“Yeah, I don’t know where those people came from, but your mother obviously knew them, which was why she left with them,” Graham explained.
He had been investigating for years but still hadn’t found any clues.
Danika frowned, as there were still many unanswered questions.
“Sometimes I wonder if it was right to let your mother leave with those people back then. After all, under those circumstances, if she didn’t leave with them, she would definitely be found by the Zellwegers, and what awaited her then might have been death.”
However, leaving with that group of people didn’t mean that Danika’s mother was completely safe either.
Graham had been regretting his choice since then.
Do You Accept Me as Your Father?
Danika’s emotions were in turmoil after hearing her father’s story. She looked at the middle-aged man before her, wishing to blame him yet finding no fault with him.
He didn’t seem to have a choice in that kind of situation.
But was he really free of blame? Danika didn’t think so.
In her eyes, if Graham wanted to love whomever he wanted, he should have fought for the position as the heir.
Once he sat at the top of the hierarchy, no one would dare have an opinion.
Or rather, he wouldn’t have to care.
But he did not.He thought he would be an unimportant family member if he refused to fight for the top.
That was why the Zellwegers would control him so much.He was so naive.
How would a family like that let him escape from their clutches?
“Danika, I was wrong to not have taken care of you all these years.I’d understand if you want to scold or hit me.”
Graham looked at Danika with trepidation. He had never looked like that all these years.
But Danika was different. She was the daughter of his most beloved. He’d give her everything under the sky if he could.
Danika shook her head.
“It’s all in the past, and it’s been so many years.Scolding you or hitting you would bear no meaning.”
She was not impulsive.
“It’s not like you didn’t care all these years. I don’t blame you,” she said.
But at the same time, she wasn’t grateful to him.
“Well…” Graham was nervous.
‘Do you accept me as your father?”
“Is that even an issue? It doesn’t matter if I accept you or not. We’re already connected by blood.”
Danika smiled at him, but it was distant, as if she were faced with a stranger.
Graham’s heart sank slightly. He understood what Danika meant.
“I understand. It’s okay.I will make everything up to you.” Danika said nothing.
She did not object.
If she wanted to rise in Bardoff City, she would need his help.
Their conversation soon ended.
The assistant handed over the agreement.
Graham signed his name on the documents with no hesitation. He closed it and handed it to Danika.
“This will be effective once you sign.”
Danika was not in a hurry to sign it.
She looked at Graham and asked, “You’re giving these two companies to me so easily? Are you sure that the Zellwegers…or your own family members…won’t have an issue with it?”
“Relax.I’m no longer the hapless man that I was before.I don’t need anyone’s permission to do this,” he said.
If only he had this power back then. He’d have protected his wife and daughter.
Danika didn’t hold herself back. She signed her name on the documents and handed them to the assistant.
The assistant would oversee the rest of the procedures so that Danika would not have to make several trips to Zellweger Inc.
“Since you’re planning to move in tonight, why don’t we have dinner together?” Graham asked.
“I could introduce you to your sister.”
He didn’t care about Rowena and didn’t want to introduce her to Danika, but Jolene was her sister.
They had to at least know each other. If they could just get along well together, Graham would be happy.
Danika raised her eyebrows and nodded, smiling.
“That’s great.I’d like to meet my sister, too.”
She just didn’t know if Jolene would want to see her.
Danika didn’t think that she would, but who cared?
You Shouldn’t Have Told Me
Danika walked out of Zellweger Inc and sat in Eustace’s car.He was waiting for her downstairs. He had wanted to rush in to get her several times, but in the end, he had not.
It wasn’t because he was afraid of Zellweger Inc.It was because he was afraid of affecting Danika’s plans.
Thankfully, she was alright.
“How was the discussion?” Eustace started the car, asking seemingly casually.
Danika nodded, smiling.
“It was alright.My plan worked.”
Danika succeeded at both obtaining the companies and moving into the Zellwegers’ home. Her trip was not wasted.
Then, she looked at Eustace in embarrassment.
“I’m going to move into their house tonight. What are your plans after this? Are you going to stay in Bardoff City?”
She knew that Eustace had rushed over for her and was feeling guilty.
But there were some things that she just had to do, so she was put in a tough situation.
Eustace wasn’t as bothered.
“I was planning on staying in Bardoff City for a while,” he said.
“Quincey Group’s company is doing well here. I’m preparing to expand it while things are fresh.”
“True. This is the capital city, after all.Developments would be better here.”
Even Danika was preparing to place her company’s headquarters here.
“So you needn’t worry. It doesn’t matter where you are.I’ll be able to protect you anywhere.”
He looked at Danika, the passion in his eyes unconcealed.
It didn’t matter that Quincey Group was just a small company in Bardoff City.
Eustace was confident that in a few years, he would make Quincey Group a prominent existence that was able to protect Danika.
Danika was moved. She knew that Eustace was doing all this for her.
“I believe you.”
Afterward, they didn’t talk of this.
Danika gave him the address, and he drove her there.
When they arrived, he realized that it was an office complex. He looked at Danika curiously.
“Are you bringing me here to show me where your company will be?”
It wasn’t a great place, far from the city and all, but it had potential.Plus, the costs here would be cheaper. It wasn’t too bad.
“That’s part of the reason.”
Danika got down from the car.He followed her from behind.
