Danika thought it was perfectly reasonable, and she was in awe. She was not gifted in that aspect at all. All that she had thought of was simply paying the bill herself. She had not even considered starting a charity.
However, she had her worries. “Is that really feasible? Will the investors stop pouring money into it?’
She wanted something that would work in the long run, not just something that would exist to help a small number of people.
“Don’t worry. The funds will never decrease. There will be people in charge of that.
The initial money invested in it will be used for further investments. The interest alone would be enough to pay for the charity’s daily expenses.”
Their main target would be impoverished families that desperately needed surgery. Certain criteria would need to be met. It wouldn’t be for everyone.
Maybe because Danika still looked worried, Eustace used the Nobel Prize as an example, and she understood clearly.
“Why don’t the Quinceys and Zellwegers establish it together? This way, the pool of funds will be greater, and we’ll be able to help even more people.” After some thought, the Zellwegers could join in too. It was her problem, anyway, and she was grateful to Eustace for being so willing to help. She couldn’t let him work alone.
Eustace was naturally willing to collaborate with her. “Of course. However, you must think about how this will come across to the outside world.”
“What do you mean?” Danika wasn’t too sure what he was saying.
“If the Quinceys and the Zellwegers collaborate, people are going to think that our families want to team up.” There would even be people who might think they would marry.
However, Eustace and Danika had a history. On top of that, Luke would sometimes appear next to her side. It would easily cause a misunderstanding.
Danika thought it was possible, but she didn’t really mind. “Do you think that the Quinceys won’t agree to it?”
“Not necessarily. The question is if you intend to work together with us. If you do, it would be no problem. But if you don’t, it’s best if the Zellwegers stay out of it.” Otherwise, Danika would find herself in a difficult position.
Team up with the Quinceys?
Danika hadn’t really considered it before. She wasn’t in charge of the company. She didn’t know whether teaming up would be a good decision.

Suddenly, she asked, “How long do you think it will take for you to take over the Quinceys?”
She was concerned about teaming up with the Quinceys because Zeke was still in power. If it were Eustace, she would be much more at ease. “I will speed up the process.” Eustace couldn’t give her a specific time. Convincing Zeke to entrust the Quinceys to him was no easy feat.
“I believe you.” No matter how much their relationship changed, she believed in his character. At the very least, he wouldn’t hurt her on purpose. Eustace smiled and leaned forward. “Are you going to believe me just like that? Aren’t you afraid of me teaming up with Zeke to sabotage you?”
“Will you?” she asked.
“No,” he said with no hesitation. He could sabotage everyone in the world, but he would never do anything to hurt Danika.
Danika smiled, too. “What do I have to fear, then?”
“Alright. Tell the Zellwegers about this. I’ll get someone to be in touch with them soon,” Eustace said.
Danika nodded but grew worried again. “Can it be done as quickly as possible? I’m afraid of her condition worsening.”
Danika was talking about that little girl’s mother.
“I’ll urge them.” Eustace nodded, promising.
Danika sighed in relief as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She smiled. “Thank you.”
“You don’t have to be so polite around me.” Eustace felt happy seeing her smile. He thought that nothing in this world could make him happier.
Danika couldn’t bear the heat from his gaze and hurriedly changed the topic. “You said that the Watkins have suddenly interfered. Do you think that Blake started it?”
Blake seemed to have disappeared after breaking up with Eustace. But Danika knew a conniving woman like her would not let it go so easily. She would have other tricks up her sleeve.

“I’m not sure, but it’s a possibility.” Eustace had the same musings as Danika. He didn’t think that Blake was the type to let things go. The incident was quite possibly a pointed attack on him.
Danika raised an eyebrow. With a hint of sarcasm, she said, “It’s all a certain someone’s fault for breaking her heart and making her angry.”
“Don’t blame me, Danika.” Eustace waved his hands, not wanting to admit to being a heartbreaker. “I lost my memories. Most importantly, even when I had amnesia, I had no intention of getting together with her. She initiated our working together. I had no other intentions with her.” Eustace felt that he had to make it clear in case he left a bad taste in Danika’s mouth.
Danika murmured in response. She didn’t know if she believed it or not.
Eustace wanted to elaborate, but Danika quickly said, “I know. You don’t have to explain so many things to me.”
“That won’t do. I don’t have to explain anything to other people, but I have to when it’s you. You have to know that I only ever had you in my mind. Even when I lost my memories and didn’t remember my feelings for you, I didn’t think to get together with someone else,” Eustace said very seriously.
Danika could tell that he wasn’t joking. She had to admit that she was moved. However, she would not agree to get together with him so easily this time. She had to test him. She couldn’t let him think that she was easy to get.
She lowered her head and sipped her coffee. “Alright.”
“Is that all?” Eustace was obviously disappointed. He thought that Danika would be moved by his words of sincerity. However, he did not want to give up. Instead, he thought that Danika felt she couldn’t trust him after all his wrongdoings.
They sat in the coffee shop the whole afternoon. Besides some things Eustace said that gave Danika goosebumps, it was a pleasant time.
On the opposite street outside the coffee shop, Evan sat in his car for as long as they were inside.
He couldn’t understand what Eustace possessed that would make Danika give him so many chances. He had done so many bad things. Even if she didn’t hate him, she shouldn’t give him so many chances.
But now? He watched as they chatted merrily, feeling his hope disappear.
What could he do to make her fall in love with him?
That was what occupied Evan’s thoughts. However, he had not thought of a way, which frustrated him. Sometimes he wished he could kill Eustace so that he would no longer have a rival. But he knew that it was a hard task. Besides, if he were to kill Eustace, and if Danika were to find out, she would never fall in love with him. She would even hate him. That was why Evan didn’t dare to kill him. He couldn’t take that risk.
But when he saw how close they sat, it burned his eyes.
He took his phone out and called Gilbert. “Think of a way to get Danika over.”
“What?” Gilbert was bewildered.
“Danika and Eustace are together,” Evan said.
Gilbert understood what he meant and was speechless. “That can’t be, Evan. Do you need help even with this? Who’s the one pursuing her here?”
He wanted to pursue her too. However, he had long given up on the notion. He shouldn’t be thinking about it, either.

“Well, you’ll have to take care of things. If you don’t think of a way to take her away, they’ll only grow closer. Is that what you want?” Evan was sure Gilbert didn’t want to see that happening.
Gilbert was exasperated. He had no choice but to agree. “Alright. But you have to do it yourself next time.”
Danika wasn’t stupid. If they did it over and over, she’d figure it out.
They had just managed to repair their relationship. Gilbert didn’t want to upset her again.
Evan didn’t care about what he said. He hung up. He’d figure it out if it happened again. Gilbert was in the same boat, anyway. Flying solo wasn’t as easy as all that.
In the coffee shop, Danika received a call from Gilbert. She learned that Zack had just arrived in Bardoff City. Naturally, she would be anxious to meet him. Eustace’s suggestion to have dinner together was brushed off just like that.
“I’m sorry. I have to go.” Danika looked at Eustace apologetically. After all, he’d helped her solve a problem, and she was leaving before she even got to treat him to something. She felt guilty.
Eustace felt bitter about it, but he couldn’t let it show. “Is Zack here?”
“Yeah. Gilbert told me that Zack is also preparing to expand his company in Bardoff City. I didn’t think that he’d come today.” Danika was happy. The three of them had not eaten together in a long time.
Eustace forced a smile. “I’ll send you over, then.”
“That’s okay. I’ll get a cab.” Danika was already feeling guilty. She didn’t want to inconvenience him.
Eustace didn’t think it was a hassle at all. He had already gotten up. “Let’s go. It’s dangerous to get a cab now. I’ll send you over. It won’t take up my time at all.”
“I…” Danika wanted to say more, but Eustace didn’t give her the chance to. He held her hand and pulled her out of the coffee shop, ushering her to his car.
Not far off, Evan witnessed everything. When he saw that Danika wanted to leave, he felt better. But now, Eustace was holding her hand. The worst part of it all was that Danika had not refused.
Evan thought that this was going badly. He was miles behind Eustace. He had to think of a way to get ahead, fast.
Eustace sent Danika to Gilbert’s villa. He didn’t ask to go in.
“Take care and be happy.” Eustace waved at her.
Danika nodded. But for some reason, she felt unhappy. She somehow thought that Eustace looked pitiful. She hesitated before asking, “Why don’t we…go in together?”
“Alright.” Eustace instantly perked up.
Danika was stunned. She suddenly remembered that Gilbert was treating everyone today. Bringing a plus one probably wasn’t a nice thing to do.
As if reading her mind, Eustace said, “Why don’t you ask them beforehand? I won’t interfere if it’s just the three of you.”
He was worried that Evan would be there, too. He knew Gilbert would support Evan and couldn’t let them scheme together.
Although he knew that Danika had no intentions with Evan, he had to be careful. They shared some history with each other, after all. And Danika had even confessed to Evan before.
“Alright.” Danika did not go in. She called Gilbert at the entrance of the villa, wanting to give Eustace a response.

Before Danika’s call got through, Evan’s car arrived at the entrance. Seeing this, Danika understood.
