“I told you earlier that Jolene was interested in Brandon, but you didn’t believe me,” Danika told Graham.
Graham was wearing an ugly expression on his face.
“Since she is interested in him, couldn’t she tell us directly? Why must she sneak around like this and act in such a lowly manner?”
He was furious as he thought it was unfitting for a daughter of the Zellwegers to behave that way.
She ought to be loud and proud about the man she liked.She should have declared it and sought blessings instead of doing what she was doing now.
Graham turned around and left, but Danika did not hurry to leave.
Smiling, she approached the couple.
Her slow applause startled Jolene, who quickly removed herself from Brandon’s arms.
Jolene and Brandon reacted differently when they realized it was Danika.
“Danika!”
Jolene spat through gritted teeth, regretting now that she had been caught by Danika.
She knew the consequences would be bad if Graham saw her entangled with Brandon in such a manner.
She blamed it all on Brandon.
Why couldn’t he just be her rebound? She hated how he even had the audacity to say he wanted to marry her when he refused to believe her.
“Since you and Mr.Britt are on the same page about your feelings, you should get married as soon as possible.Don’t make Father worry about you,” Danika said, chuckling as she teased them.
Jolene’s face sank, and she glared at her unkindly.
“It’s none of your business.” With that, she left.
She thought hugging Brandon would pacify him and make him believe her for a while.
Hence, there was no need for her to linger around him any longer.
Instead, she needed to get to James quickly.
When Jolene left, neither of them chased after her.
While it was normal for Danika not to bother with Jolene, Brandon surprised Danika by remaining there.
“It seems you don’t like Jolene that much,” she said.
She thought that Brandon really liked Jolene and would accept her regardless of her character.

James frowned, “What do you mean?”

Although she didn’t say it explicitly, the meaning was clear.
James sneered, “You’re trying to say that Danika is an illegitimate child?”
“Yes, she is,” Jolene confirmed.
She thought James must have been fooled by Danika, thinking she was the real eldest daughter of the Zellwegers and therefore liked her.
