He had previously thought that Brandon was decent, but after seeing the two of them in the garden, he was a little displeased with him.
After James left, Graham called everyone to the living room.
“Brandon, do you really want to marry Jolene?”
Graham didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point.He had a feeling that something unexpected might happen if he waited too long to marry Jolene off.
Brandon nodded sincerely.
“Yes, I really like Jolene and hope you will let me take care of her for the rest of her life.”
Graham nodded, looking satisfied since Brandon didn’t hesitate.
Jolene didn’t know why her father was bringing it up again, making her uneasy.
“Dad, didn’t we say we’d talk about this in a few years since I’m still young?”
‘You’re not that young.It’s time for you to get married,” Graham said.
“Dad!” Jolene cried, feeling angry.
Graham stopped what she was about to say with a wave of his hand.
“Let’s do this.You two can get engaged first, and the marriage can take its time.It won’t be rushed.”
Jolene’s face turned pale.
Wasn’t an engagement equivalent to marrying Brandon? Who would want a woman who was engaged to someone else? “Dad, I don’t want to do it so soon,” Jolene refused.
Seeing that Graham was about to get angry, Rowena quickly pulled him aside.
“It’s the 21st century now.You can’t just make decisions for Jolene without her input.”
“How am I deciding for her? She likes Brandon,”
Graham rebutted, upset.Since they both liked each other, they should just get married.Graham wondered why they were making things so complicated.Rowena frowned.
“How do you know she likes him?”
“Jolene and Mr.Britt were hugging in the garden just now,” Danika said.
“Dad and I both saw it with our own eyes.What else can it mean? If she doesn’t like him, why would they hug each other? Jolene, don’t be shy.Since you like Mr.Britt, just say it.Dad won’t refuse.”
Danika gave her a look suggesting that Jolene was too shy to speak up, making Jolene so angry that she wanted to hit her.
No wonder Graham had brought up the topic again; it turned out that this despicable Danika was behind it.She gritted her teeth and stared at her fiercely.
“Did you do it on purpose?”
“What are you talking about, Jolene? As your elder sister, I want you to be happy.”
Danika grinned at her.Her smile could’ve fooled them into thinking she meant what she said.However, neither Jolene nor Rowena believed her; only Graham did.
“Danika! You despicable brat! You set me up!”
She was furious now that she understood what was going on.She knew that Danika must have deliberately brought Graham to the garden to witness her hug Brandon just to force her to marry him.
You Rascal
Jolene charged at Danika, ready to beat her up, but Danika was unruffled, showing no intention of dodging.
Graham slammed the table, and Jolene was shocked by the loud sound.She stopped in her tracks and didn’t get to Danika.
“You rascal!” he roared.
“Danika is your sister!”
“I don’t have a sister! I’m my mom’s only daughter!”
Perhaps, she had been emboldened out of anger or her strong refusal against marrying Brandon Britt.She talked back to Graham despite fearing him.
The scowl on his face deepened.
“If you dare speak in this manner in public, I’d put you in your place!”
“Why can’t I say that? She’s not my sister anyway!”
Jolene was enraged as well.
“Have you ever given me any attention since she joined the family? We’re both your daughters! How could you play favorites?”
“How could you compare yourself to Danika? Do you think you’re comparable?” he bellowed as he grew increasingly irritated by Jolene’s behavior.
His words were jarring to Jolene.She glared at him with unbridled resentment in her eyes, which he picked up easily.
“Oh, you’re rebelling now, huh? Did I raise an ungrateful daughter?”
Jolene wanted to retort but was held back by Rowena.
“This is a sudden decision.Jo and I need more time to think it over.”
“There’s nothing to consider.The engagement party will be in a week.You just have to show up on time,”
Graham instructed them.It was not a question but an announcement.
Rowena couldn’t stand him anymore.
“Graham Zellweger, you’d better not cross a line!”
“If you’re in my family, you need to listen to me.”
He didn’t back down.He knew the reason behind Rowena’s impudence.He once had regard for her out of consideration of the Glasses, but he did not need to do so anymore.
Since he was working with the Windsors to seal the fate of the Glasses, there was no reason to fear them anymore.She pointed at him shakily.
“Graham Zellweger! Just wait and see!”
With that, she dragged Jolene away with her.
After they left, Graham turned to Brandon.
“Any objection to having the engagement in a week?”
“No.”
Brandon wouldn’t have minded even if he were asked to marry Jolene next week.
Graham nodded, feeling glad that Brandon was at least more sensible than Jolene.
Brandon left after the discussion, leaving Graham and Jolene in the guest room.
Graham thought that Danika was quiet because she was upset by Jolene’s words, and he comforted her, “Don’t take it to heart.To me, you’re the daughter of the Zellwegers.”
“I’m fine.Don’t worry.”
Danika wouldn’t take Jolene’s words personally.
Moreover, she didn’t care if she was part of the Zellwegers.
Even if she weren’t, it wouldn’t affect her much.
However, Graham took her indifference as being thoughtful.He thought she insisted she was fine because she didn’t want to worry him.
That made him feel sorrier for her.He decided it was the best decision to get Jolene married to stop her from harassing Danika at home.
Later, Danika parted with Graham and retired to her room.
Instead of sleeping, she was thinking about Eustace.
She couldn’t wrap her head around his sudden change.
How could he confess his love to her only to take it back so soon? How could that happen? A text arrived, interrupting her thoughts.
Alfred texted her the information he had gathered on Eustace and the Quinceys.
He followed up with another, “It looks like I stand a chance to contest for the heir of the Quinceys.”
After all, Alfred was biologically related to the Quinceys.

Danika instantly made a call to Alfred upon reading his texts.
