Glancing at her, Danika wondered how stupid Jolene was exactly.
Did she think both of them would be interested in her? Jolene’s actions wouldn’t make James like her.
In fact, they would make Brandon uncomfortable.It was a lose-lose situation.
However, Danika didn’t voice her opinion.
After all, Jolene and Brandon’s relationship would be elevated to the next level that day.
During dinner, Brandon professed his love for Jolene before Graham and Rowena and expressed wanting to marry her.
Jolene wasn’t very happy, and an unpleasant expression formed on her face.
She glared at Brandon, wondering why he had to do that when James was watching.
If James misunderstood, wouldn’t she lose her chance with him?
“The Britt and Zellweger families are a good match, but it depends on what Jolene thinks,” Graham said.
He had no objections; it all depended on Jolene.
Of course, Jolene was unwilling to marry Brandon, but she couldn’t make it too obvious.
Otherwise, Brandon might get angry and say nasty things that might not favor her situation.She made eye contact with Rowena, who quickly caught her cue and said, “My little Jolene is still young.I’m not ready to marry her off so soon.Why don’t you consider Danika? She’s my daughter too and is at the right age for marriage.”
Brandon and Graham’s faces fell as soon as she said that.
Snorting, Graham said, “Danika isn’t in a hurry, and I have other plans for her.”
This time, Rowena’s face fell.You have made plans for Danika but not for Jolene?”
His favoritism was blatant.
Clearly, he wanted Jolene to marry so that there would be room for Danika.
There was no way Rowena would allow Graham to have his way.
“Jolene is not young anymore.”
Everyone present understood the meaning behind his words.
Jolene’s face turned pale, and Rowena didn’t look good either.
However, they didn’t want to make a scene since Brandon and James were there.
After the meal, Rowena left Zellweger Castle, but not before giving Danika a fierce look.It seemed that she blamed everything on her.
Although Danika was innocent, she didn’t bother arguing with Rowena.She was waiting for Rowena to take action against her.
If she didn’t, where would Danika get her evidence? Little did Danika know, it would nearly cost her her life.
Danika and James remained in the living room while Jolene and Brandon headed out.
Although Danika saw them walking toward the garden, she didn’t disturb them as she figured it wasn’t a good time.
“Your father and I have already started to take action against the Glasses.I reckon they will have a few rough days ahead of them,” James said, trying to make small talk with Danika.
Danika nodded and hummed.
“It’s no rush.Take it slow.”
After knowing Eustace was fine, she wasn’t anxious any longer.
Although she hadn’t found out who had attacked Eustace, it was probably not the Glasses.
Judging from the actions of the Quinceys, it was probably someone from their side.However, she didn’t know who.
But what did it have to do with her? Since Eustace had made his stance clear, why did she bother worrying about it? Danika decided not to pay attention to anything related to Eustace.
You Can’t Have Your Cake and Eat It Too
James was worried about Danika, but since she remained quiet, it was difficult for him to ask more.
“Danika, are you really not going to consider me? I’m not saying I’m great, but I’m not too bad either,” James asked again, thinking he should give it another try.
Danika had a headache upon hearing that.She thought that after rejecting James, he wouldn’t try again.
“James, I’m not open to romance now,” Danika said; she didn’t want their relationship to be anything different from what it currently was.
If she were to get together with James and break up later, they would eventually become strangers.James didn’t get angry when she rejected him again, as he had expected that outcome.
“It’s fine,” he said, smiling.
“I’m not in a hurry.I just hope that when you change your mind, you will consider me first.Let me add my name to the queue”.
Danika was speechless.
After forcing a laugh, she couldn’t bring herself to speak anymore.
After a while, thinking that Brandon should be done, she went upstairs to look for Graham as she wanted to bring him to the garden.
Meanwhile, Jolene and Brandon were together in a gazebo.
“Brandon, why did you say that in front of my father today?”
Jolene was annoyed as his actions had disrupted her plans and even affected her chances with James.
Brandon didn’t know what she was thinking, nor did he care.
“Jolene, don’t you want to marry me?” he asked.
“I haven’t made up my mind yet, Brandon.”
Jolene planned to continue to avoid the issue at hand as she had done before.She would continue being unclear about her answer.
Brandon’s eyes flickered.
Usually, he wouldn’t bother to continue pursuing her, but this time it was different.
“What is there left to consider? Do you have any concerns? I promised to treat you well.”
Brandon looked at Jolene, his gaze full of affection.However, hearing that only made Jolene unhappy.She didn’t want him to treat her well! Nonetheless, she kept that to herself as she was afraid of losing James and Brandon at the same time, which would leave her with nothing.
“Brandon, you said you wouldn’t force me.I wanted a few more years,” Jolene said, wondering why Brandon was so persistent.
Brandon had to get an answer, so his face fell when he heard that.”Jolene, I am not a fool.”
“Brandon…”
“You can’t have your cake and eat it too! Do you think I can’t see how you look at James?” Brandon was furious.
Jolene didn’t expect him to get angry, so she didn’t know what to do.
“Brandon, that’s not what I mean! I just want to spend more time with my parents at home,” Jolene insisted.
She didn’t care if Brandon would buy it or not.
All she knew was if she didn’t give Brandon some reassurance, he wouldn’t believe her.
“Do you think I’ll believe that?”
Brandon sneered.
It caused Jolene to panic a little.
Suddenly, she hugged Brandon and said, “Brandon, I really like you, don’t be like this.”
Brandon was also stunned.
However, it was not because of the hug but because of what Danika had said to him before—she had predicted everything.

Danika had called him previously, instructing him to act like he didn’t believe Jolene regardless of what she said.
Danika did not tell him the reason.
All she said was that if he did it, he would be able to marry Jolene.
Now that Jolene was in his arms, Brandon began to admire Danika although their marriage had not been confirmed yet.
Jolene and Brandon didn’t notice Danika and Graham standing nearby, watching them embrace each other.
