He wanted to be by her side so that everyone would know that he was protecting her and no one was allowed to bully her.
Seeing how insistent he was, Danika didn’t say anything.
She looked out of the car window in silence.
Seeing her like that, Graham felt as if he was seeing Danika’s mother again.
She was always silent, and she loved looking out the window.
“Danika, come back to Bardoff City.
This is your home,”
Graham said, unable to stop himself.
He knew that Danika had friends and her job in Partington, so she had to go back soon.
However, after finally seeing her after so many years, he wanted to spend more time with her.
He was reluctant to let her go.
Danika raised her eyebrows when she heard that.
After along moment of thought, she said, “There are still some things I must take care of in Parrington.”
“T’ll have someone take care of them for you,”
Graham said.
“No, I must go myself,”
Danika insisted.
However, she felt a little bad when she saw the disappointment in Graham’s eyes.
Perhaps because they were related by blood, she couldn’t bring herself to hate him even though she had declared that she hadn’t forgiven Graham.
Sighing, she continued, “I’ll return to Bardoff City after I’ve taken care of everything in Parrington.”
Graham couldn’t believe it.
“Do you really mean that?”
“Yeah.”
Danika nodded.
Since she had moved her company’s headquarters to Bardoff City, she will most likely live there for a long time and would rarely return to Parrington.
“Okay.
That’s great.”
Graham’s joy was written all over his face.
After amoment of thought, Danika added, “If you are free, you can go back to Parrington with me.
Just to relax and take a breather.”
Graham was a little surprised to hear that.
Before he could answer, Danika explained, “Let me make it clear.
I’m going back mainly to bring someone to Bardoff City.
However, it might be difficult to do that because there’s a relatively powerful troublemaker in Parrington who’s in my way.
If I go back by myself, I may not be able to bring my friend here.”
She didn’t hide her true intentions—she wanted Graham to go with her to save Stephanie.
Don’t Lose to Danika Graham smiled wryly, feeling strange about the sudden change in Danika’s attitude toward him.
However, he knew that helping his daughter through her troubles was his duty as a father.
He was glad that she still trusted him enough to ask for his help; it meant that she recognized him as her father.
“Okay, I’ll go with you to Parrington.
I want to see the place where you grew up,”
he said.
He regretted missing out on Danika’s growth all these years and hoped to make up for it by going to her hometown with her.
Danika was happy to hear her father’s promise.
With Graham by her side, she felt confident that even Paul couldn’t stop her from taking Stephanie away.
The thought of taking Stephanie away from Paul put her in a good mood.
As they arrived at the dinner party, they were immediately swarmed by reporters who had gotten wind of the missing Zellwegers ‘ daughter’s appearance.
Though it wasn’t a press conference, the reporters clamored to ask her questions.
Danika, however, kept her composure and walked with her father, putting on a brave face.
1 Jolene and her mother, who arrived later, watched Danika from a distance.
Jolene was seething with hatred and envy, Rowena couldn’t help but complain to Jolene, “You shouldn’t have left Danika’s side.
You should be standing there with your father so that Danika doesn’t steal the limelight.”
“But Mom, didn’t I tell you what happened? That guy that Danika was with was wild, and I couldn’t beat them.
If I didn’t leave, I would have gotten beaten up,”
Jolene retorted, clearly upset.
If it wasn’t for Danika, she would be standing beside Graham now.
Rowena sighed in annoyance.
“That man is from a small family in Parrington.
He thinks he can be the boss in the capital just because he’s the boss in Parrington? Don’t worry.
I’ve sent someone to teach him a lesson.
He’ll learn not to mess with our family.”
Hearing that, Jolene felt a little better.”Thanks, Mom! But don’t kill him.
I want to see him kneel in front of me and beg for mercy.”
If she didn’t get to experience it, she would never get over it.
“Come one, let’s go in.
Remember, you’re not allowed to have any conflict with Danika tonight.
Since so many people are watching, show them who the eldest daughter of the Zellweger family truly is.
Don’t lose to Danika!”
Although Danika was the eldest daughter to the outside world, Rowena didn’t consider her to be one.
In her eyes, there was only one daughter in the Zellweger family, Jolene.
Anyone else who challenged it would be put to death.
Jolene composed herself, wiping the hatred from her face, and followed her mother into the venue.
Since Jolene had participated in such events countless times, she behaved decently, not embarrassing her family in any way.
The only difference was everyone was paying special attention to the Zellwegers that night.
After all, they were curious if Danika was really the long-lost daughter of Graham and Rowena, as they had never heard of the two having a missing eldest daughter.
Everyone in the capital knew about Graham’s past, and they didn’t believe that Danika was the daughter of Rowena.
They believed Danika was born from Graham’s past.
She Just Happened to Be There Of course, they only entertained the thought; nobody dared to ask Graham directly.
Since he had already claimed that Danika was his lost eldest daughter, it was clear he didn’t want people to think of her as an illegitimate daughter.
Besides, the guests at the dinner were all respectable people, so nobody would really broach the subject.
