Would Danika agree to the marriage if she knew? Vincent had witnessed the hardships they had gone through to get to where they were, so he truly hoped they could get married peacefully.

“What are you thinking? She requested this,” Eustace said, glancing at him. Did Vincent think so poorly of him?

Vincent let out a sigh of relief, but he was still puzzled. “This is Miss Zellweger’s request? Why?”

“You’ve been talking a lot lately,” Eustace said, side-eying him. Perhaps because they had spent so much time together, Eustace noticed that Vincent feared him less and occasionally even exchanged jokes with him. Was he becoming more approachable?

Eustace was unaware of how he had changed, but Vincent was fully aware. Previously, Eustace was difficult to deal with, but since he got together with Danika, he had become much gentler. The cold and haughty air he had once carried himself with had completely disappeared.

Instead of asking more questions, Vincent said, “Preparations have started at the wedding venue.”

“Okay, what about the wedding dress?” Eustace asked.

“They are working on the one from Farance, so it should be delivered on time,” Vincent replied.

Eustace nodded in satisfaction and proceeded to ask about the wedding rings and other wedding-related matters. He had to ensure that everything was going on smoothly before he could feel reassured.

Meanwhile, after the call with Eustace, Danika began analyzing the information she had. In her opinion, all the girls on her list were outstanding and beautiful. If she were a man, she would love every one of them.

Her phone rang at that moment, which interrupted her and annoyed her. However, when she saw that it was a call from Alfred, she decided to answer it. If Alfred didn’t call her from time to time, she might have forgotten about her own company. She chose to answer his call because of Old Mr. Quincey’s instructions. She had decided to meet Mortimer.

“Danika, have you forgotten about your Jeneration Group?” Alfred asked, sounding mildly annoyed.

With a dry laugh, Danika answered, “Have you eaten? Let me treat you to a meal.”

“Hmph, don’t you dare think that that would make me continue working for you.”

He had never seen an employer like Danika, so trusting of him. He could move the entire company away, and she wouldn’t even notice.

“Don’t be like that. I trust you and believe you will manage the company well, which is why I’m not too worried about Jeneration Group,” Danika said.

Sneering, Alfred replied, “Please come to the office.”

“No thanks, but let’s have dinner together tonight,” Danika suggested. “And invite your father.’

Alfred frowned, wondering if he had misheard. “You want me to invite my father? Are you sure?”

“Yes, I have something to discuss with him.” Danika knew that her request was sudden and unexpected. However, she didn’t have Mortimer’s contact information, so that was her only means to meet him.

Alfred found it strange since Danika and Mortimer weren’t the best of friends. Plus, Mortimer had plotted against Danika in the past. Hence, he wondered what Danika could have to discuss with him.

Although he was puzzled, he didn’t deny her request as he figured that her motives would only become clear during the dinner.

They Won’t do anything to Me

Upon learning that Danika would have dinner with Alfred and Mortimer in the evening, Eustace insisted on going with them. He was worried about Danika meeting them alone.

In the car, Eustace was driving while Danika leaned against the car window. In annoyance, she said, “You don’t have to worry so much. They won’t do anything to me.”

“Who knows?” Eustace didn’t want to take any risks. “I’ll accompany you. If they have any ill intentions, they won’t dare to act on it.”

“Alright, alright, whatever you say.” Danika didn’t want to argue with Eustace. After all, she would be discussing the matters entrusted to her by Old Mr. Quincey. Hence, there probably wouldn’t be any conflicts or arguments.

The car soon arrived at the restaurant. Alfred and Mortimer hadn’t arrived yet, so Danika chose a seat and waited for them.

It didn’t take long before the two of them arrived. They were visibly surprised to see Eustace there as well. But when they thought about it, it was expected as Danika and Eustace were about to get married. Hence, Eustace would be worried if Danika met them alone.

Mortimer felt a little bitter knowing that Eustace still had his guard up against him, afraid that he would plot against Danika again.

“Please take a seat,” Danika said, waving them over when she spotted them. Alfred and Mortimer walked over to her table and sat down.

Alfred didn’t bother to greet Eustace. Since their relationship was destined not to improve, he found no reason to exchange perfunctory greetings. He took out the documents he had brought and handed them to Danika. “These are the recent projects of the company. Take a look.”

Danika didn’t refuse. Since Alfred was willing to report to her, she had no reason to reject. It was just a matter of spending a few minutes to see how the projects were going. However, she couldn’t understand the details of the project. After a brief look, she returned the documents to Alfred.” Everything looks fine. It’s up to you to decide.”

“Okay,” Alfred put away the documents, aware that Danika didn’t understand them. But that didn’t matter, as he just wanted her to be aware of the projects.

After discussing about Jeneration Group, Alfred looked at Danika and asked, “So, what else do you want to talk about?”

Danika didn’t plan to beat around the bush either. She looked at Mortimer and said, “Eustace and I just returned from Parrington a few days ago.

Grandpa hopes that you can go back and accompany him.”

Mortimer was stunned when he heard that.

“His health is not good now, and as his only son, you should be by his side,” Danika added. She didn’t mention how he was inconveniencing Alfred by staying with him as she was afraid it would make Mortimer unhappy.

When Mortimer fell silent, Alfred said, “It’s up to you. If you want to go back, go back. If you don’t want to, it’s fine to stay in Bardoff City.”

Before he realized it, Mortimer’s gaze turned to Eustace, clearly wanting to hear his opinion. Unfortunately, Eustace completely ignored him and didn’t say a word. After a moment, Mortimer finally made a decision.

“I will go back to Parrington.”

Even though Alfred was taking care of him, it was not his hometown. It would be better for him to return to Parrington and stay with Old Mr. Quincey. He already had too many regrets and didn’t want to miss spending time with his father in his final moments.

With that, Mortimer was about to leave. He couldn’t stand how Eustace ignored him.

“Since we’re already here, let’s have dinner before leaving. There’s no rush,” Danika said, leaving Mortimer no chance to refuse.

They all had dinner together. While The atmosphere at the table wasn’t particularly pleasant, it didn’t escalate into an argument.

The next day, Danika brought a young girl she had chosen to meet Gilbert. At present, nothing was more important to Danika than finding a suitable partner for Gilbert. She didn’t want her brother to become a priest at Mount Wallington.

“Gilbert, this is Kitty Sunders,” Danika announced, introducing her to Gilbert.

Hearing that, Gilbert looked up at the two women in front of him. With a blank expression on his face, he answered, “Hello, Miss Sunders.”

“Hello, Gilbert. We’ve met before.”

Kitty was stunned when she received a phone call from Danika. She couldn’t believe that Danika would call her. After listening to the whole story, she became even more flabbergasted when Danika expressed wanting to bring Kitty to meet Gilbert for a blind date. It seemed like a scam. However, since it was Danika, she chose to believe her.

Only now, when she saw Gilbert before her, she confirmed Danika wasn’t joking and truly wanted to introduce her to him.

Meanwhile, Gilbert was puzzled because he didn’t remember Kitty.

With a smile, Kitty explained, “We met at an event once.”

Back then, she had greeted Gilbert, but he hadn’t paid her any attention.

Although Gilbert’s company was not among the best in Bardoff City, he was still favored by many wealthy young ladies. Everyone thought he had potential and a promising future. Moreover, he was handsome, making it hard for anyone to turn him down.

“Oh, really? Sorry, I don’t recall.” Gilbert didn’t feel any connection with Kitty. The only reason he had shown up was to appease Danika.

The conversation between the two was awkward. Although Danika tried her best to bring up interesting topics and keep the atmosphere lively, she ultimately failed.

After leaving the restaurant with Kitty, even before Danika had a chance to speak, Kitty said, “He doesn’t seem to like me.”

“Well…”

“I understand. We just didn’t have a connection,” Kitty wasn’t upset. Blind dates were like that; there was always a possibility of it not working out, so there was nothing to feel sad about.

Danika sighed, “I’m sorry for making you come all this way for nothing.”

“It’s not for nothing. My family benefited from it, didn’t they?” Kitty smiled. She didn’t participate in the blind date for free as her family obtained a project from Danika.

After parting ways with Kitty, Danika turned and walked back into the restaurant, where Gilbert was still sitting.

“Gilbert, do you think Miss Sunders isn’t good?” Danika pouted, pretending to be upset.

“She’s fine, but she has nothing to do with me,” Gilbert replied, focusing on nothing but eating his food.

Danika disagreed, immediately retorting, n.ove.lx.o “How can you say that? As long as you’re willing, that will change right away.”

Hearing that, Gilbert looked at her, trying to tell if she was joking.

Danika chuckled awkwardly, realizing that her words were a bit silly. “Gilbert, you should think for yourself.”

“Danika, I understand your concerns, but some things cannot be forced. Besides, I don’t have any plans to find a partner right now,” Gilbert said. He felt it necessary to make it clear to Danika as he didn’t want her to keep introducing women to him constantly.

“Gilbert, you really won’t give it a try? What if-” n.ove.lx.o Danika sighed, feeling hopeless.

Without hesitation, Gilbert shook his head. “There are no ‘what ifs.’ Danika, this will be the last time.”

“Gilbert…” Danika watched him stand up to leave, feeling worried.

Gilbert turned back to look at her. After a moment of deliberation, he said,” You don’t need to worry about me. Whatever decisions I make in the future, they will be what makes me happy, so you should be happy for me.”

With that, Gilbert left, leaving Danika sitting there.

She knew that Gilbert was right, but whenever she thought about him becoming a priest, it just didn’t bring her joy.

Danika attempted to introduce potential partners to Gilbert in the following days, but her efforts were in vain as Gilbert had no intention of meeting any of them. Eventually, Danika understood how resolute he was and decided to stop wasting her energy.

As the wedding day crept closer, Danika had to focus on her wedding preparations as there was only a month left. However, there wasn’t much for her to do since Eustace had already taken care of everything. All she needed to do was to try on wedding dresses, so she had it easy.

At the hospital, Danika resumed her work. She was in the middle of organizing her patient’s records after finishing her rounds when she was called to the director’s office.

“You wanted to see me?” Danika asked as she entered the office. The director immediately stood up to greet her.
