She had not worried about it at all.

She dared not brag about her talents, but she was sure that even if she weren’t part of the Zellwegers, she could still bag a few clients.

Of course, that was only if no one decided to sabotage her.She was the Zellweger family’s eldest daughter, after all.

There were pros and cons of being who she was.

No one would want to pick a fight with her.

Well, except for Rowena Glass and Jolene Zellweger.

“Don’t you worry too much. How could I be your senior if I couldn’t help you with this?”

James didn’t think it was an issue.

He could randomly select two projects from the companies under the Windsors, and Danika would ace the sales reports.

Danika looked at him, a little embarrassed.

“I’m honestly not worried about it, James. You don’t have to help me.”

“That’s true.I’m pretty confident in your abilities.”

James didn’t press the matter.

He knew of her personality.

If she didn’t need help, he didn’t have to meddle.

If he did, she wouldn’t appreciate it.

What Is He So Nervous About?

Not long after, the car stopped at the entrance of the restaurant.

James and Danika walked inside, and it was then that she noticed something was off.

No one was in the restaurant, while melodious piano music played in the air.

Even a fool could sense that something was not right. She turned and looked at James.

“James, did you arrange all this?”

Danika was not too sure. She thought that he wasn’t the type to do something like it.

On the other hand, only he was around.

James smiled and said nothing.

He brought her into the restaurant, and they sat down at the table, which was already prepared.

Danika was almost certain now that this was James’ doing.

But…what did he mean by all this? James sat before her.

A smile hung on his lips like usual, but upon closer inspection, Danika realized he was nervous.

Nervous? What was he so nervous about? A million questions popped up in her head, but then James spoke, and Danika understood everything.

“I actually have something to say to you, Danika,” James said.

Anxiety flashed through his eyes. Danika said nothing, waiting for him to continue.

James steadied himself and grew serious.

“Danika, there’s something that I’ve never told you.I…”

James was obviously nervous.

“I like you,” he said after a long pause.

He immediately felt better once those words were out.

Then, he looked at Danika anxiously, a little afraid to meet her eyes.

She hadn’t spoken even after a while had passed.

He finally looked up at her and realized that she was unusually calm.He couldn’t see a trace of emotion on her face.

“Danika, I…”

James was about to say more, but then Danika spoke.

“Why do you like me, James?”

“Why?”

James was a little stunned by the question. He didn’t know how to answer. He scratched his head awkwardly like a child.

“I can’t really explain why.I just really like you.I miss you when I don’t see you, and I’m happy when I do.”

That was all there was to it.

It wasn’t much of a reason.

Danika didn’t think so.

She looked at James apprehensively.

“I’ve never heard you say that you like me.And I’ve never got the feeling that you liked me.”

When they trained under Mr.Birkett, they spent a lot of time together and shared a close bond.

But Danika could see that James didn’t like her in that way.

They were simply seniors and juniors.

So why was that changing now? The only major change that had happened recently was her becoming the Zellwegers’ daughter. She didn’t intend to read so much into it, but she had to.

“What do you mean, Danika?” James’ face darkened.

He understood the meaning behind her words.

Danika didn’t mind elaborating.

“James, you just like me because of my identity, don’t you?”

“Do you think I’m only after the Zellwegers’ status?”

It was as if James had heard a joke.

He was a little angry.

“I’m not saying that you’re after the Zellwegers. It’s just that in your heart, you think I’m only worthy of you because I’m the Zellwegers’ daughter. What if I wasn’t their daughter right now? Would you like me?”

She looked at him nonchalantly, clearly seeing through his motives. She wasn’t angry. She understood why James would do that.

It was hard to find someone in their position whom they liked.

Maybe James truly liked her, but not strongly.

That would be why he had never told her that he liked her.

Things were different now. She was suddenly in the same league as him, and that was the reason for his sudden change.

Something Is Off

James grew quiet after hearing Danika’s words.

Very, very quiet.

Danika wasn’t in a hurry.

She didn’t mind letting him think for himself.

It’d be best if he could figure it out clearly.

Right at that moment, the waiter served them their food.

Danika ate peacefully, waiting for James to figure it out.

“You’re really unbothered by all this, Danika.”

James watched her happily eating, unsure of what to say.

Danika shrugged nonchalantly and smiled.

“I might not have accepted your confession, but that doesn’t mean I have to starve.” Even if they weren’t a couple, Danika still trusted James’ character.
