The next moment, he turned his gaze toward the unconscious young man in the corner.
Without hesitation, he walked over and kicked the guy a few times to vent some of his anger.
Danika didn’t take Stephanie too far.
She booked a room in the hotel for her to rest.
After she had settled everything, Danika finally had time to call Graham and briefly explain the situation.
Her tone was icy as she said, “If this matter gets out, you should know very well the impact it will have on our family.”
“I know what you mean.Don’t worry, I will handle it,” Graham replied, his tone quite frigid.
He was definitely burning with anger at the moment.
He couldn’t believe someone had the audacity to cause trouble on such an occasion; it could only mean they didn’t take the Zellwegers seriously.
Upon investigation, the young man was from a wealthy but inferior family.
To do such a thing right under the Zellwegers’ noses, he clearly didn’t know his place.
Danika didn’t ask Graham how he planned to handle it, but she was sure that the young man probably wouldn’t have a chance to show up in Bardoff City again.
Looking at Stephanie, who had already fallen asleep, Danika felt somewhat worried.
She took out her phone and called the hotel staff, asking them to send over a doctor.
Soon, the doctor arrived, but he was not alone, as Eustace was with him.
Danika was puzzled.
“What are you doing here?”
‘what happened? Why did you call a doctor?”
Panic could be heard in the tone of his voice, even if he wasn’t aware of it.
But Danika noticed it, and she felt that it was suspicious.
Eustace’s behavior was contrary to what he had told her previously.
Danika wondered if he perhaps suffered from a split personality disorder.
Ignoring Eustace, Danika led the doctor inside and had him examine Stephanie.
After confirming that she was just unconscious and would wake up soon, she let the doctor leave, feeling relieved.
“Mr.Quincey, as you can see, I’m fine.It was my friend who needed medical attention,”
Danika stated, staring intently at Eustace.
Eustace saw Stephanie, but unfortunately, he didn’t recognize her due to his amnesia.
Even if he had investigated his and Danika’s past, he wouldn’t be able to find out who Danika’s friends were.
He nodded indifferently.
“It’s good that you’re okay.”
“No, I’m not good. Not good at all.”
Danika looked at him solemnly.
“Steph is my friend. If she’s in trouble, it means I’m in trouble.I don’t feel good about this whole thing at the moment.”
“Oh, you guys are that close?”
Eustace felt skeptical that friends could be this close to each other.
He remembered that he had a friend, Paul.
Nonetheless, due to his amnesia, he didn’t feel much of a connection with Paul when he saw him.
The feeling of having a deep kinship with Paul was practically nonexistent.
Hearing this, Danika looked at Eustace with an increasingly bewildered expression.
“Our relationship has always been good. It’s not like you just found out about it today.”
She kept staring at Eustace, not missing his slightly dazed expression.
“Something’s not right! Something is definitely not right!” Danika exclaimed in her heart.
So Effective?
“Do you not know Steph?” Danika asked in disbelief.
Even she couldn’t believe what she was saying, but Eustace’s response suggested that he had no idea who Stephanie was.He quickly regained his composure and sneered, “Who is she? Why would I waste my time to get to know her?”
“Eustace, what’s wrong with you? Steph is my best friend. You’ve met her before; you know her.Why are you reacting like this now?”
It seemed as if he’d never met Stephanie, and Danika couldn’t understand how the situation came to this.
Danika’s words made Eustace realize that despite his investigation and reading up on information related to them, there were still many missing pieces.
Stephanie was a good example right now.She had no connection with him, but they knew each other because of Danika, and they had met before.
However, he had no memory of this person.
Not wanting Danika to know about his amnesia, he tried to cover it up by saying disdainfully, “So what if I know her? Since I’m not interested in her.Why would I waste my time on her?”
He didn’t deny that he knew Stephanie, as it wasn’t something he could deny.He put up a front to show that he wasn’t interested in her and didn’t care about her affairs.
Danika frowned, feeling something was off, but she couldn’t put her finger on it right then.
Taking a deep breath, she temporarily suppressed her doubts and asked him, “If you’re not interested in her, why are you here? Could it be you’re here because you care about me?”
“Of course not.”
Eustace denied without hesitation, but after denying it, he was puzzled.
Why did he come? He had heard the receptionist talking on the phone and learned that Danika had called a doctor, so he followed along.
But why? He didn’t like Danika, so whether she had an accident or not had nothing to do with him.
Danika looked at Eustace suspiciously, as his reaction was too abnormal.
“Are you sure your psychological issues are really resolved?”
“Of course.”
Eustace nodded and said, Speaking of which, I have to thank you.I have to say, the psychologist you introduced to me is very effective.”
Danika herself wouldn’t have expected that the psychologist she introduced to Eustace was Blake.
That day, Blake called him coincidentally, which led to him being rescued in time.
Speaking of which, he should actually thank Danika.
“Is it really that effective?”
Danika couldn’t help but feel uneasy about Eustace’s current state.
“Well, you can kind of say that I came because I was worried about you. After all, we are business partners now.If something happened to you, wouldn’t the information I give you about the Glasses be wasted?”
Eustace changed the topic and didn’t continue discussing his psychological issues.
Hearing Eustace’s words, Danika felt a mix of emotions.
She felt a little unhappy about what he said, but at the same time, she kind of expected it.
She and Eustace were indeed merely business partners, and that was their only connection.
Without waiting for her to speak, Eustace spoke up again, “Also, stay away from the rest of the Quinceys.
Do you really think Julian is as innocent as he looks?”
Thinking back to how Danika and Julian were chatting and laughing merrily earlier, Eustace didn’t feel too thrilled.
Danika hesitated for a moment, then realized that Eustace had probably seen her talking to Julian.
“Don’t worry, Mr.Quincey.I won’t promise you one thing and do something else behind your back.Since I promised to work with you, I won’t collaborate with any other members of the Quincey family.” She thought Eustace was worried that she would betray him, but this concern was unnecessary.
On top of that, Eustace was being a bit unreasonable, considering that she was mostly helping him despite chatting with Julian.
If it hadn’t been for his sake, why would she bother suggesting to Julian that he should help Eustace in the first place? She didn’t plan to tell Eustace about it—he wouldn’t believe her anyway.
Shameless
