Stephanie had already moved on.

Holding on to the past was a huge turn-off.

He was Paul Wagner.

He was supposed to be a badass! Melanie saw her chance and nodded quickly.

“Yes.

I want to be with you, even if you don’t love me right now.”

Even if he didn’t love her now, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t love her in the future.

Melanie was confident that as long as Paul gave her a chance, he would fall in love with her.

She wasn’t inferior.

There was no reason for him not to fall in love.

Paul cleared his glass once more and looked at Stephanie through the peripherals of his vision.

Perhaps of her incitement, he nodded.

“Have you agreed?”

Melanie couldn’t believe it.

“Yes.But I don’t love you.You should know that very well.”

Paul was afraid of trouble, so he felt that this had to be made clear from the get-go.

Melanie didn’t care about that at all.

“So that means you’re my boyfriend now, aren’t you?”

We Will Always Be Family

She smiled happily. Eustace and Danika were actually paying attention to what was happening to them. When they saw her smiling so happily, they sensed something had changed.

Then, they saw Melanie cradling Paul’s arm. She said, “Everyone, let me introduce us. This is my boyfriend, Paul Wagner.’ She smiled brightly no.velxo as if she had won a fabulous prize.

Everyone was stunned. Eustace clapped first, to which Danika seconded.” Congratulations.”

It was worth celebrating.

If Paul could hit it off with Melanie, Stephanie no.velxo would no longer be plagued with worries.

Danika looked at Eustace, sensing that he had relaxed tremendously. Maybe he knew it was alright that Paul most likely had agreed to be Melanie’s boyfriend even though he had no feelings for her, as long as he was willing to take that first step. What did it matter if their feelings were genuine or not?

Stephanie looked at them and smiled at Melanie. She even gave her a ” good luck” gesture. She and Melanie chatted sometimes. Although Melanie knew Paul liked Stephanie, she had not shown animosity towards her. Hence, Stephanie felt that she was a good person.

As for Paul, he paled in comparison.

She hoped that Paul would know how to cherish her and refrain from repeating the same mistake.

Leonard was made uncomfortable by the way she kept looking at them. He got her to look at him instead. “What are you looking at? Are you still thinking about your past lover?”

“Oh, what are you talking about? I was looking at Melanie.” Stephanie glared at him. “Past lover” sounded so terrible.

Leonard didn’t let her keep staring at them. “Don’t look anymore. Everyone’s happy to see them together. It’s a good thing for us, too.”

At least Paul wouldn’t keep bothering Stephanie anymore.

Paul had not said anything. He let Melanie hold on to his arm at will and didn’t retort when she introduced him to everyone as her boyfriend. There was no one sassier. Paul was no loser.

So what if Stephanie chose to be with Leonard? Paul was no worse off. He had women who liked him aplenty.

It was merry in the booth. Everyone drank a lot, and when they finally dispersed, the men were basically wasted while the women were still alert.

Danika watched as Stephanie, Jade, no.velxo and the others left. She turned, seeing that Zack and Janet had also gotten into their car. Only Gilbert was left standing.

Gilbert was the only bachelor around tonight.

“I got a cab for you, Gilbert,” Danika said. The others had girlfriends or wives who could drive, but Gilbert was alone. He could only get in a cab.

Gilbert didn’t think much of it. He looked at the drunk Eustace and asked, “Do you need a hand?”

“It’s fine. I can sober him up.” Danika shook her head. It was late, and she didn’t want to bother him.

Gilbert didn’t press it. They all had their own lives to lead.

“Danika.” Gilbert was tipsy, and his eyes were glazed over. “I’m glad to see you happy.”

“Thanks, Gilbert. No matter who I’m with, you will always be my brother. We will always be family,” Danika said.

Gilbert nodded. “Of course. If Eustace ever makes you miserable, let me know, and I’ll beat him to a pulp.”

He was Danika’s strongest family member. He had to protect her.

Danika smiled and nodded. Then, she asked, “Gilbert, both Zack and I have found our partners. What about you? You’re not thinking of staying single forever, are you?”

“Don’t worry. I’m brilliant. I’ll definitely find no.velxo someone that I like.” Gilbert smiled. He didn’t want Danika to worry.

The truth was, he had no intention of getting into a relationship, and he was not interested in any of the women around him. But he didn’t have to let Danika know that.

Are You Helping Me Bathe?

Danika parked the car outside the villa and hauled Eustace out of the car with all her might.

Eustace was truly drunk this time. In fact, he was losing some of his consciousness. However, there was a smile on his lips. no.velxo He knew who was next to him.

“Danika, do you know how happy I am?” He smiled, murmuring.

Danika smiled. “I do.”

Anyone would be able to tell based on what he was like now.

Once she carried him into the room, she threw him on the bed and sighed in relief. “You have to cut down on the drinks in the future. I’ll let this pass tonight, but I won’t care about you in the future.”

It was tiring carrying someone so wasted around.

“Alright. I promise.” Eustace rubbed his forehead, sitting up with great effort.

Danika saw that he wasn’t drunk enough no.velxo to pass out, so she said, “Go shower. It’ll be uncomfortable sleeping in that state.”

“Will you help me?” Eustace asked instinctively.

Danika glared at him. That was her answer.

Eustace smiled bitterly and shook his head. “Then I won’t take a shower. No one would help me if I slipped on the tiles.”

“Can you be a little more appropriate, Eustace?”

Eustace was still pretty alert. Even if he was drunk, he wasn’t as drunk as all that. He didn’t care and lay on the bed once more. “I honestly can’t get up, Danika. I’ll shower tomorrow.”

“Alright. Rest well. I’m going off to rest, too.” Danika didn’t want to no.velxo bother him anymore. She was on the verge of sleep.

When he heard that she was going to leave him, Eustace’s eyes shot open. He waved at her. “Come hug me, Danika.’

Danika didn’t move. “No. You need to sleep.”

Verbally, Eustace just wanted a hug. But who knew what he really wanted to do?

“I just want a hug, Danika. I don’t think that’s much to ask,” Eustace said.

Danika saw that he was serious and didn’t refuse. ‘ Alright, but it’s just a hug. If you play any weird tricks, I’ll be mad.”

Besides Eustace, who was drunk, she was exhausted this time of the night. She had no energy at all to be doing anything else.

Eustace was satisfied to have hugged Danika.

“I love you, Danika.” He hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. The smell of alcohol wafted from behind her.

Something moved Danika’s heart. “Go to sleep. I’ll be here with you.”

“Okay.” Eustace agreed and soon fell asleep. It was as if he slept easier with her by his side.

Danika could tell, based on his breathing, that he was deeply asleep. ‘We will be happy,” she murmured. Then, she closed her eyes and dozed off.

The next morning, Danika awoke and was about to turn over when she felt someone was embracing her. Her mind cleared, and she remembered she was accompanying Eustace to sleep last night.

“Are you awake?” Eustace could feel her trying to move.

Danika murmured in response. ‘What time is it?”

“It’s Sunday. We don’t have to go to work,” Eustace reminded her.

“Oh.” Danika had forgotten.
