The two women fell into silence.
The atmosphere was frigid for a moment, but Danika was quick.

Alfred had nothing to say against her claim, and Melissa let out a relieved sigh.She’d be at a loss if Alfred was truly in love with Danika.
Danika was better in all aspects, and more importantly, she was her boss.

“If you have nothing else to discuss, I’ll leave.”
He stood up without any intent to continue the chat.
Danika didn’t stop him, worried that he might cause more embarrassment.
“He’d better leave now and go back to making money for me,” she thought.
Melissa didn’t want him to leave, but she knew Alfred wouldn’t listen to her.

Danika didn’t know what to say to Melissa.
She went ahead and offered words of comfort, “Straight guys like Alfred know nothing about romance.As long as you don’t give up, you will touch his heart one day.”
Danika believed that persistence was the key to dating a straight guy.
“Okay.Even if you don’t point that out, I do not plan to give up on him.”
After all, Alfred was Melissa’s first crush.
If she gave up on him so soon, it’d be embarrassing when the others learned about it.

To Melissa, the other suspect seemed to be the real culprit.
She had told Alicia about her theory, but she had no idea if Alicia was receptive to it.
If Alicia had listened, she would have gone after Yvonne.
At the mention of Yvonne, Danika could not help but feel impressed by the woman.
Even after receiving Danika’s warning, Brandon Britt insisted on keeping Yvonne by his side.
Danika wondered if Brandon ever worried that she would take revenge on the Britts because of Yvonne.
She decided that she had to pressure the Britts using the power of the Zellwegers.
She refused to make life easy for Yvonne—she had yet to make her pay for putting her in danger by fanning the flames during Randy Glass’ bombing incident.

Much to Danika’s surprise, before she had the chance to pressure the Britts with the Zellwegers’ authority, she ran into Yvonne at the hospital ward.
Yvonne was wearing casts on her limbs and was immobile on the bed.
Only her eyes were staring at the ceiling.
“Is this karma?”
Danika stood by Yvonne’s bed.She was randomly checking the names of the warded patients when she came across Yvonne’s name.

When she arrived at the room, she found out that the patient was indeed Yvonne Dickman.
