Just then, he walked out.
“Where’s Paul?”
Danika was bewildered to see only him.
“Don’t bother him.Let him sit with his thoughts,” Eustace said nonchalantly.
“Alright.As long as he doesn’t bother Gilbert anymore.”
Danika didn’t care what Paul thought as long as he left Gilbert alone.
“Don’t worry.He wouldn’t dare.”
With Eustace’s warning, Paul probably wouldn’t repeat the same mistake.
A Couple of Lovebirds
Danika looked at Eustace, who was driving the car.
“Aren’t you going to the company?”
“I am.”
He’d just arrived, and a mountain of work was waiting for him in the office.
However, he wanted to accompany Danika fora while longer, so he was not going there yet.
Danika read his mind and said, “We have lots of time, Eustace.We don’t have to be together all the time.Do you know what I mean?”
If Eustace left his work to see her like this in the future, Danika would start thinking she was affecting him.
“I know.Don’t worry.I’ll handle the things in the company.”
Eustace nodded with a smile.
“I’ll just send you back.”
“Take me to the shopping mall.I invited Stephanie out,” Danika said quickly.
Eustace nodded.
“Okay.”
They drove toward the mall.
Eustace asked, “Is Stephanie with Leonard yet?”
“Probably not.She’d tell me if they were.”
She and Stephanie had contacted each other these few days, and Stephanie hadn’t told her anything about Leonard at all.
Hence, Danika guessed that they were not together yet.
Eustace seemed to sigh in relief when he heard that.
Danika glanced at him and asked, “You don’t think Paul still has a chance, do you?”
“As long as she’s not with other men, of course he does.”
It didn’t matter if they thought it was a small possibility.
What mattered was what Paul thought.
Danika leaned her head against the window.She couldn’t be bothered to say much else.
“Whatever.I don’t think there’s any hope for him.It’s best if he faces reality soon.Besides, isn’t Melanie nice? She’s such a nice girl, yet he doesn’t know how to cherish her,” Danika scoffed.
Eustace didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry.
“You seem to have double standards, Danika.”
Danika didn’t think there was anything wrong with Gilbert not liking Marigold, but she thought that Paul was an ass for not liking Melanie.
“Of course.Paul can’t compare to my brother.”
Danika felt a little guilty, but she admitted it anyway.
Paul wasn’t her friend.
In fact, because of the whole incident with Stephanie, she didn’t like him at all.
Hence, she’d want to help her brother.
Eustace didn’t mean to blame her.He smiled.
“Of course.They can’t compare.”
The car swiftly arrived at the mall entrance.
Stephanie happened to be getting down from a cab, as well.
When she saw them, she ran up to greet them.
“Danika! Mr.Quincey! Congratulations on your win, Mr.Quincey,” Stephanie teased.
Eustace had certainly put a lot of effort into pursuing Danika.
But Stephanie thought that this was all his fault.He didn’t cherish her before.
Eustace thanked her but showed no sign of following them.
“You can go shopping together.Put it on my tab.”
“You’re so generous, Mr.Quincey!”
Stephanie clapped her hands.
Eustace was rich enough to afford to say things like that.
When Eustace was about to leave, Danika said, “Be careful.”
“Alright.Call me when you’re done shopping.I’ll come and fetch you.”
He drove off, quickly disappearing from sight.
Danika didn’t retract her gaze until the car was completely gone from sight.
Stephanie snapped her fingers in front of her face.
“Hello? Earth to Danika.”
Danika came back to her senses and glared at her.
“What are you doing?”
“The honeymoon phase is really something.You two are such a couple of lovebirds,” Stephanie teased.
She suddenly felt the urge to start dating.
They Are Going To Marry
They held hands as they walked into the mall and talked about Danika’s recent events as they shopped.
Once Stephanie learned everything, she said, “Evan really went too far.Did he honestly think he could trap you in there forever?”
As Danika’s long-time friend, she knew that even if Danika couldn’t find an escape plan quickly, she would never give up and spend the rest of her life with Evan.
Danika smiled bitterly.She would probably never understand what went through Evan’s head, but she guessed that with all their years apart, Evan no longer understood her.
“Well, what about you and Eustace? You didn’t agree to be with him just because he saved you, did you?”
Stephanie didn’t think that Danika would be so impulsive.
If she were the type to agree to be ina relationship because of one kind gesture, she would have gotten together with Evan ages ago.
Danika was quiet for a bit before speaking.
‘We probably fulfilled our destinies by being together.If it weren’t for Evan’s scheme, I might have gotten together with him long ago.”
She was already preparing herself to agree to be with Eustace.It was only because of Evan that they had to drag things out.
Stephanie didn’t think there was anything wrong with them being together.She was just fascinated.
“After all those twists and turns, you still ended up together.Is fate really so magical?”
“Perhaps.” Danika wasn’t too sure of it herself.
“But it’s good that you’re with Eustace.You’re taking no losses.”
