Draco paced restlessly in his study after failing to receive Bernard’s call.
“It shouldn’t take this long to deal with Neil in theory, but it’s been half a day already, he thought.
Draco was about to call Bernard when he heard a knock at the door. Anxiously, he opened it, thinking it was Bernard. To his surprise, Noah stood there in a black overcoat with a cold expression.
“What are you doing here?” Draco asked in agitation.
Noah showed the folder in his hand. “It seems like you’ve forgotten about the annual report with your old age.”
Draco turned and said, “Come in!”
Noah walked inside and sat down casually, not mentioning Bernard at all. He stared at Draco for a moment before saying, “Casey’s actions have caused dissatisfaction among many high–level executives. How do you plan to handle the matter?”
Draco slammed the table in rage. “Don’t think I don’t know you had a hand in this! You’re here to get scolded willingly!”
Noah took his time to respond. “If Casey didn’t tamper with the materials, how would I ever catch his mistake?”
Draco retorted, “It was you who tampered with his materials! I personally checked the materials he had purchased before. Could my eyes have deceived me?”
Noah scoffed. “His failure to outsmart the trick shows how incompetent he is. If that’s the case, does he deserve to be MK’s VP?”
“You jerk! He’s your elder brother!” Draco exclaimed, grabbing a mug and throwing it at Noah.
Noah tilted his head, and the mug shattered after hitting the wall behind him. He felt a sharp pain radiating from the back of his neck, and his eyes turned cold. “How can someone who has contracted HIV deserve to be my elder brother?”
Draco’s eyes widened in shock, and he glared at Noah, “How do you know about this?”
Noah said, “My subordinates personally check the employees‘ medical checkup reports. You can hide it from Casey, but you can’t hide it from me. If the high–level executives learn about his condition, do you want me to explain the consequences in detail?”
Draco clenched his fists tightly. “What do you want, you jerk!”
Noah said emotionlessly, “I want Casey to leave MK voluntarily.”
“If you dare to do that, think about the consequences River will face!” Draco threatened again.
Noah said, “You may try.”
He had already assigned numerous bodyguards to secretly protect River. Draco’s words did not pose.
any threat to him.
Draco’s expression turned solemn. “I didn’t expect you to plan everything, you ungrateful brat!”
Noah said, “Casey has three days. If he chooses to stay in MK, I don’t mind making him the object of everyone’s contempt.”
Draco was livid. “How dare you!”
Noah replied, “You may wait and see.”
Draco frowned, contemplating how to further subdue Noah.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
Draco’s voice thundered, “Come in and speak!”
The door creaked open, and a bodyguard entered, announcing, “Sir, Ms. Love is back.”
Draco’s face darkened, “Just her?”
The bodyguard nodded. “Yes.”
“Bring her here,” Draco ordered.
“Understood, sir,” the bodyguard replied before leaving.
As the bodyguard departed, Draco gazed at Noah sternly. “Get out of here!”
Noah rose slowly, looked at Draco, and left the room.
As Noah walked through the house, he crossed paths with Daniella, who was following the bodyguard into the living room. Their eyes locked, and Daniella beseeched him with a pleading glance.
Noah glanced back at her and whispered, “Do what you must to escape this place.”
Daniella clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and followed the bodyguard calmly into the study.
After Daniella entered, the bodyguard closed the door behind her. In the study, she met Draco’s cold, rage-
filled gaze.
“Why are you the only one who returned? Where’s Bernard?” Draco inquired.
Daniella bit her lower lip and feigned panic, lowering her head. “We were intercepted by Neil’s associates.
on our way there.”
“Neil’s associates? How did they suddenly intercept your car? Did you leak my plan to him?” Draco’s eyes widened in surprise.
Daniella vigorously shook her head. “I didn’t! How could I leak anything when you have my phone?”
Although Draco remained skeptical, he couldn’t discern any deceit in Daniella’s expression. “Where’s Bernard?” he pressed.
Daniella replied, “I don’t know. They blindfolded me, and we were constantly changing locations. When Draco sneered. “You’ve attempted to scheme against River multiple times. Why would Neil, River’s brother, let you go so easily?”
Indignant, Daniella retorted, “How can I answer that? I don’t know what you’ve done to the Xanders, who took Bernard! They must have a reason!”
Draco barked, “Nonsense!”
“Am I wrong? Provide me with a reason for Bernard’s capture, then! Stop pinning everything on me!”
Daniella’s agitation grew.
“Leave!” Draco pointed toward the door.
Daniella left the study without hesitation, and the bodyguard promptly closed the door.
Draco slumped back into his chair. Now that Bernard had been taken, he couldn’t be certain of Bernard’s loyalty.
“If Bernard reveals anything, I’ll eliminate him first, Draco swore silently.
“Lance!” Draco bellowed.
Lance entered the room, bowing respectfully. “Yes, sir?”
Draco commanded, “Arrange for surveillance on Neil. If he discovers something, locate Bernard immediately and ensure his silence.”
Lance hesitated. “Sir, Bernard has always been loyal to you. He won’t betray you.”
Draco said, “After all these years, who knows if an old man like him might change his mind? I won’t tolerate any potential threats.”
Lance contemplated briefly. “Sir, do you think you’re being overly cautious? It’s been over 20 years since that incident, and all the surveillance footage has been destroyed. Even if Bernard were to reveal anything, there’s no evidence.”
“A witness‘ testimony can still disrupt my plans! I should have eliminated Hugh’s children when I killed him all those years ago! They’ve become a significant liability now,” Draco muttered impatiently.
Lance said, “Please stay calm, sir. I’ll have my subordinates search for Bernard.”
Draco urged, “Do it quickly!”
“Yes, sir!”
Unbeknownst to Draco, his orders were recorded as voice clips and sent to Noah and Neil’s phones.
Noah left De Marco Residence and called Neil as soon as he received the evidence.
Half an hour later, Noah and Neil arrived at Villa Rosa. They settled in the living room, and a maid served them coffee.
Neil remarked, “Noah, your approach is better. Now that we have the evidence, we can simply report it to the police.”
Noah raised his coffee cup, saying, “We can’t do that just yet.”
Neil was incredulous. “Why not? Do you hesitate because he’s your father?”
Noah shot Neil a look. “I wouldn’t have worked with you on this if I had any compassion for him.”
Neil asked, “Then why can’t we report to the police?”
Noah took a sip of coffee, explaining. “My father is the chairman of MK with a 45% share in the company.
If something happens to him, Casey will inherit all his shares, and that’s not beneficial to me.”
Neil frowned. “So what’s your plan?”
Noah replied, “You don’t need to concern yourself with this matter. I’m going to take them down.”
Noah narrowed his eyes.
At that point, Neil understood Noah’s Intention. He chose not to comment further and left shortly after.
River dropped off Paige at 8:00 p.m.
Alex was already waiting downstairs and approached swiftly when he saw the car.
Kenny got out of the car to open the door and told Alex, “Paige really loves to sleep. She dozed off on the Alex remarked, “Why don’t you try being pregnant and see? Paige is a real sleepyhead at home, too. I haven’t been intimate with her once to help her get better rest.”
Kenny was shocked. “You haven’t been intimate with Paige since she got pregnant?”
Alex defended, “And why not? Shouldn’t I take care of my daughter and wife?”
Kenny teased, “Stop bragging!”
Alex looked inside the car and noticed River and the three children were asleep, along with Paige.
He told Kenny, ‘River is also asleep, isn’t she? Why shouldn’t my wife get some rest?”
Kenny reasoned, “Your wife didn’t engage in strenuous activities. River and the kids are exhausted from the trip. It’s normal for them to sleep”
Alex pouted. “You act like you’re River’s husband and the kids‘ father!”
Kenny’s gaze landed on Liora, who was sleeping adorably. “I’m not that fortunate.”
Alex suggested, “You should find yourself a girlfriend.”
Kenny retorted, “Are you going to set me up? What an understatement!”
