Filed to story: The Regretful Billionaire: An Unpredicted Reunion

Stephanie wasn’t a child. She could make her own decisions.

As her friend, all Danika thought she needed to do was support her.

“No way.I’ve sworn not to marry before you do.”

Stephanie wouldn’t marry with ease of mind unless Danika married happily.

Danika was at a loss for words. She had no idea when Stephanie had made this vow.

“Oh well.I’ll stop talking about this with Stephanie. We can talk after Leonard is found.”

Right as she thought that, her phone rang.

It was Eustace.

She picked up and exchanged conversation with him, then hung up.

“They’ve found Leonard.”

“Have they? Is he alright? Where is he?”

Stephanie was agitated.

“He’s already on the way back to Bardoff City, but he’s injured. They’ll probably send him straight to the hospital,” Danika replied.

Stephanie paled.

“Injured? Is it serious?”

“Relax.He’ll be fine.”

Danika got up and asked, “Are you coming?”

Stephanie stood up at once.

“Of course.”

They had only just gotten back home, and they were already leaving.

Stephanie’s parents were bewildered.

They had no idea what the girls were doing.

Call It Even

The moment Leonard arrived at Bardoff Hospital, he was sent straight into the operating room.

In the past few days, he had been tortured by that group of kidnappers.

He was injured all over—he was lucky to still be alive.

When Danika and Stephanie rushed to the operating room, Eustace was there too.

Since Paul was also in the hospital, Eustace arrived earlier.

“What’s his situation?” Danika asked worriedly.

She was afraid that something would happen to Leonard.

After all, Stephanie had already decided to marry him.

It would be cruel if anything happened to him now.

Eustace shot her a reassuring look and said, “He’s badly wounded, but they’re not life-threatening.He’ll be alright after a few days’ worth of rest.”

Danika and Stephanie both sighed in relief.

Eustace didn’t let it go just yet.He looked at Stephanie coldly.

“Miss Zelliot, Leonard’s surgery will take a while. Why don’t you visit Paul and apologize to him in the meantime?” Danika said nothing.

She and Eustace were clear about this.

Although they were boyfriend and girlfriend, they would not interfere when their friends had done something wrong.

If Eustace wanted Stephanie to apologize, Danika would not object to it.

‘ Unfortunately, Stephanie didn’t care.

“Apologize? Over my dead body.”

“If you don’t, Paul can press charges against you for assaulting him. You’d better think twice about it,”

Eustace warned.

But they all knew that it wouldn’t happen.

If Paul did that, Danika wouldn’t just sit back and let it happen.I Stephanie hadn’t considered that.

She said, “The harm that he caused me is far more than that stab. And have I made I him apologize to me?”

“He’s apologized before…”

“And what’s the use? Can it make everything he did disappear?”

Stephanie growled. She wasn’t going against Eustace. She was merely stating a fact.

Eustace wanted to say more, but Danika shook her head.

“Fine. If Paul wants to press charges against Stephanie, he can try.”

She would support Stephanie no matter what.

Eustace was exasperated.

How could he let Paul press on the matter when Danika had already said that? On top of that, Paul hadn’t wanted to press charge. He just wanted Stephanie to apologize.

After all, she was in the 1 wrong.

Thank goodness that stab wasn’t life-threatening.

If it were edged in a little deeper, Paul would be a lifeless corpse by now.

Thus, Eustace was upset at Stephanie. She’d nearly killed his best friend.

Stephanie went toward the operating room, ignoring Eustace.

Eustace was upset.

Danika assured him, “This is Stephanie’s fault. But Paul has indeed hurt her a lot before. They can call it even now.”

“Even?” Eustace frowned.

“Yeah.Didn’t Paul want Stephanie to let go of the past? Just tell him that Stephanie is going to let it go.From now onward, they won’t owe anything to each other,” Danika said.

Then, she looked at Stephanie, who was by the operating room’s door.

“Do you object to that?”

“No.It’d be nice to call it even. But only if he never shows up again.”

That would mean that they would be strangers.

Danika nodded and looked at Eustace.

“You can tell Paul what we just said.He should get what it means.”

And he would not press charges against Stephanie for her actions.

I Won’t Scold You

Eustace repeated everything Danika had said to Paul in his ward.

“What do you think? Are you prepared to press charges against Stephanie?”

“Did you even need to ask? If I were to do that, I’d drive a wedge between you and Danika.”

Paul understood this.

Eustace was putting himself in his shoes, and he had to do the same for him.

Besides, he never really wanted Stephanie to take responsibility.

“Calling it even is pretty great.I wouldn’t have to feel guilty anymore.”

Ever since Stephanie left, Paul lived in guilt and regret. He should be happy to be able to call it even.

Eustace was a little worried.
