Alex couldn’t be bothered to argue and gently shook Paige, saying, “You’re home, Paige. I’m here to take you inside. Wake up.”

Paige opened her eyes drowsily and sat up when she saw Alex. That was quick.”

Alex asked, ‘Did you want to spend the night in the car?”

Paige shook her head. She wanted to say goodbye to River but decided to go home with Alex, seeing her asleep..

Kenny closed the door and waved, saying, “Got it. Hurry upstairs. It’s freezing.”

Kenny watched Alex and Paige head upstairs, hand in hand, and thought Paige had found a good man.

Half an hour later, they reached–Bayview Villa.

River gradually woke up, sensing the car entering the yard.

Kenny yawned and said, “G, wake up the kids. I can’t carry all of them,”

River rubbed her eyes and was about to look up when the car door opened. She saw Noah standing outside with a cold, nonchalant expression.

He glanced at the children and asked softly, “Are they asleep?”

River dazedly asked, “How did you know we’re back?”

Noah bent over, gently carrying the sleeping Liora. “Alex told me.”

–

River nodded. “I’ll carry Ty.”

Tyler suddenly sat up and said, “It’s okay. I’m awake. I’ll walk.”

Tyler’s actions also woke up Axel. He sat up, looked around, and got out of the car with Tyler.

Kenny walked with his arms around the two children’s shoulders. “It’s freezing outside. Let’s get inside quickly.”

Kenny glanced at River and Noah. He didn’t want to witness another affectionate scene.

The warm yard lighting illuminated River’s blushing face.

Noah carried Liora, her head against his shoulder, and held River’s hand. He said, “Looks like you had a great time today, huh?”

River smiled and looked at his profile. “It was nice. Have you had dinner?”

Noah stopped walking and looked at River. “Isn’t that question a bit late?”

River was surprised. “Is it?”

Noah was about to reply when a loud noise came from the neighboring villa.

River frowned and looked in that direction. “I don’t know what kind of neighbors they are, renovating day and night without a break.”

Noah asked, “Do they make a lot of noise?”

River replied, “Not really. I just think the owner of this villa must have some quirks.”

Noah’s line Noah’s lips twitched.

River continued. “Why would a normal person have workers renovate at night? Isn’t that exploiting the workers?”

Noah’s expression turned serious. He squeezed River’s hand tightly as if venting his anger. “We should go inside. Are you trying to freeze out here?”

River looked at him in confusion, thinking. Why is he suddenly confrontational when I haven’t criticized him?

River went back to the room after putting the children to bed. Noah had already washed up and occupied half of the bed as he waited for her.

When River closed the door, Noah sat upright and spoke gravely. “I have something important to tell you.”

River asked, “Is it urgent? I’d like to take a shower first.”

“It’s about your father,” Noah revealed.

River was taken aback and remembered Neil. “Oh, how was Neil today?”

Noah said, ‘He’s fine. We’ve already gathered the evidence we need, and Neil is watching Bernard.”

River frowned and asked, “Why haven’t you reported it to the police since you have the evidence?”

Noah stared at River without a word, wanting to gauge her trust.

Noticing Noah’s silence, River sat down and asked anxiously, “Is Neil not planning to report it to the police?”

Noah replied, “He’s just as impatient as you are.”

River gazed at Noah intently.

Why doesn’t he just spill the beans all at once instead of making me ask questions one at a time? On the other hand, why did Noah decide not to report it to the police? she thought.

River pondered the dynamics within the De Marco family.

Moments later, her eyes grew calm. “Reporting it to the police could cause irreparable harm to MK. Additionally, your father’s shares won’t be passed down to you. I support your idea,” she assured.

Noah seemed grateful as he delicately brushed away a stray strand of River’s hair. He softly asked, “Do you know what I appreciate most about you?”

River blushed and looked away. “I don’t.”

Noah smirked. “You’re considerate. You could certainly handle your father’s murderer through legal channels, but you chose to step back for my sake.”

River was taken aback. “I didn’t choose to step back, but I believe that if you can do this for me, why can’t I wait a little longer for you?”

Her face reddened, and she stood up. I’m going to take a shower!”

As she turned to leave, Noah gently grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his embrace.

River caught the familiar scent of pine trees, and her body tensed.

“I haven’t showered yet, E–Noah…” she stammered.

Noah loosened his grip slightly and gazed at her face, which he had missed deeply for years. “We’ve done more than enough, I want you,” he said, leaning in to kiss River.

Her body went weak as Noah skillfully kissed her.

Suddenly, a knock echoed at the door.

The voice of the bodyguard sounded from outside. “Ms. Healy, Mr. Wilson is here.”

River and Noah turned their attention to the door.

“Scott? Why would he come at this time? River was surprised.

Noah released his grip on River, and his expression soured. “Tell the bodyguard to inform him you’re asleep,” Noah demanded.

River pushed him away. “Scott must have something important to discuss if he’s here at this hour. I’ll go’downstairs to find out first.”

Noah frowned. “Does he usually come at this time?

“No, that’s why I need to go downstairs,” River replied as she straightened her clothes.

Noah didn’t stop her but wanted to accompany her downstairs. River interjected, “Scott might not reveal anything if you’re with me. You should stay here.”

“Am I embarrassing you? Or do you not want him to know about our relationship?” Noah looked at her disapprovingly.

“What are you thinking? Scott and I are just friends,” River retorted.

Noah said, “If that’s the case, why stop me from meeting him?”

‘It’s certainly unusual for Scott to come at this time, no matter the circumstances, River thought. ‘No one can stop Noah when he gets jealous.‘

They adjusted their attire and headed downstairs to meet Scott.

Scott sat on the living room sofa with two boxes of supplements in front of him. He glanced upstairs upon hearing the commotion.

Noticing Noah walking behind River, he calmly greeted, “Mr. De Marco is here, too.”

Noah glanced at him and replied, “If you can come, so can I.

River was rendered speechless. ‘Does he feel the need to assert dominance in the presence of another man?

River walked over to Scott and asked, “Why are you here at this time?”

Scott smiled at River. “Not much. I thought you might still be awake, so I brought you the supplements.

I bought this morning.”

River examined the supplements and wondered, “Why did you buy these? I already have everything I need.”

Scott explained, “These supplements are of very high quality. You haven’t been looking well lately, and I wanted to make sure you get all the essential nutrients you need.”

River felt grateful but also concerned. Im sorry you had to spend your money on this. Please don’t buy them for me anymore.”

“No need for pleasantries between us,” he said gently.

River looked at him, feeling guilty in her heart.

Meanwhile, Noah observed them, his expression turning serious. ‘They share a deeper connection after the five years they spent together!

Noah disliked the pent–up anger he was feeling. He wrapped his arm around River’s shoulder, a hint of hostility in his expression, and warned, “Your kind attention may cause stress for my woman.”

River sighed internally, thinking, ‘Here he goes again…”

Scott glanced at Noah’s arm, then smiled and replied, “There’s no need to assert dominance, Mr. De Marco.

River and I have spent just as much time together as you have. It’s natural for us to care about each other.

Noah sneered. “Do you think I can’t see your thoughts written all over your face?”

Scott calmly asked, “Are you trying to restrict River’s social freedom, Mr. De Marco?””

Noah explained, “I won’t interfere with her social life, but I need to approve of anyone who shows improper Intentions toward her.”

Scott questioned, “Do you believe two boxes of supplements are enough to win River’s affection, Mr.

De Marco?”

Scott’s remark held a hidden meaning, implying that Noah saw River as someone who could be won over by small gestures. Noah’s hand clenched tightly, and River observed him subconsciously.

Before Noah could respond, River changed the subject. “Would you like something to eat, Scott?”

Scott declined, “I’m leaving now that I delivered the supplements. I don’t want to disturb you two when you should be resting.”
