“That was all in the past.I will never do that now.So, can you please stop showing up in front of me?”

For some reason, he always felt disturbed when he saw her.

He could barely fight the urge to get closer to her, and his rational mind would frame his feelings as a symptom of his poor mental health and warn him to exert more self-control.He suffered greatly from the tug-of-war between his mind and his emotions.

Under this situation, he decided it was best not to meet Danika at all.

“Come on! Did you think that I stalked you all the way here?”

She was speechless at how Eustace remained as egotistical as he was. He raised a brow without denying it.

She guffawed.

“You’re overthinking. You’re not the only person who could dine here. I’m here with someone. Alright?”

His mood tanked upon hearing that she had company.

Did she come here to dine with that person? He could not stop ruminating even though he knew he shouldn’t.

From this, he assumed that his mental health issues were not fully resolved yet.

When she reappeared from the restroom, Eustace was nowhere to be seen.

She believed he might have left.

Gritting her teeth, she strode into the main hall.

“What’s wrong? You look pale.”

Randy noticed the change in her expression and found it weird. She took a deep breath, silently scolding herself for acting like a loser who was affected by Eustace’s words.

“It’s nothing.I ran into a narcissist.”

She waved her hand, seemingly unwilling to continue the conversation.

Randy was curious about the narcissist she mentioned, but he did not press on because she was reluctant to divulge anything.

They dived into a conversation but were soon distracted by a group of patrons that emerged from a lounge room.

Danika spotted Eustace Quincey and went speechless. He was still around.

However, he had a female companion who seemed intimate with him.

It was an upsetting sight for Danika.

Eustace noticed her presence, along with Randy’s.

There was an almost unnoticeable change in his expression, which no one else picked up except for Blake Watkins beside him.

“Aren’t they Danika Zellweger and Randy Glass?”

As a member of the Watkins, Blake knew Randy.

Eustace had a vague memory of Randy Glass as well.

Ever since he decided to fight and take over the Quinceys, he collected and went through the details of the Ten Elites and learned the names.

People Are Fickle-Minded

“They look great together,”

Blake remarked casually, attracting Eustace’s gaze.

She hurriedly clarified, “The Zellwegers and the Glasses might be relatives, but Danika and Randy are not blood-related.Everyone knows that.”

Although Graham presented Danika as his and Rowena’s long-lost daughter, everyone was clever enough to figure out that Rowena was not Danika’s birth mother.

Eustace was irked by the reminder that Danika and Randy were not blood-related.

Their existence seemed unusually jarring to him when he looked at them again.

“Let’s go,” Blake urged.

He nodded and left with her.

He didn’t expect to run into Danika during his business meeting at the restaurant, and he was even more surprised to see her dining with Randy.

Once Eustace and Blake were gone, Randy shifted his focus back to Danika.

“Isn’t that guy your ex-husband?”

Thanks to his thorough investigation, he was more than familiar with Danika’s background.

That was how he recognized Eustace Quincey right away.

“Yeah,” she didn’t deny.

Her relationship with Eustace was nothing shameful.

“I heard that the Quinceys recently roped in their indirect descendants. Looks like he’s one of them.”

As the cr茅me de la cr茅me of the Ten Elites, the Quinceys always attracted eyes with each move.

Danika said nothing, so he went on, “I bet the others wouldn’t stand a chance to become the heir, but Eustace Quincey has the capability.Do you know who’s the woman beside him?”

He purposely dangled the information in front of her.

Danika shook her head —she had no idea.

“She’s the daughter of the Watkins family. She wasn’t actively managing the business, but things seem to have changed now.”

Randy grinned and stared intently at Danika in an attempt to pick up any hint of emotional change.

However, he was disappointed when she remained unbothered, as though Eustace’s relationship status was none of her concern.

He wasn’t ready to give up yet and said, “If Eustace Quincey gets help from Miss Watkins, he has a higher chance of success than his competition.

But…I guess he’s not ahead of them much.

He can’t be that naive to believe that Zeke Quincey is handing over the family business to a distant relative.”

Although Eustace was a Quincey, everyone knew that the Quinceys treated their distant relatives as outsiders.

Danika was unhappy to hear Randy’s disparaging comments about Eustace.

“And how do you know he has no chance of success?”

“It’s not my personal opinion—just a matter of fact known to all.”

No one would believe that the head of the Quincey family would hand over his business to outsiders.

Danika pursed her lips, knowing that Randy was speaking the truth.

“But what if there’s a chance? What if he is capable and gets recognition from that old man?”

She had full trust in Eustace’s capability.

Hence, the alternative scenario was not impossible.

Randy held a different opinion.

“The heir selection has got nothing to do with capability. It’s all about passing the business to the bloodline.”

The serious manner in which he spoke led her to realize that he was right.

They were not the only ones who knew it.

Perhaps, Eustace understood the stakes against him too.

Judging from the way he acted, he seemed dead set on competing.

“Where did he get the confidence? Is it because he has Miss Watkins on his side?” she mulled.

“Look how he was all obsessed over you last time.I can’t believe that he gave up on pursuing you this soon.People are indeed fickle- minded. He probably thinks that given he’s a Quincey, and with Blake Watkins supporting him, you are no longer up to his standard.”

While speaking, he observed Danika keenly. Her face soured as she glared at him, knowing well that he had purposely said that to her.

“You don’t have to remind me about it.”

What Do You Think?

Unaffected by her anger, Randy kept smiling and was even secretly glad to have evoked some emotions from her.

“Shall I send you back to the office?” he asked.

“No,” she turned him down and left immediately.

He didn’t insist and watched as she left.
