“It’s my decision, Elijah. Even if I decide to stay away from him, I’ve been exposed to Lukas and his enemies would come after me. Staying with him is the best solution,” nor would she be penniless if he decides he doesn’t want her anymore, Rhea added in her mind.
She has been stealing more of Lukas’s money and keeping them in a place he wouldn’t be able to find it, nor was he wasn’t complaining. If anything, Lukas seems to be dropping more for her to find as if it was fun to do.
“Does it look like I’m giving you a choice, Rhea?” Elijah asked her coldly.
“And I’m not leaving,” Rhea stood her ground even though her heart was pounding in her chest. She was afraid that Elijah would do something extreme, but she couldn’t give in to his demands either.
Seeing her blunt refusal, Elijah’s face darkened and though he let go of Rhea’s hands, the hollow and cold look in his eyes told her that she just successfully provoked him.
“It seems that you have forgotten who I am,” He said with a sense of foreboding.
Rhea released a shaky breath, “You would not hurt me.” She was sure.
“No, not you. I would never hurt you, Rhea, ” He admitted, “But not Lukas.”
Her gaze shifted to him instantly, “You wouldn’t dare!”
“Push me and we’d see.”
“I would hate you,”
“I wouldn’t care as far as I saved you from Lukas,” Elijah wasn’t moved by her threat.
Rhea shivered, she was in deep waters and she didn’t know how to navigate around it.
“I’ll take my leave now, but I’ll be in touch.” He informed her, “You know my real face now, hence, it’s left to you to inform Lukas about it and get me killed or keep your mouth shut about it and I’ll rescue you. It’s your choice, Rhea.” Elijah told her, moments before he dived out through the window and left her alone with her thoughts.
Her Nightmare
Clara woke up with a groan, her hand grabbing her head as she felt a heavy throbbing. Where the hell was she? She couldn’t see a thing because it was dark.
Suddenly, it hit Clara as her memories returned. The last thing she remembered was Lukas trying to get the truth out of her mouth. Oh, no. She rose to her feet, but the moment she did, the light suddenly came on and blinded her.
Clara shielded her eyes from the blinding light and after a while, she was able to focus her sight. She looked around only to discover that she was in some sort of glass prison. It was eight feet wide and high, the size of a shipping container which left her more confused, why did Lukas put her here?
Nonetheless, Clara felt uncomfortable especially when she had flashes of him prodding her mind, she felt used and molested. With Lukas having gone crazy, Clara was afraid of him even though she didn’t show it in her expression.
“Lukas!” Clara screamed his name as she pushed against the glass, trying to find a way out of it. It was a one-way glass, meaning that Clara couldn’t see anything from her spot, and she had a feeling Lukas was watching her.
“Are you out of your mind? Get me the fuck out of here?!” She screamed orders at him. Clara wasn’t claustrophobic, but the thought of being here for God knows when till Lukas decides otherwise was enough to make her become one.
It was just a mistake, how dare he take it out on her? As if she was the only sinner in their relationship?! He wasn’t a saint either! He had taken in a mistress during the time of their relationship when he should have remained faithful! How dare he punish her! He lost mere weapons!
Moreover, they’ve broken up anyway, why was he taking it out on her? Lukas was nothing but a bastard! Free now, she would find a better man than him. She wondered if Luther would change his mind if she went back to him.
There was a weird sound coming from the corner and Clara turned to it, her brows furrowed. What the hell was that? Everywhere in the weird cell was sealed except for a little opening in the wall that looked like a pet flap, except that it was much smaller and Clara couldn’t go out through it even if she tried.
…..
However, there was a sudden movement and Clara watched as a flurry thing jumped in and the moment her gaze took it in, a scream left her lips.
“Aah!” Clara shouted as the little cute furry mammal, with long ears, short fluffy tails, and strong, large hind legs stared at her.
No, no, no, this was her nightmare come true. That was when it hit her, Lukas was able to get her to talk with that truth serum and she had told Lukas what she feared the most – being in close contact with a rabbit.
God, no, please, tell her this was not real. However, staring at the rabbit pacing around in her cell was as real as day and Clara couldn’t breathe. She turned to the glass and began to pound on it.
“Lukas!” She screamed at the top of her voice. Clara couldn’t stay in here with that terrifying creature, she was going to die.
However, as if that wasn’t enough, another rabbit popped in and Clara screamed like a banshee. She turned to the glass hurriedly and began to pound her fist on it heavily.
“Fine, I’m sorry! I’m sorry, Lukas! Just let me out here!” Clara apologized desperately, her breath coming deeply as if she was going to faint. She had gained the phobia after a traumatic rabbit attack during her childhood, since then, the idea of a rabbit or even the image of them scared the living hell out of her.
However, there was no response from Lukas and by the time Clara turned around, there were about seven of the rabbits in the cell with her, and more seem ready to arrive because she saw a head popping out of the pet flap.
Clara stumbled back, however, she felt one of the little creature nip the back of her leg and she shrieked, jumping without restraint on her heels as if wanting to stomp the rabbit to death.
But then, the thought of stomping one of the rabbits to death, its disgusting body impaled on her heel frightened the hell out of her either way and in the process of dodging the creature that was nearly filling up the space in the cell, her heel bent and Clara found herself falling.
All of the rabbits now counting fifteen ran for their lives as she fell to her ass. It was the most humiliating day of her life, but Clara didn’t give a damn as she crawled back, tears streaming down her cheeks.
She was so sorry. She wouldn’t challenge Lukas anymore, no, she would leave him alone for life. Lukas can live happily after, with his mistress, she wouldn’t bother them anymore. However, it was too late for Clara because Lukas couldn’t hear those apologies.
“No, get away from me! Don’t come close!” Clara shrieked, swatting away at any rabbit that come close to her. But then, for how long would that last because the little space was already overflowing with rabbits and she could guess there were about thirty of them now.
In one word, each time she successfully chased one away, two replaced them and she wasn’t able to stop them from clawing and scratching at her. Some even pulled at her hair in their haste to crawl away as Clara screamed relentlessly – some were even mating right in front of her.
Clara pulled her legs up to her chest while covering her ears with her hands to block their unending noises with her eyes closed. She had to believe that she wasn’t real.
“This was a dream, a nightmare. It wasn’t real and she was going to be okay,” Clara chanted like a lunatic while the rabbits rained chaos in her cell.
Bring His Woman Home
“Leporiphobia,” Victor turned to Lukas by his side, “This is the first time I’m seeing someone with such phobia.”
The both of them stood in front of the glass cell watching Clara who was putting up a show for them.
“With Clara, you shouldn’t be surprised,” Lukas meant it. The girl would have been the death of him had they ended up marrying. And he meant that literally.
“Those who suffer from this phobia may find the appearance of rabbits unsettling and the fear that rabbits will attack them,” Lukas explained, watching as Clara curled in on herself. It had taken them time to set all of this up, but it was worth it.
“This might have a lasting psychological effect on her,” Victor said, his gaze on his cousin. He was pointing out that Lukas’s method might have been a little bit too harsh.
Lukas arched a brow, “Really? You think I went too far?”
Victor gulped down saliva without saying a word. He knew better than to question Lukas’s decision right now.
Lukas took a step forward till he was standing right in front of his cousin. He then reached out and lifted his chin so they were staring into each other’s gaze.
