Filed to story: The Regretful Billionaire: An Unpredicted Reunion

“What am I doing? I’m going to find my brother.”

Jonathan was her only relative, and now he was gone. When she found out that Danika had saved her, she realized that the person she thought was her enemy was actually her benefactor. Instantly, her resentment disappeared, and she suddenly felt like life wasn’t worth living.

Danika didn’t expect her to react in such a manner. Although she was annoyed, Danika tried to calm her down.

“Calm down, Alicia. You’re still young. There are so many possibilities waiting for you to explore in the future.’

At this point, the hospital had already called the police, so ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks were on their way. However, Alicia seemed determined to die. She stood on the edge of the rooftop. If she took another step, she would be gone from the world.

Terrified, Danika tried to comfort her, saying, ‘Alicia, don’t act impulsively. Think about your brother. He gave his life to save you. If you die like this, how can you face him?”

Her words seemed to work. Stunned, Alilcia didn’t take another step further. Danika walked toward her slowly as she spoke, “If you die like this, how can you meet your brother? The life you’re living now is all thanks to him. How can you be so irresponsible?”

Alicia gritted her teeth, “Shut up! My brother wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for you.”

“If you hate me that much, seek revenge for your brother. What’s the point of committing suicide?” At this point, Danika would rather Alicia hate her because only hatred could give her the will to live.

Gritting her teeth and glaring at Danika, she said, “If you wanted me to seek revenge, you shouldn’t have told me everything. You saved my life. How can I hate you? How can I find someone to kill you?”

On the Brink of Death

Although Alicia didn’t say it, Danika could guess what she was thinking.

“I only told you because I didn’t want others taking advantage of you. You can still seek revenge on me. After all, Jonathan’s death was related to me. H

Although she didn’t think she was wrong, she knew it was logical for Alicia to hate her.

Alicia began to waver, and it seemed she didn’t truly want to kill herself. Noticing that,

Danika continued, “Think about your brother. He sacrificed so much to save you. Do you really have the heart to let him die in vain?’

Alicia gritted her teeth. Of course, she didn’t want her brother’s sacrifice to be in vain. But she knew clearly that she couldn’t kill Danika. It would be difficult for her to even meet Danika as they were from entirely different worlds.

Danika didn’t care about what she was thinking. When Alicia hesitated, she slowly moved closer to her and grabbed her when she was distracted.

Perhaps it frightened Alicia because she fell off the roof instead of toward Danika. It caught Danika by surprise. Fortunately, she reacted in time, grabbing Alicia’s ankle with one hand and holding onto the edge of the rooftop tightly with the other.

It was also fortunate that she had some combat training and was not weak.

Otherwise, she might not have been able to hold onto Alicia.

At the brink of death, Alicia began trembling. “Don’t let go! I don’t want to die yet.”

Danika was exasperated. She wondered to herself why Alicia made such a scene if she didn’t want to die. Nonetheless, she was too afraid to speak for fear that she might end up letting go of Alicia.

All Danika could do was pray that the rescue team would arrive soon. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to hold on to Alicia.

Just then, Danika heard footsteps. She didn’t know who it was, but she cried, “Hurry! Pull me up.*

As soon as she said that, someone grabbed her hand and then pulled her and Alicia up. It was then that Danika discovered the person was Eustace.

“Thank you,’ she said, unsure how to feel about the situation.

“You are too impulsive! What if you didn’t catch her? Do you really want to die with her?” Eustace scolded her. He didn’t know why he was so angry.

As soon as he heard that Danika was on the rooftop, he rushed over immediately.

Fortunately, he arrived in time, or the unthinkable might have happened.

Danika looked at Alicia, whose legs were trembling. It seemed that she was facing difficulty standing up

I’m Not Interested in Him

While the two were talking, Eustace didn’t leave and continued trailing behind Danika. Only after confirming that she was fine did his heart finally stop pounding in his chest. Seeing that he had not left yet, Danika was a little puzzled. “Is there anything else, Mr. Quincey?”

“No.” Eustace shook his head, but his gaze was fixed on Evan. He seemed to be very curious about him, or more precisely, he was curious about Evan’s relationship with Danika.

As if knowing what he was thinking, Evan extended his hand to him.

“Hello, Mr. Quincey. I am Evan Clarke, Danika’s family.”

The word “family” could be interpreted in many ways. It could mean anything from siblings to relatives and even someone’s husband.

Although his expression shifted, his face didn’t betray his emotions.

“Hello.”

After the two men exchanged pleasantries, Eustace was ready to leave since he had nothing left to do.

“By the way, Mr. Quincey.” Danika stopped him. “About the surgery you mentioned earlier, if it’s urgent, you can bring me the information tomorrow for me to look at first.”

“It’s not urgent. Your injury-“

“I’m fine. It won’t affect the surgery,” Danika said.

Eustace wanted her to rest for a few more days, not because he was worried about the surgery being affected. However, he didn’t correct Danika’s misunderstanding of his intentions.

“Alright, I’ll send you the information tomorrow.”

As Eustace left. Evan watched his retreating figure, his gaze a tiny bit hostile. He could tell that something was going on with Eustace. “Are you going to perform surgery on him?” Evan asked.

Danika nodded, oblivious to the strange look in Evan’s eyes.

“He needs to undergo craniotomy surgery because of the cerebral hemorrhage caused by the trauma of the impact.”

“Of all the doctors in Bardoff City, he just had to look for you,” Evan sneered, thinking to himself that it wasn’t just about the surgery.

Danika glanced at him, saying, “He approached my mentor first, and my mentor referred him to me.”

“Oh, I see.” Evan’s reply seemed a little stiff and unnatural. “I was just asking.”

“Is that so? Why do you seem very interested in him?” Danika watched him, not believing he was just asking a casual question.

Evan scratched his nose and laughed dryly. “I’m not interested in him.”

Danika didn’t ask more. Instead, she said, “Let’s go home.”

“Alright.” Evan did not dwell on the topic, but he believed that Danika understood what he meant.

Before they left the hospital, Danika went to ensure that Alicia was okay. After that, she followed Evan out of the hospital.

By the time they arrived at Zellweger Castle, Graham had been waiting for some time. It was his first time meeting Evan. Facing his future father-in- law, Evan put on his best behavior.

Although Graham couldn’t figure out the relationship between Evan and his daughter, he supported Evan and was friendly to him because he seemed like a good person.

To no one’s surprise, Evan stayed for dinner. Danika didn’t pay any attention and returned to her room to freshen up before returning to the living room.

Meanwhile, Rowena was also in the living room, looking defeated and dispirited.

Perhaps it was because the Glasses had gone bankrupt. Her family had been her greatest backing. Now they were gone, and the Zellweger family had turned their backs on her. Despair was beginning to overcome her.

Nonetheless, her pitiful state did not garner Danika’s pity.

Smiling, Danika greeted her. Her unexpected action caused Rowena to break out in cold sweat when she saw Danika grinning at her.

How Are You Feeling Now

Gulping, Rowena put on a smile and asked, “What is it? Is there anything I can help you with, Danika?” “Not really. I just wanted to know how you are feeling now that the

Glasses are bankrupt,’ she said, deliberately provoking her. Graham, who was in the room, didn’t seem to care and ignored the conversation.

Rowena understood it all too well. Graham had always been on Danika’s side.

“It’s their own fault that they are in this state. Although I am sad, I won’t help them.”

There was nothing Rowena could do except cling to the Zellwegers. If she didn’t, she would have nothing left.

“Listen to yourself. Haven’t you been helping the Glasses?” Danika sneered at her.

Rowena’s heart began to pound, and she began to feel uneasy. “Danika, what do you mean? I have never helped the Glasses. I know I have asked your father to spare them before, but that was all I did.”

Although she worried that Danika might know everything, she thought it was unlikely.

“Is that so?” Unfazed by her denial, Danika handed the information she had gathered to Graham. “Dad, take a look.”

Danika believed her father didn’t know any of this, or he wouldn’t have tolerated Rowena for so long.

She was right. After Graham digested the information, his face fell instantly. “Is all of this true?”

“Absolutely.” Danika nodded. Although she hated Rowena, she wouldn’t make up false information. In addition, Rowena had done many things, so she didn’t need to make up stories.

Flinging the information at Rowena, Graham rose, pointing at her and shaking all over.

Danika hurried up to comfort him, saying, “Please calm down. It’s not worth it getting all worked up and angry over someone like her.”

Although he calmed down a little, Graham was still furious.

Rowena looked at the information Graham had flung at her and shivered as she paged through them. The first thing she saw was a photo of her and Graham’s first cousin, once removed, entering and leaving a hotel together. She continued to flip through the pages and found her chat records with him.
