“Mom, what’s the plan?” Sniffling, Betty seemed more alive once she heard that Allison would be taught a lesson.

Sophia crossed her arms on her chest and snickered. “You’ll know by then.”

Betty’s phone buzzed at that time. She checked her phone and yelped at such a high pitch that Sophia almost had a heart attack

“Why the fuck did you do that at night?”

“I’m going to kill that bitch Allison!” Betty screamed and stomped around like a manic¨Cdepressive.

Sophia’s phone was the next to ring. It was a call from Liana.

“What’s the matter, Lia?”

I

“Aunt Sophia, I bet you’ve seen the photos I sent Betty. Right?” Liana sounded concerned.

“What photos?” Sophia snatched Betty’s phone for a better look and stared in shock.

“I was shopping at the mall with Jeremy and ran into Allison. She was with Landon Harper. They looked so intimate that everyone would have thought they were a thing.

“Not only that, Mr. Harper bought her an expensive blue diamond necklace. Jeremy had wanted to buy that necklace for me, but Mr. Harper fought for it and gave it to that bitch.”

Sighing quietly, Liana added, “It’s just a necklace to me, but Betty’s marriage is at stake. She’s the future Mrs. Harper. Allison will be a problem in her marriage. This is a serious matter.”

*That little bitch. Is she thirsty for men? How dare she come for my future son¨Cin¨Claw?” Clenching her jaw, Sophia had a venomous look in her eyes. “Since she loves cheating, I’ll show her!”

She thought, “Allison Burton, your time is up. Javier’s birthday is the day of your downfall!”

In the next three days, Jeremy recuperated in the hospital. He did not inform anyone of the incident to have some peace. He even made up an excuse not to take calls from Liana and did not request her to visit him.

Before going to sleep every night, he’d think of the scene where he forcefully kissed Allison on the lips. The tenderness of her lips remained vivid.

He fell that he was going insane Liquor was the root of all evil He gritted his teeth and

On the fourth day, he lost his temper because Allison had not shown up to

“Mr. Jeremy, the doctor gave the green light for your discharge. You can couture tailored suit in his hand.

“Did Allison Burton reach out to you? Jeremy questioned

“N¨CNo”

“Hah! Her man almost killed me. Is she going to muddle through this? Jeremy tenched his fingers as a glue wa What about the yearbook from my alma mater, the National Military Academy? Have you found or

“I got it!” Xavier put the sult aside and extracted a thick album with a navy cover from his bag.

Jeremy solemnly took the yearbook proffered and began skimming through.

His opponent from that night had a similar physique to him. Though he wore a mask, Jeremy felt the man was very familiar. They must have met once before.

His understanding of Axel’s background was limited. Their military school followed a policy of safeguarding identities and related issues. But now that Jeremy knew of his identity as Allison’s brother, the clouds were clearing up. After some time, Jeremy leaped up in surprise, staring at the yearbook on his knee. The gesture surprised Xavier, who also jumped slightly at the commotion.

“Did you see something, sir?”

“Hm…him, of all people?” Jeremy murmured to himself.

The man he’d hone in had a wide, handsome smile. Below his picture was the name “Axel Whitaker.”

“Axel Whitaker … Whitaker … No wonder he seemed to know her!” Jeremy exclaimed.

He had fond memories of the man. The two were one of the strongest individuals in the school. Their only worthy opponents were each other. Sadly, Jeremy lost contact with Axel after they graduated.

Jeremy gazed feverishly at the picture. He was excited that he had uncovered a little more about Allison’s mysterious past.

He was unaware of Axel’s background. At their military school, they enforced a confidentiality policy for identities and similar concerns. But now that Jeremy knew of his identity as Allison’s brother, the clouds were clearing up. Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Xavier went to open it. He was surprised to see who it was outside.

With a lavish-looking goodie bag in hand, Sean smiled at the secretary. “I’m here on Ms. Burton’s instructions to check in on Mr. Walsh. Has he woken up yet?”

“Come in,” Jeremy called out from inside the room.

Xavier pursed his lips but let Sean step in regardless.

Sean walked inside. He placed the gift on the table before saying politely,” Looks like Ms. Burton was right about you, sir. You look ready to be discharged any time soon.”

“Are you here alone?” Jeremy peeked outside the door briefly, hoping to find that young, delicate woman standing outside.

“I’m afraid Ms. Burton is still occupied with the hotel management. She has asked me to come on her behalf. As her personal secretary, I would rightly represent her in this instance.”

The first part of the sentence wasn’t said as instructed. But Sean thought it would be appropriate to add in order to hit back at the insolent man before him.

Sure enough, Jeremy’s face darkened some. “You can take back this meaningless gift. I don’t want it.”

“Per Ms. Burton’s instructions, if sir doesn’t want it, sir is free to dispose of it. Miss has no intention of retracting gifts she has given,” Sean responded flatly. “Have Allison come see me in person.” Jeremy stood up, now meeting Sean at full height.

“My apologies, Mr. Walsh, but Ms. Burton’s time is occupied. She won’t be able to see you anytime soon. She has given me full authority regarding reimbursing your losses.

“Feel free to state your terms. Ms. Burton will agree to most things save the illegal kind.”

Sean’s smile never wavered.

“I want to see her.”

“No.”

“Then why are you wasting my time here?” Xavier cried, going up to Sean, already at his limit. “You’re just here to aggravate Mr. Walsh, aren’t you?” Sean’s smile took on a sly edge, affirming the men’s guesses.

“Go and tell your mistress,” Jeremy gritted out. “That she WILL tell me the identity of the man who attacked me. I am not letting her off otherwise.”

“I will admit Walsh Group has one of the most formidable legal teams in Solana City, Mr. Walsh. But our team is just as prepared to face anything you toss at us,” Sean replied sterly. “Do not expect us to be sitting ducks if you truly intend to take legal action against Ms. Burton.”

His eyes then took on a peculiar shade. “But I’m sure Mr. Walsh isn’t so unreasonable, no? Given how strategically organized and managed the Walsh Group has been for so long.”

With that, Sean bowed and turned to leave.

Before stepping out, he asked, “Mr. Walsh, Ms. Burton has also asked me to ask you if you were the one who arranged Ms. Betty’s press conference?”

“That is none of your business,” Jeremy grunted coldly.

“I’ll take my leave then.”

With that, Sean was gone.

“How dare he? He was clearly here to upset you, sir!” Xavier exclaimed, fighting the urge to run out and slap Sean in the face.

Jeremy took a deep breath to try and calm himself. “Go and follow him right now. I want to know where he’ll go and what he’s up to next!”

Alyssa was supposed to be busy managing the KS World Hotel in her office. The reality was, she was playing a survival game in her office. In the game, Alyssa was a chainsaw¨Cwielding maniac. To win, she had to kill survivors.

Cans of ice¨Ccold beer and a plate of fried chicken were on the desk before her. Those were the foods she often enjoyed while playing her games.

She had no interest in the extravagant opulence of lavish restaurants and elite bars. Nothing could beat a good barbecue or a plateful of grits. 1

Alyssa recalled pushing through her allergies to learn cooking while married to Jeremy. An old saying. “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, fascinated her. So, she learned to cook. She hoped her cooking would finally make Jeremy do more than just quietly eat the lood at the table.

Alyssa had registered for the culinary classes at Solana City’s top culinary school. She was the only female student there for an entire year.

She graduated at the top of her class. Her teacher was very proud of her and sald she was the best student he had ever taught. He even considered making her his culinary heir.

Alyssa realized the age¨Cold saying didn’t work for Jeremy. Besides, he hardly ate at home.

Who could manage such disappointment?
