Eustace followed along irritably.
He couldn’t stay out of it because Zack was Danika’s family.
“I’ll go alone.You should rest.”
Danika hoped he could rest at home because he was busier than her.
Instead of listening to her, he was already in the driver’s seat.
“Stop nagging.Let’s go and take a look.” She said no more, and they departed for the hospital.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Zack was staring blankly at a letter in his hand.He never expected to wake up to Janet’s absence and the letter she left by his pillow.
She wrote that she was not a good match for him and that he deserved better.
Therefore, she chose to leave and asked that he stop looking for her.
That was utterly ridiculous to Zack.
Why would she think so? She was the perfect woman for him.
When Danika arrived, she found Zack spacing out by the edge of his bed.
Perhaps, he was too shocked to come up with a response.
He didn’t even look for Janet and opted to call Danika for help instead.
“Zack, what happened?” she asked.
He handed her the letter, which she skimmed through speechlessly.
“Did you not tell her I will settle her family trouble?”
“I told her.”
He thought Janet had taken his words seriously, but she seemed to have shrugged it off.Danika sighed, thinking that she should have hurried to the hospital and told Zack and Janet after she had settled the score with Janet’s family.
“Don’t worry.I’ll get someone to look for her.She has nowhere to go within Bardoff City, so we’ll find her in no time,” she comforted Zack.
Not long after, she and Eustace sent some men to search for Janet.
With their combined capacities, there was no one they couldn’t locate within the city.
“How about Gilbert? Did you not call him?” she asked.
Zack flashed her a bitter smile.
“Gilbert said he won’t get involved in my life anymore.He said that he’s unconcerned about Janet’s whereabouts.”
Dumbfounded, Danika realized that Gilbert must have been hurt after what she said to him.
That was why Gilbert had not shown up at the hospital for a few days.
Even when Zack called him, he declared he didn’t want to be involved.
Oh, whatever.
Danika decided to go to Gilbert’s and clear the air once they found Janet.
Come here, don’t be silly They found her soon, albeit in a bad place.
When Danika received the call, she immediately rushed over with Zack, praying that nothing would happen to Janet.She dared not imagine how Zack would be if something had happened to her.
Ten minutes later, the car pulled up in front of a tall building.
Many had gathered downstairs, and the firefighters were laying out an air cushion.It was obvious what was happening.
When Danika told Zack that Janet had been located, he was relieved.
At the moment, however, he was desperately climbing the stairs.
“Janet!” he yelled.
Seeing him running toward the stairs like a madman, she dragged him into the elevator in time.
God knew how long it would take for him to climb the stairs.
“Zack, calm down.How can you persuade Janet to calm down if you’re not calm?’ She was afraid that Zack might end up pushing Janet off the edge if he wasn’t calm.At her words, Zack steeled his nerves.Soon, the elevator doors opened, revealing the sky roof where firefighters were trying to persuade Janet.However, Janet’s heart was filled with nothing but despair.In her opinion, she never should have been born.
Death would return her to her rightful place as she didn’t deserve happiness.
Even though she had mentally prepared herself, her heart raced when Zack appeared.
“Janet!” Zack called to her.
“Don’t be silly.There’s nothing we can’t get through together.”
“Zack, I’m sorry.”
Janet smiled bitterly.
No one could understand the torment she was experiencing.
Refusing to hear her apologize, Zack was about to walk toward her, but Janet stopped him, saying, “Don’t come over, or I’ll jump.”
Zack had no choice but to stop, trying to figure out a way to convince Janet not to jump.
Sighing, Danika stepped forward and said, “I’ve already taken care of your parents, and they won’t trouble you again.”
“Really?”
Janet looked at Danika, doubting her words.
“Of course.I wanted to tell you the news tomorrow.Little did I know…”
Little did Danika know that Janet could wait no longer.
Fortunately, Janet was still hesitating.
If she decided to jump, no one would be able to stop her.
Danika’s words ignited a spark of hope in Janet.
However, she knew what her parents were like, and she was unconvinced that Danika could take care of them so easily.
“Danika, how did you convince them to give up?” she asked.
With a light chuckle, Danika replied, “Convince them? Why would I do that? I prefer to be more violent.It’s futile to try to convince people like them.You have to scare them to let them know you’re not easy to mess with so they won’t trouble you.”
Janet was too kind, which was why her parents took advantage of her.
Even though she started resisting them in recent years, it was to no avail, and they were still manipulating her.
Danika, however, was different.
Janet fell silent as she knew that Danika was right.
They would only get out of her sight if they were afraid.
“Janet, come here.Don’t be silly.Better days are just around the corner,” Zack said.
Janet seemed tempted.She wanted to live a happy life.
If her parents got out of her hair, she and Zack would be able to live a happy life.
In her moment of hesitation, Zack rushed over to embrace her.
After he wrapped her in his arms, he was relieved.
“You idiot! How could you do this to me!” he cried.
“I’m sorry…”
Janet buried her head in his chest.She had done it because she had no choice.
Eustace Might Not Want You Anymore
At 10 pm, Danika and company arrived at an eatery for kebabs and beer.
Due to what had happened earlier, everyone had a heavy heart. Fortunately, nothing happened in the end. If something did, Danika couldn’t imagine how Zack would live.
“I’m sorry, Danika,” Janet said, looking at Danika.
Sighing, Danika waved her apology away. “Just promise me you’ll be well and healthy. Don’t do it again. Even if you have no regard for yourself, please think about my brother. Don’t you know how much he loves you?”
Janet blushed, feeling both guilty and embarrassed. “It won’t happen in the future.” Since her parents had been dealt with, she wouldn’t do anything stupid again, even if Danika had not made her promise to do so.
“Hurry up and dig in. The kebabs here are delicious.” Zack beckoned them to eat, feeling much better than before. He opened a can of beer and immediately poured it into his glass.
