“Danika, you asked me to come over because you want to talk to me about Janet, right?”
Danika was startled but then nodded.
“Yes.Did you fight with Gilbert?”
“Yeah. He asked me to break up with Janet, but I couldn’t do it,” Zack said.
After all these years, he’d finally found a girl he liked.
How could he break up with her so easily? “Did you read the information Gilbert gave you?”Danika asked.
Zack replied, “Yes, I did.I know Janet did some wrong things in the past. But who hasn’t committed an error or two in life? I can understand why she did all that.”
See With Your Own Eyes
Hearing what he said, Danika felt a headache coming.
It seemed that Zack didn’t even put the things that Janet had done before into consideration; he even thought they were trivial matters. She was a little baffled and tried to be patient as she said, “Zack, you should know that some things can be forgiven, but some matters are related to a person’s character…”
“Danika, are you also advising me to break up with Janet like Gilbert? “
Zack’s expression became gloomy, no longer showing the affection he had for Danika as before.
Danika’s heart sank—she knew why Gilbert had argued with him.
Zack was too adamant in his decision to remain with Janet, effectively annoying everyone else who could see she was no good for him.
Fortunately, Danika had mentally prepared herself before he arrived, so she was able to suppress her anger and patiently say, “
No, I just wanted to ask you about what happened between you and Gilbert.”
“It’s nothing. It’ll be fine in a few days.”
Hearing that Danika wasn’t advising him to break up with Janet, Zack’s expression improved slightly.
Of course, it was only slightly because, at the mention of Gilbert, he was reminded of their argument.
In fact, after leaving the villa, Zack regretted his actions a bit.He felt that he was too impulsive at that time and should not have said the things he said.
But since he’d already blurted them in the heat of the moment, he was too proud to go back and apologize.
Danika didn’t continue to ask about what went on between her brothers.
“It’s good that there’s no problem.I was just worried about you and Gilbert. You should know that no matter what he says, he genuinely wants the best for you.”
“Danika…”
“I know you’re upset, and you feel he’s coming between your happiness. But think about it, if he weren’t your brother, would he even care about these things?”
They all knew what kind of person Gilbert was.
He never liked to meddle in other people’s affairs.
Zack sighed at Danika’s rhetorical question; of course, he knew Gilbert’s character.
“I know, but I like Janet.I don’t care about her past.”
“You can overlook her past, but you have to be sure that she has truly changed,”
Danika stated.
She looked at Zack, hoping that he would be smart enough to see through deceit if there were any.She hadn’t been in contact with Janet and wouldn’t have much contact with her in the future either.
Zack would have to see for himself whether Janet had truly changed.
Zack didn’t even think about it and nodded affirmatively, saying, “She must have changed her old ways.I believe that she genuinely loves me now.”
“Don’t rely on intuition.See with your own eyes,” Danika reminded him.
“I know.I will pay attention.”
Danika felt that she’d said enough at this point.
If she could make Zack pay attention to Janet’s actions in their everyday life, then she was still somewhat successful in trying to pry open Zack’s willingly shut eyes, even if it was only by a little bit.
The moment Janet was up to something, Zack would definitely notice, and by that time, he would naturally give up on her without anyone else saying anything.
If Janet really did nothing and was honest in her relationship with Zack, Danika wouldn’t continue to come between them even if she didn’t like Janet.
No one could tell whether Janet had really changed for the better for the time being.
There was no point in dwelling on the same topic at this point.
“You should go back now.If you have time, I’ll invite you and Gilbert out for a meal in a few more days.”
Zack pursed his lips as he knew what Danika meant — she wanted him to apologize to Gilbert.
“What if he still insists on breaking me and Janet up?”
In that case, he wouldn’t apologize.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be there.Gilbert won’t do that.”
Danika would make it clear to Gilbert, and she was sure he would be able to understand her.
Hearing Danika say that, Zack inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he said he didn’t care, that wasn’t true at all.
If Gilbert was willing to change his mind, he was certainly willing to apologize.
Sorry for Disturbing Your Sleep
Late at night, there was a knock on Eustace’s door.
Having just finished work and fallen asleep, he was very unhappy with whoever was disturbing his sleep at that hour.
Emitting an aura of hostility, Eustace opened the door but was stunned upon seeing the person at his doorstep.
“Danika?”
Danika leaned against the wall, her body aching all over. She struggled to lift her head and look at Eustace.
“I’m sorry for disturbing your sleep.”
“What’s the matter?”
Eustace immediately noticed something was wrong with Danika and hugged her the next second.
Under the dim light, he saw Danika’s abnormally red cheeks and touched her forehead. He frowned immediately upon feeling her temperature.
“You have a fever?” Danika replied weakly, ‘I probably caught a cold during the day.”
After all, she had gone to see the snow in the morning and had been exposed to the cold wind for quite some time during Max’s confession to Jade in the snow.
Eustace looked worried as he carried her into his room and carefully placed her on the bed.
He immediately brought some hot water for Danika.
“Wipe yourself down and cool off first.”
“Okay.”
Danika nodded and said, “I came over to ask if you have any fever medicine at home.I don’t have any.”
She’d just moved in not long ago and had not prepared for these situations.
Although Zellweger Castle had some, Danika was afraid she would pass out halfway if she drove over to get them.
“I’ll go downstairs to buy some for you,” Eustace said.
He didn’t have any medicine either because he rarely got sick or had a fever, so he had no need for such things.
But after that night, he would probably prepare some at home.
When Eustace was just about to go downstairs to buy the medicine, Danika grabbed his hand.
“Forget it.It’s too late now.The drugstore is probably closed, and it’s too cold outside.”
She didn’t want Eustace to catch a fever as well.
“Don’t worry, and just lie down.I’ll be back soon.”
He was sure that Danika would feel great discomfort in her condition if she didn’t take any medication.
Therefore, Eustace turned around and left after asking Danika to stay put.
For him, buying medicine wasn’t a problem whether the drugstore was open or not.
