“What’s done is done.So be it,” he thought.
Now that he was cured, he wouldn’t do such a thing again.
“So, you no longer have any feelings for me now?” Danika asked, still hoping for a different answer.
Eustace nodded without hesitation.
“No, I don’t.”
“I don’t understand. What made you change overnight?” Danika asked in disbelief.
Was everything before just an act? But why would Eustace bother to put on an act at that time? Eustace knew that Danika might continue to pester him if he didn’t dispel her doubts.
He asked, “I had serious mental problems before.Did you know that?”
“Yes.leven recommended a psychologist to you.”
Danika nodded, not understanding why he brought that up suddenly.
“She recommended a psychologist to me?”
Eustace wondered silently; he had no impression of that at all.
He further pondered if she was the one who introduced Blake to him.
But even if that were the case, it didn’t matter to him.
“The thing is—I’m completely fine now.All my previous actions were caused by mental problems, which caused me to be obsessed with you.But now that I’m no longer in that state, I won’t follow you around anymore.Do you understand?”
Eustace felt he’d laid it all out as clearly as possible.
Danika was so surprised that she forgot to close her mouth, which had gaped open in shock. It was really too shocking.
She’d thought of many reasons, but it never occurred to her that it would be that particular reason.
“Are you sure…that mental problems can have such a big impact?”
She still found it hard to believe.
Eustace knew what she was thinking and was quick to respond.
“If not for this, how do you explain why I don’t have any feelings for you now?”
“No feelings at all, huh?”
Danika sighed inwardly. She smiled bitterly, as she couldn’t come up with an explanation either.
Maybe Eustace was right. She had sensed that something was wrong with him before.
However…
Did he really lose all his feelings for her once he became normal again? It seemed too surreal.
“How did you come to this conclusion?”
Danika wanted to ask more questions.
After all, if she didn’t clarify this matter, she would probably feel troubled until she got to the bottom of it.
Eustace glanced at her and replied, “A psychotherapist suggested it.”
“Is that so?” Danika thought to herself and didn’t know what else to say.
Perhaps that was the truth.
She sighed and seemed resigned.”Okay.Since that’s the case, I won’t bother you in the future.”
“That won’t do.”
It was Eustace who spoke up this time.
Feeling surprised, Danika turned to look at Eustace.
He continued, “Didn’t you say you would represent the Zellwegers to collaborate with me? Was that just a lie?”
He suddenly emanated a dangerous aura.
Danika had never seen Eustace like this before.
She had no doubt that he would flip the table if she nodded.
“Of course…not.”
Danika forced a dry laugh.
“But then, you just returned to the Quinceys. Can you represent them in this situation?”
Danika was doubtful whether Eustace had indeed secured the trust of the Quinceys in such a short span of time.
My Business
“You’re not collaborating with the Quinceys; you’re cooperating with me.” Eustace felt there was a difference between the two.
After all, the Quinceys didn’t belong to him yet.
Danika raised her eyebrows in response, unsurprised by his reply.
“Do you think you have what it takes to strike up a deal with the Zellwegers?”
In her opinion, Eustace wasn’t qualified enough to bargain for a collaboration with the Zellwegers.
“You can consider it a kind of investment. After I take over the Quinceys, our families will naturally be able to collaborate better.”
Upon hearing Danika’s words, Eustace wasn’t offended.
He knew he wasn’t qualified to work with the Zellweger family yet, but by the time he could be on equal footing with them, he might not necessarily want to associate with them either.
Danika fell silent.
Looking at Eustace, who was right before her, she wondered where he got his confidence.
“Are you so certain that you’ll be the one to take over the Quinceys? Have you considered the possibility that no matter how well you do, the family head still won’t hand it over to you?”
Danika and Zeke Quincey had only met once, but that one meeting was enough for her to ascertain that the old man was no ordinary person.
“That’s my business—“
“This isn’t just your business.I want to make sure my investment will generate a return.Nobody would voluntarily get into a failed investment,”
Danika interrupted Eustace.He fell silent.
After a while, he said, “With the support of the Zellwegers and Watkins, I have a great chance of securing victory.”
“The Zellwegers and Watkins are external forces. We can’t openly support you.I need to know the reason you’re so confident.”
Deliberately showing support for Eustace might put her family at odds with Zeke.
Therefore, before she was sure Eustace would take over the Quinceys, the Zellwegers wouldn’t show support for him publicly.
Eustace looked at her steadily and said calmly, “My confidence naturally stems from my abilities. If the Quinceys want to wear me out, they’ll have to see if they can hold me down.”
Evidently, Eustace knew Zeke was testing his resolve and abilities.
Since he dared to go to the Quinceys of Bardoff City, he must have something up his sleeve.
“Allright. You have our support for the time being.”
In fact, even if Eustace didn’t tell her all that, she would still agree to help him out.She just wanted to talk to him more and find out what he was planning.
With the support of the Zellwegers secured, Eustace’s tightly furrowed brows finally relaxed.
Soon, the waiter served the dishes, and they ate their meal in a reasonably harmonious atmosphere.
“Last time, when you had dinner with Randy, was it to discuss a collaboration too?” Eustace asked casually.
Danika nodded.
“Yes, it was about that piece of land in the southern part of the city.Randy approached Zellweger Inc all of a sudden.I felt something was off, so I came to check it out today.”
“Well, you’re very cautious,” Eustace commented.
Danika glanced at Eustace, finding his behavior strange — it was as if he’d never met her.
She’d always been cautious, and Eustace should be well aware of this trait of hers.
As they ate, Danika couldn’t help but ask, “The person who chased after you previously was from the Quinceys, right? Did you know?”
Eustace nodded. It was because he knew that he had decided to return to the Quinceys of Bardoff City.
