’s document was still in River’s hands.
Yael could be sure that if he really spoke those words aloud, River probably wouldn’t give up the document for ten years or more.
In any case, Yael was anxious but Beata wasn’t.
They chatted on deck for half an hour before River finally said, “I’m giving Beata completely over to you this time. If you fail her, I won’t consider us friendship anymore.”
“Don’t worry,” Yael replied. “If there comes a day where something happens, I won’t need your help. I’ll take care of myself.”
River said, “As for you, I understand. To put it simply, I’m just saying these things for your benefit. I know you wouldn’t do anything to hurt Beata. As for Beata, you also understand that she may seem carefree on the surface but she’s actually very stubborn and once she sets her mind to something, there’s no changing it.”
“I’m not worried about either of you straying from each other, but Beata is still young and can be immature at times so you should be more patient with her.”
Yael replied, “I don’t see her as a child but rather as someone who will spend the rest of my life with me. Whatever she wants to do, I’ll support her all the way and you can trust me on that.”
River didn’t say anything else after that.
The two of them stayed on deck for a while until Averi came over and Yael left to go back to his room.
Beata had no idea what Yael and River talked about but now that she was full from eating dinner, her mind started racing again.
This led her to think about an especially pressing issue – she hadn’t shown herself all day long! Why was this? And how would she face other people afterwards?
Beata buried herself in Yael’s embrace and clung onto his waist before whispering in embarrassment, “What am I going to do? I can’t show my face anymore.”
Yael looked at her curiously before realizing what Beata meant.
He gently patted Beata’s back before saying reassuringly, “There’s nothing embarrassing about it. Everyone will only wish us well.”
Even though Yael said everyone would bless them, Beata was still too shy to even want to go out.
Yael indulged her. When she didn’t want to go out, Yael won’t force her.
The two of them were in the room when River called and asked them to come out. Beata shook her head desperately at Yael, so Yael made an excuse that Beata was still sleeping and refused River’s invitation.
Of course, River once again insulted Yael and called him a beast.
Yael didn’t really mind, but after hanging up the phone, Beata came over to him and said pitifully, “I’m sorry Yael. I’ve damaged your reputation.”
Yael hugged Beata on his lap and said, “I don’t mind.”
Beata nudged towards Yael’s neck and said, “You just like me so much? It doesn’t matter if your reputation is damaged.”
Yael raised an eyebrow at the words and said, “I thought my feelings for you were already very clear.”
Beata didn’t know what to say.
Her face instantly turned red. Indeed, her body still hurt.
However, taking advantage of her current “underdog” status, Beata twisted and turned on his legs completely disregarding anything else.
Of course, she had no problem with it, but it was really tormenting Yael.
Yael really wanted to pick up Beata and take her away from his legs, but he can’t bear to do it.
After Beata made a fuss for a while, she started giggling uncontrollably towards Yael.
She now had some experience and can naturally feel how much Yael was suffering.
After settling down obediently, Beata said, “I’m so bad. Why don’t you discipline me?”
Yael was provoked and took a bite on Beata’s cheek, saying, “You know you’re bad, but even if you’re the worst, you’re still my darling. I can’t bear to let you go.”
Upon hearing this, Beata laughed even more freely.
She said, “Originally I thought that I wouldn’t recover so slowly and even wanted to shorten it from a week to three days. But since you’ve said so, if I change my mind now, it would seem like I have no credibility. So let’s stick with a week.”
Yael was speechless.
This girl was clearly here to torture him.
With a hint of danger in his gaze, Yael said, “You better think carefully about it. I’ll check and if you’ve already recovered but intentionally lie to me and say you haven’t, I can’t guarantee how angry I’ll be in a week’s time.”
She stared at Yael for a long time, swallowing a small sip of water before saying, “Yael Kirkland, are you threatening me now?”
This wasn’t the first time Beata had called Yael by his full name. Over the past two years, whenever they argued, Beata would use his full name.
But this time, it was clear that Yael’s words had scared her.
Beata couldn’t imagine how much more fierce Yael could be.
However, she soon realized one thing.
She lifted her chin and looked at Yael and said, “That’s fine too. Anyway if you’re mean to me, I’ll just take another week off.”
Yael almost laughed out loud at Beata’s words. She was counting on him not being able to do anything about it.
But what could he do? If Beata said one week, then he knew he would really give her one week off.
Beata blinked innocently with her eyes and believed that she wasn’t the one who would feel bad. So if Yael wanted to “bully” her, then go ahead.
Inside the room, Beata and Yael had been discussing this topic, while outside everyone was seriously discussing the idea of opening a restaurant.
Later on, Mikayla also understood the purpose of this restaurant and was very cooperative in making it her own.
However, when Mikayla suggested that she could work as the head chef herself with some effort, everyone advised against it.
Patrick bluntly said, “Mikayla, we can eat anything ourselves but we can’t embarrass outsiders.”
Mikayla looked at Patrick even though she really wanted to scold him harshly. But who made her timid? Who made her full of awe for her brother-in-law?
The key was that Mikayla also knew that her sister loved Patrick so much. She dared guarantee that if she made a fuss with Patrick here, Aimee will make sure she didn’t get away with it.
Therefore, even though Mikayla was hurt by Patrick’s words, she still didn’t dare to speak recklessly in front of him.
Fortunately there was Ash there.
Ash said, “Mikayla has improved greatly now. I think catching up with Aimee is just around the corner.”
Everyone looked at Ash speechlessly when he finished speaking.
Aimee was completely speechless. It wasn’t because she thought too highly of herself or believed that what she cooked tasted better than what Mikayla cooked; it was simply an objective fact!
Matilda directly said, “That’s for sure! As long as you don’t blow up the kitchen, everything you cook tastes great!”
Ash immediately begged Matilda for mercy and asked her to go easy on him. Of course Matilda just meant to tease him without any intention of bullying him into anything serious!
She continued saying, “Mikayla has indeed improved quite a bit but being a head chef requires learning many things. If Mikayla really wants to be one, then training would be necessary.”
Mikayla said, “Matilda, did you deal harshly with me, then offer advice by way of consolation? I’m moved by what you said.”
“Mikayla,” Matilda added after seeing how moved Mikayla seemed by all these compliments, “your brother-in-law isn’t wrong about taking responsibility towards outsiders.”
The food industry is actually one of the hardest industries out there; no one knew what kind of customers they might encounter so having so many people together meant they cannot let Mikayla take such risks alone!
Over the years, Matilda had been in the entertainment industry and understood how much influence public opinion can have.
Although Mikayla was about to graduate, she was still a child to her older siblings. There was no reason for a child to be at the forefront.
Aimee said, “I’ll decide on the menu with Kelvin. You guys can set the main tone and we’ll design it based on that. We’ll find a chef who’s smart and easy-going.”
Everyone burst out laughing when they heard this because finding someone with a good temperament wasn’t easy.
However, Aimee made it clear that this was mandatory and Damion and Ivy didn’t object.
“Pat and I have found a great location for our store. If you agree, we can all go check it out together when we get back,” Aimee said.
Everyone could imagine the position that Aimee and Patrick had settled into. Eden said, “After all these years, I still can’t figure out how much wealth Aimee has.”
Ash added, “I know, and even Aimee doesn’t know.”
Aimee couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. She had never counted her assets before. But she always got what she wanted.
Everyone present was well off financially. However, at this moment, someone sighed that money was always relative – there would always be someone richer than them.
Ben said, “If Aimee were to personally cook as head chef in this restaurant, it would definitely become bigger and stronger.” Aimee looked at Ben speechlessly and said,” Why do you make me sound like a gang leader? I’m just an ordinary citizen.”
But everyone actually agreed with Ben’s words. They were not people who spoke without thinking things through; even Damion had his own principles. However, none of them could resist the charm of Aimee’s cooking skills.
Of course, this might also be because she rarely cooked nowadays especially since returning to the hospital to save lives through surgery. She hadn’t cooked for them in a long time.
At this moment when no one had discussed it beforehand, everyone looked at her with similar expressions. Patrick couldn’t help but say, “It sounds great, but her hands need to be used on the operating table too.”
Eden quipped, “We know you care about your wife, but if we’re opening a restaurant and creating menus, it makes sense for us to test dishes ourselves. We have so many people here. It’d be great!”
Patrick almost laughed out loud at Eden’s words. Aimee needed no testing ;if they wanted to test dishes, it should be done by professional chefs. However, Patrick found himself outnumbered this time around.
Miles suggested, “Aimee, you see, the hunger marketing strategy is working. If possible, could you kindly satisfy our wish?”
Aimee didn’t mind and replied directly, “No problem, arrangements will be made tomorrow.”
Patrick sighed. He couldn’t argue with his wife’s decision anymore. No matter how much he cared about her, Aimee’s arrangement must stand firm now!
Looking down at Aimee, Patrick said, “What ingredients do you need? I’ll have someone bring them over later.”
As soon as he spoke, everyone started teasing him.
