Tatiana was about to retort when Alyssa beat her to it, asking slowly, “Oh? What do you mean by that?
Why can’t she be here?”
“She’s my classmate! I know her better than anyone else here!” Brie had always been someone who tossed others under the bus, even when she was in trouble.
“She would never get an invitation for this event tonight! Your secretary must have snuck her in! I can leave, but she has to too!”
“Taty, is this woman really your classmate?” Alyssa asked softly, going to Tatiana’s side and gently holding her shoulder.
Brie’s gaped in shock.
What was going on? Why were Alyssa Taylor and Tatiana so close?
“Yes, Lyse.” Tatiana knew it was futile to hide her identity any longer. Her head lowered in guilt. “I’m so sorry for causing you all this trouble. It’s all my fault.”
“Silly girl, I don’t find this troublesome in the least bit. In fact, I would be worried if you didn’t ask for help.
What would a sister like me be good for otherwise?” Alyssa gently pinched Tatiana’s cheek.
Feeling numb as she stared at Alyssa and Tatiana, Brie asked, “Is Tatiana… your sister? For real?”
Alyssa hugged Tatiana, sneering, “Of course she is. Why do you think her last name is Taylor?”
A low buzzing sound filled Brie’s mind.
Her legs wobbled weakly beneath her. The next thing she knew, she had crumpled onto the floor.
Tatiana… was from the Taylor family?
This woman, who had been subjected to bullying and harassment at Solana Film Academy… was
Winston Taylor’s daughter?
“Tonight’s birthday celebration is meant for my father’s third wife, Lyla. Lyla happens to be Tatiana’s mother, so in a way, this entire night is meant for both Tatiana and her mother. The same goes for all of our guests.
“Yet you barged in here with your fake invitation, insulted my secretary when we stopped you, and humiliated my sister in the process.
“Based on those actions alone, Ms. Caldwell, I have sufficient grounds to sue you for defamation.”
Alyssa’s tone was icy as she gazed at Brie, her eyes boiling with dark fury.
Her words struck Brie like lightning.
“Lyse…” Tatiana’s words caught in her throat as she gazed tearfully at Alyssa.
Brie’s face was flushed red. It felt like Alyssa had slapped her with her words.
“Take her away. Now!” Sean ordered coldly, no longer wanting to waste his time with Brie.
“Mr. Josh was the one who gave me this invitation, Ms. Alyssa! I didn’t know it was fake!” Brie had no choice but to use this card at the very last second to defend herself.
“Mr. Josh is here tonight too. You can ask him yourself to verify what I said!”
Both Tatiana and Sean looked at Alyssa at the same time.
Alyssa was smiling like the cat who had caught the canary. She secretly snapped her fingers.
Finally! She had waited all night for Brie to toss Josh under the bus!
In the hall, Josh and Clarissa were having a lively conversation with Jonah.
Josh had not only taken over several substantial holding companies under Schmidt Group but was also expected to take over the company one day. Jonah, on the other hand, being Winston’s eldest and all, would likely take over KS Group one day as well.
Hence, Josh didn’t mind spending some time building a connection with Jonah, even though he held no respect for the polyamorous relationship Winston Taylor had.
“I heard KS Group intends to develop in Solana City, Mr. Jonah. You’ve made quite some progress lately.”
Josh had on his winning smile.
“I’m sure we’ll be seeing one another in the business world soon. We’re on the same level, and our parents are good friends. I do hope that friendship extends to our generation and beyond.”
Jonah smiled lightly and made a toast to him.
“If you u ever have any big projects in Solana City, Mr. Jonah, you know where to find us. I’m sure if we worked together, we would be an unstoppable force, not just in Solana City but even in the country itself,”
Josh said before taking a sip of his drink. His strong ambition was plain to see.
“You’re mostly correct. Nonetheless, I’m afraid that I won’t be in my position for long. I’ll soon be taking a step back Jonah’s expression was calm as he drank his wine.
This made Josh and Clarissa share a look of confusion. “What do you mean?”
“As you all know, it wasn’t my intention to take over this position in the first place. I’m only doing this for my father’s sake and to give my siblings a chance to fulfill their dreams and goals instead of being burdened by other responsibilities,” Jonah explained
He couldn’t help but smile fondly upon recalling Alyssa. “Now that Alyssa is back and enthusiastic about managing our family business, I’ll be handing over the mantle to her once the time is right.”
Josh’s expression was an incredulous one. “Do you mean… that Mr. Taylor means to make Ms. Alyssa the CEO of KS Group?”
“Yes.” Jonah nodded. It wasn’t some secret, after all. Alyssa was bound to take over the family business one day. There was no one more suitable in their family.
“But she’s so young and inexperienced. Shouldn’t she be enjoying her youth? What about marriage and having a family of her own?” Clarissa asked gently.
“Plus, I’m sure you have several other siblings, all competent and capable enough to take over the family business. Should it really be passed on to Ms. Alyssa’s hands? Wouldn’t she be under such unnecessary pressure?”
“I understand your concerns, Madam Clarissa, but Lyse is no ordinary woman, Marriage and raising children don’t go with her principles at all. She might end up abandoning us once again, only returning when I’m in my 70s,” Jonah joked.
“I would rather she stay by my side and be CEO than have her leave. We’ve doted on her since she was a child. As long as she wants something, I’ll be sure to give it to her if she asks.”
Clarissa was touched by his statement
The Schmidt family was already chaotic, even though there were only four children, with three being born to the same mother. Yet Winston’s family, with his three wives and countless children, were so selflessly offering their family business without argument?
It was incredibly hard to believe!
Though Josh commended Jonah’s actions, he secretly scoffed at them.
Jonah really was foolish to be doting on his sister so blindly and giving his bright future up in the process.
He would surely live to regret it!
“Mr. Josh!” Just then, Josh’s secretary, Morgan Styles, hurried over. The moment Morgan saw Clarissa, however, he swallowed his words back down.
“Please excuse me for a moment,” Josh said with a polite smile.
Jonah nodded. “Go ahead.”
The moment Josh left, Clarissa’s expression turned gloomy.
“What did you say?” Josh asked after hearing what Morgan had to say, and his brows furrowed.
“Ms. Caldwell is here, but she was barred outside the premises by the Taylor family’s bodyguards. She insists on seeing you right now. Some of the guests have noticed her too!” Morgan reported in a hushed tone.
“She isn’t fit to be present at such an event. Kick her out.”
“Mr. Josh, I also heard that Ms. Alyssa had found Ms. Caldwell insulting Ms. Tatiana,” Morgan said worriedly
“I don’t think Ms. Alyssa plans to let this go lightly, sir. Things might escalate if you don’t show up right
MOU
Josh’s expression was dark as he tugged at his tie. “Alright then.”
Alyssa had wanted to deliver Brie to justice, but after Tatiana’s persistent pleas not to make a bigger scene and take care of it in private instead, Alyssa had decided to do just that.
They were in one of the empty halls right now, with two burly bodyguards flanking Brie. Under pressure,
Brie’s obnoxious demeanor from earlier had disappeared entirely.
