“Danika, we are one.Your troubles are mine.Your mother is my mother too.You don’t have to thank me.”

“Pfft, you really took the liberty of doing so.”

She rolled her eyes at him.

Only Eustace would claim that Lynette was his mother too.

“I always take the liberty when I’m around you.To me, you’re family.”

He pointed that out because he wanted Danika to realize she hadn’t seen him as one of her own.

While the two were strolling in the backyard, Lynette had chosen her room. She stood on the balcony and gazed at the couple on their walk.

“How’s that guy…Eustace Quincey?” she asked.

Although she claimed she wasn’t in a rush to get to know Danika, the sight of her daughter walking close to another man was concerning to her.

Graham frowned at the difficult question.

“Their relationship is complicated.I’ll tell you more about it, and I need your Opinion too.”

“Sure.” She nodded.

“What do we do now?”

“We rest, of course. You must be exhausted after a few hours on the plane.”

He wanted her to stop worrying and have a good rest.

She was indeed tired, and it wasn’t because of the plane ride. She had been losing sleep, especially after learning that Danika would save her during Eric’s absence, and she worried for her daughter’s safety.

When the dust was settled, exhaustion crept in.

“I’ll take some rest.”

“Alright.” He nodded and left her room.

Who Is That Woman?

After Graham left the room, Lynette was about to take a shower when she remembered she hadn’t brought any clothes—she had left in a hurry, after all.She sighed at the thought.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Graham pushed the door open and said, “By the way, Nettie, there are new clothes in the wardrobe that you can wear for now.We can buy you clothes you like later.”

After so many years, he no longer knew what kind of clothes Lynette liked, so he had someone prepare several different clothes for her to wear for the time being.

But it didn’t matter as they still had plenty of time in the future to figure out what she liked.

After that, Graham left the room, leaving Lynette to explore her wardrobe full of new clothes and dresses.

She was moved.

This was the man she loved.

Even after so many years, he was still as attentive and gentle as before.

Lynette chose a set of pajamas, went to take a shower, and then lay on the bed.

For the first time in many years, she enjoyed a peaceful rest.

While she and Graham rested, Danika was still busy with work.

She had just received a list from Pete.

It was a list of people who had died in Eric’s hands over the years.

Looking at the long list, she thought Eric deserved to die.

It was her first time thinking that way about a person.

She began investigating and getting people to contact the families of those who had died.

She wanted to ensure that Eric would never leave Bardoff City.

Danika did as much investigating as she could while Eric had yet to discover that the Lynette in Bayside City was fake.

Eustace was also helping her.

Working together, there was hardly anything they couldn’t find out.

A week later, Eric returned to Bayside City.

As soon as he got off the plane, he went straight home without any delay. He pushed open the door to Lynette’s room and saw the woman sitting on the balcony.

For a reason unknown to him, he breathed a sigh of relief, relieved that she was still there.

He walked over to her and asked, “Why didn’t you leave with Danika?”

The woman hesitated for a moment when she heard his voice from behind her but quickly regained her composure.

“I have gotten used to it over the years. My life here is fine.”

Her voice and tone were very similar to Lynette’s.Hence, he didn’t suspect a thing.

“Is that so? I thought you would be eager to leave,” he said, attempting to see her face to determine whether she was lying.

Her long hair covered her face, blocking most of Eric’s view, which upset him.

“Look at me!” he ordered.

However, she didn’t turn to him, which made him angry.

He reached out and grabbed her neck, forcing her to look up at him.

Instantly, his eyes widened in disbelief, and he cried out loud, flinging her to the ground.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Lynette,” she answered without hesitation.

Everyone said she was Lynette.

“No! You’re not Lynette!”Eric wasn’t stupid or blind.

Although he and Lynette had had disagreements in recent years, they have lived together for decades. He would know if a different person was pretending to be her.

The woman kept her head down and remained silent.

Furious, Eric stormed out of the room and went to Pete, who hadn’t had a chance to leave yet.

“What is going on? Who is that woman upstairs?”

He grabbed Pete by the neck, the veins of his forehead bulging.

Despite the dire situation, Pete maintained an innocent, clueless expression.

“Father, what are you talking about? Isn’t the woman upstairs Lynette?”

I Don’t Know What You’re Talking About

A loud slap echoed in the room.It threw Pete off his balance, and he fell to the ground.Eric was truly ruthless in his attack, so much so that Pete, a grown man, was left dizzy and disoriented.

“Pete! Where is she?”

Eric was losing his mind.He stared intensely at Pete as if he wouldn’t hesitate to kill him if his answer was unsatisfactory.

Unfortunately, harsh threats didn’t work well on Pete.

Initially, he felt guilty about collaborating with Danika against his father.

However, the slap erased all feelings of guilt. He wondered if Eric truly regarded him as his son.

Given the way he was acting, Pete was probably nothing more than a dog he raised.

Hence, his feelings of guilt completely disappeared.

“I genuinely don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

Despite the blood trickling from his mouth, he spoke sincerely, which made Eric suspicious.

“You don’t know that the woman upstairs isn’t Lynette?” Eric asked.

Feigning shock, Pete answered, “How is that possible? She is obviously Lynette.”

Eric didn’t say anything, nor did he take any further action.

Upon careful consideration, if he hadn’t spent so much time with Lynette, perhaps he wouldn’t have recognized her immediately.
