After all the events of the day, Eustace was in no mood to cook.
They chose a restaurant that they both liked and sat down.
Eustace then said, “Things have come to an end for them. You don’t have to worry about them anymore.”
“That’s right.I won’t have to anymore.”
She was always worried that Paul would not let it go and come to trouble Stephanie and Leonard.
Now, it seemed that it wouldn’t happen.
That was great. It was time that they both moved on.
Be Careful in the Future
In the following days, Danika went to work as usual.
However, she would check in on Leonard every day.
Although Leonard was not her patient, he was her best friend’s boyfriend. She had to watch out.
If anything happened to him, Stephanie would have her head.
Thankfully, Leonard healed up quickly. He was ready to be discharged in a week.
The day he was discharged, Danika saw him and Stephanie walking together.
Their relationship blossomed during the days of his hospitalization.
They had obviously fallen more in love with each other.
“You can go back to work, Danika.I’ll send him back,” Stephanie said.
Danika nodded and looked at Leonard.
“Be careful in the future. You may not care about your life, but you must consider how others will feel.”
“I know.”
Leonard knew what Danika meant by that, and he had nothing to say in return. He felt that she was right.
Danika only went back to work after she watched them leave.
It was busy in the neurology department.
Danika had already spent some time in Bardoff Hospital, and because of her skill and the fact that none of her surgeries failed, the list of patients waiting to see her grew longer and longer.
All of a sudden, she became a celebrity doctor at Bardoff Hospital.
Many people lined up to see her.
Danika didn’t mind. She would attend to anyone who went to her.
If the line grew longer, she’d just take longer going through them; conversely, if there weren’t a lot of people coming in, she’d get off work early.
It didn’t affect her very much.
However, it affected Eustace greatly.
At eight in the evening, Eustace felt worried when he saw that there were still a few patients in Danika’s office.
Danika’s office hours were getting longer and longer.
If this went on, she’d be burned out.
Hence, once Danika was done with all her patients, he said, “From tomorrow onward, you cannot take on any extra patients.”
Every doctor had a fixed threshold of people they could attend to in a day, but Danika often took pity on the patients and agreed to treat any and every person who came knocking, resulting in longer office hours.
There were numerous outpatients as well, and if she didn’t attend to them, the surgeries would pile up.
It was a long time since they’d had any semblance of a date together.
“These patients are mostly from out of town.If I don’t attend to them now, their treatments will be delayed by another day.Besides their conditions worsening, they will have to pay for another day’s worth of travel expenses.”
Danika looked at him while saying that.
It was because of this that she wanted to attend to them all.
At least that way, she would save some of their time.
Eustace understood what she meant, but he insisted.
“You’re going to collapse one day if you keep this up.Who will attend to them then?”
“But…”
“Listen to me.At most, I’ll bring a few more doctors over,” Eustace said.
He was determined.
Danika considered it for a while and didn’t argue with him.
“Alright. With a few more doctors on board, the patients would at least be attended to by the other doctors.”
They could see her if their conditions were serious. It wouldn’t make much of an impact on things.
Seeing that she was okay with it, Eustace sighed in relief.
“Let’s go, Dr.Zellweger.If not, we won’t make it in time for dinner.”
“Sorry for making you wait so long,” Danika said guiltily.
Eustace shrugged.
“My girlfriend is a doctor, after all.I have no choice but to wait.” Danika smiled, saying nothing.
He Wasn’t Proposing, Was He?
Once she packed up all her things, she followed Eustace out of the hospital, and they drove to the restaurant.
“What are we eating?”
Danika was in a good mood.
After all, she had worked the whole day and attended to a lot of patients. She felt accomplished and satisfied, so much so that she forgot all about the exhaustion in her bones.
Eustace looked at her.
“What do you feel like eating?”
“I’m fine with anything,” Danika said.
“Then you will go wherever I go.”
“Okay.”
Danika had no objections to that. She didn’t notice anything different with Eustace’s gaze.
If she had any inkling of what would happen after, she would not be this calm.
The car arrived at the entrance of the restaurant. It was a place they often came to eat because of the great food and good ambiance.
Danika didn’t think there was anything off about it.She followed him into the restaurant, which was when she realized that it was far too quiet.
“Why is no one here?”
There were always a ton of customers in this restaurant.
“Look at the time.Who else is going to be here beside us?” Eustace asked, avoiding Danika’s gaze.
He was afraid that she would find out.
Danika thought that made sense.
Although she still thought it was weird, she couldn’t think of a plausible explanation at the moment, so she let it go.
Eustace brought her to a table by the window.
The restaurant they were in was located on the thirtieth floor.
They could enjoy the magnificent night view of the city from their altitude.
Danika’s mood lifted even more when she saw the view.
“How pretty.”
“Is it? I don’t think it’s as pretty as you,”
