They never had much to talk about anyway.

When she entered the car, she stared out the window, registering the familiar sceneries around her wistfully. She wondered when her next visit would be.

The car drove away from her uncle’s place. She saw David waving to her, so she waved back as she left.

The driver brought the car at a slow speed on the way back.

They arrived at Parrington at 1 pm.

Everyone had a simple meal and went back to their respective rooms to rest.

Much to Danika’s surprise, Warren didn’t prepare a separate room for her.

She didn’t bother to argue with him and napped in the same room as Eustace.

They both understood that Old Mr.Quincey was pulling a trick, but there was no need to call him out and upset him.

Danika fell asleep once more in Eustace’s arms.It was dark when she woke up.

“Get up and have dinner.”

He beamed at her.

She rubbed her eyes and sat on the bed.

“It’s so late. You should have woken me up earlier.”

“It’s not late. You’re just in time for dinner,” he replied.

Let’s Visit Them

Old Mr.Quincey was waiting for Eustace and Danika at the dinner table.

“I’m sorry, Grandpa.I overslept.”

She looked embarrassed for making the old man wait.He waved it off and gestured at her to sit.

“It’s fine. It’s good to sleep longer for better rest.Take a seat and have dinner.”

The three of them took their seats and had dinner together.

After dinner, Old Mr.Quincey instructed Warren to bring him a box, which he handed to Danika.

“You’re getting married to Eustace. As his grandpa, I don’t have anything much to offer. This is a small gift.I wonder if you’d like it.”She stared at the box with a surprised look.

“Grandpa, this…”

“Take it.It’s just a welcome gift for you.Just see us as your family.”

He shoved the box into her hands.

She held onto the box and tilted her head to look at Eustace.

He smiled at her.

“Just accept it.It’s a token of appreciation from Grandpa.”

“Alright then.Thank you, Grandpa.”

She accepted the gift and thanked Old Mr.Quincey.

“Open the box.I wonder if it matches your preference.”

He was rather nervous. He picked the gift based on his taste because he was in the dark about Danika’s likes and dislikes. Now, he was worried that she might not like his choice.

She opened the box to find a diamond bracelet lying in it.She was no expert in jewelry, but from the looks of it, the bracelet seemed extraordinarily luxurious and exquisite. She felt sorry for not preparing any gift for Old Mr.Quincey.

“Grandpa, this is too expensive.”

“You’re soon to be Mrs.Quincey, and you are worth all the expensive stuff on earth.”

He would have chosen something other than the diamond bracelet if he could find a better gift.

In his eyes, the diamond bracelet was not the most fitting for a lovely lady like Danika. She was touched by the gift as she covered the box.

“Thank you, Grandpa.I love it.”

“Good.Live happily with Eustace, and hopefully, I’ll soon have grandchildren to play with,” he poked fun at her, but he secretly wished he could make it to that day.

Danika instantly blushed.

Eustace pulled her into a hug and said to Old Mr.Quincey, “Grandpa, don’t worry.I’ll do my best.”

“Eustace Quincey!”

She glared at him playfully.

“You’re so unserious.”

Old Mr.Quincey was happy to see them in love.

After chatting with them in the living room, he went to rest in his bedroom.

Meanwhile, Danika was energized after the long nap.

“Let’s go out for a walk. We’re leaving Parrington tomorrow.”

“Sure.”

Eustace never refused Danika’s requests.

They left the Old Mansion in a car.He asked, “Where are we going?”

She thought hard about any unfinished business in Parrington.

Soon, she had something in mind.

“Let’s visit Lilian and Justin! I wonder how they’re doing. We haven’t been in touch for a while,” she suggested.

Lilian and Justin were orphans she rescued from Clearwater Village.

Their parents perished in an earthquake, so she found the poor kids an adoptive family.

After that, she never visited the siblings, and she had no idea about their lives with their adoptive parents.

She was riddled with guilt, thinking she should have visited them more often.

If they were struggling under the adoptive parents, she would at least notice it right away.

Eustace knew she felt troubled.

He agreed to the idea and drove to the address that he had pulled up.

They Sold You Out

Half an hour later, they arrived at the door of a small villa.

The plan was to observe instead of paying an actual visit because Danika didn’t want to remind the kids of their late parents.

Soon, they saw the door open, and a figure appeared.

Danika immediately recognized Lilian, who went by another name under the new family.

Lilian was dressed in a lovely princess gown. She appeared joyful from the bright smile on her face.

Justin showed up later, and the two played in the garden.

It was an envious and picturesque view.

“You can stop worrying now. They look like they’re living a good life.”

Eustace embraced her.He had the adoptive parents investigated before the adoption. He wouldn’t have allowed them to adopt the children otherwise.

Danika nodded.

“I feel relieved knowing that they’re doing well.”

They watched the children for a while and finally left after the children went into the house.

After that, they wandered through the streets of Parrington.

At the same time, Janet was alone at Zack’s place in Bardoff City because he was still at work.

Therefore, she was puzzled when she heard the doorbell ring.

Did he forget his house keys? She answered the door while nagging, “You’re careless.Did you forget to bring…”

The smile disappeared from her face when she saw a few men standing at the door.
