Any pretense was futile and unnecessary in front of someone as intelligent as Danika.
‘You could have sent someone to Parrington to find out everything about him and me.Why waste your energy here today? * Danika didn’t think it was necessary.
Julian disagreed.
He looked at Eustace and Blake, who were not far away and sneered, “Of course I’ve sent someone to investigate, but it’s precisely because I looked into it that I find him very strange.He was clearly so fond of you before, but as soon as he returned to the Quincey family, he was eager to distance himself from you.Isn’t that strange?”
Danika felt a pang in her heart, but she concealed it well and asked, “Is it strange? “I’m curious, Mr.Quincey.Many other Quinceys returned this time.Out of all of them, why did you choose to pay attention to Eustace? Could it be that you really think he can take the Quincey family away from you? Are you that lacking in confidence?”
She was genuinely curious, so she casually asked Julian about it.By doing this, she might be able to get an answer to issues she’d been wondering about.
Becoming the Heir
The question seemed to weigh heavily on Julian.
Danika stared at him in silence for a while before he slowly spoke up, “That’s not exactly the case.”
Then, he continued, “Although Grandpa has summoned many members of the Quincey family back from everywhere, the biggest threat among them is Eustace.After all, someone could easily obtain information about his abilities the moment they looked into it.Grandpa has praised him immensely.He has just returned to the Quincey family but has secured himself a position in Quincey Group.No one else was given this much recognition.”
Julian himself had only recently joined the company.
On the other hand, Eustace had only been back for a short time, but he’d become a part of Quincey Group.
It was obvious that Zeke valued Eustace a lot, naturally making the rest of them nervous.
As an outsider, Danika could see through Zeke’s intentions at a glance.
He purposely directed the attention of his sons and grandsons toward Eustace, as he believed that Eustace would be a good challenge to make them grow and improve.
Zeke was ruthless; he didn’t consider whether Eustace could handle the onslaught.
“Even so, Eustace shouldn’t pose such a big threat to you guys.”
After all, Julian and the others were the ones who held actual power within the Quinceys, which was completely different from Eustace’s situation.
Zeke seemed to hold high expectations for Eustace by allowing him to join Quincey Group.However, Danika wasn’t sure if Eustace had any real power in the family.It was possible that he might not even be able to order the staff around.
Julian nodded and whispered beside Danika, “Actually, I don’t really care about it.It’s mainly because my cousin, Luke, seems very wary of Eustace.That’s why I started to become concerned too.After all, Luke’s much smarter than me.”
Luke, the Quincey family’s eldest grandson, had the best chance of inheriting the family.
Most importantly, he was Xavier’s son.
“However, now I think Luke might be right.Look, it’s only been a few days, and he has already struck up a connection with the Watkins.That’s enough to show how capable he is.”
Julian’s face turned grim.
Danika reached out and patted his head.
“You’re young, but you try to look mature beyond your years.How unattractive.”
“How dare you pat me.” Julian touched his head, furious.

Julian was just an immature child who hadn’t fully grown up, despite his efforts to appear sophisticated and mature.
“You…just wait.I’m going to tell my sister on you,” Julian said, getting up as if to report the incident to his sister.
Danika looked at him with a faint smile, not the least bit flustered.
The way she looked at Julian made him feel a little embarrassed.
“Forget it.I can’t be bothered to deal with you.”
“Are you interested in inheriting the family business?” Danika asked suddenly.
Julian shook his head.
“No, I like painting.My dream is to become an artist.”
“Then why bother competing with them? Just be yourself and do what you want.”
Danika looked into his eyes, speaking from her heart.She wouldn’t be bothered to take over the Zellweger family if any other Zellweger could inherit it.However, it was fine for her.
Even if she eventually inherited the Zellweger family business, she didn’t need to watch over it every day.She could still do what she liked, but she had to endure it for now.
Danika’s words made Julian fall silent, and he sat beside her.
“It’s not that easy.Being born as a Quincey means we’re destined to compete with each other.If I don’t fight for my place and Uncle Xavier ends up inheriting everything in the end, my family and I will suffer miserably.” Julian wasn’t foolish.
If he wanted to survive in the Quincey family, he had to compete.He had understood it since he was born.
You Want Me to Support Him?
Listening to what Julian said, Danika thought about the oppressive atmosphere in the Quincey family.It was no wonder Julian would have such thoughts.
She pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, “Since you’re not interested in inheriting the Quincey family and your only goal is to prevent Xavier from inheriting everything, why not consider supporting Eustace? If he inherits the Quincey family business and assets, it won’t affect you, right?”
Julian looked at her in shock.He blinked a few times, unable to believe what he’d just heard.
“You want me to support him?”Danika nodded.
“Have you really divorced Eustace? It sure doesn’t seem like it.”
Julian looked at Danika suspiciously.If they were divorced, Danika shouldn’t be helping Eustace.
Danika was speechless and rolled her eyes at him.
“What’s wrong with my suggestion? You’re not interested in inheriting the Quincey family anyway.”
“Although I’m not interested, that doesn’t mean my dad or sister isn’t.If they find out that I intend to support Eustace, they’ll kill me,” Julian said, knowing full well not everyone in his family thought the same as him.
The Quinceys were such an affluent family.
Who wouldn’t be tempted by the riches and power that came with it? Even if Julian was naive, he knew it would be best for him if his father or sister inherited the family.
Realizing that she couldn’t persuade Julian to help Eustace, Danika felt it was a little regrettable.She thought Julian looked naive and easy to sway, but he wasn’t a total airhead.
Following that, Danika fell silent and didn’t utter another word.
“Seriously? You’re not going to talk to me anymore just because I won’t help Eustace?” Julian asked upon noticing her dismissive look that she made no attempt to hide.
Danika raised her head to look at him.
“Eustace and I aren’t related in any way.The proposal just now was out of consideration for you.Since you’ve made up your mind on what to do, I naturally have nothing more to say.”
“Out of consideration for me?”
Julian thought very skeptically.
They weren’t exactly on such close terms yet.
Just as he was about to say something to Danika, Isabelle Quincey walked toward them.
“What are you talking about with Miss Zellweger, Julian?”
“Isabelle,” Julian greeted as he stood up.
He showed his sister much respect.
“We didn’t talk about much.It was just a few casual exchanges.”
Isabelle nodded and looked at Danika while extending her hand.
“Hello, Miss Zellweger.I’m Isabelle Quincey.”
“Hello.”
Danika stood up and shook her hand.
Although Danika didn’t want to have too much contact with the Quincey family, Isabelle was nothing but courteous.
